What is the link for Ball? I have never heard of them. Sounds interesting.
Plant Propagation part XXVIII based on my own experience
Sorry, just a luker here. Just wanted to say how beautiful the new petunias are. Thanks for finding sources but sure to find them in the local nuseries.
No problem they are nice flowers and unique indeed. just might change myopinion of petunia's.
JB ball may have some stuff to help you with the begonia's as well as the CC. I am willing to bet they have breeders for both.
always happy to have coments. and welcome to the thread
Dave

I saw them JB. Yeah, daffodils. They are right there!!
Dave, I am amazed. I normally plant flats of petunias and my brugs always have spidermites, but the petunias, I have never seen any on them. I didn't know they liked them.
Those all are pretty, but so expensive.
Well, you all, I took a chance on a new seller on Marketplace, he has a ton of nice pictures, but, plants? He told me he would be sure to get mine out yesterday and send me a tracking number. So far, nothing. I know, he had no reviews anywhere.
Gotta go write to him. tttyl
There's a aburgandy star, very similar to pinstripe, at www.summerhillseeds.com. They have seeds.
kb, who's now going back to bed.
Hey Jen, keep us posted on the NEW seller. You need to be careful these days. If someone is selling this time of year, you really need to have references. You know that why am I telling you. Dumb and Dumber. Love you. JB
Yeah, I was just going to ask Melody if any of them have had any feedback about this guy. There still is none. I have written 3 times to him, the last 3 days, and nothing.
I just joined the Wave petunia Club on FB. They have a trial group each year, to try the new colors out. the 1st thousand people each year get to do it.
They are so hardy here if I can keep rabbits out of them. I found a few things that have been working pretty well to repell vermin the last few years.
Dawn, good for you!! Why don't you have the waves in hanging baskets so the animals don't get to them? That is how we grow them up here.
Well JB, I just got am email from the seller and he gave me a tracking number. I checked it and he sent it yesterday alright, but it won't get here until the 22nd. Now I specifically told him to send it priority. If I had known he wasn't going to do that I would not have taken a chance on this time of year.
Oh well, you were right, dumb and dumber.
I do have them up on blocks and things in pots. Some were in beds but the rabbits love them. I have my plan to do that thing I think I talked about here. Something of an idea I got from the Garden Gate Magazine Ev sent me. I am expounding on an idea that should be great if I actually do it soon. I love wave Pets.
Well, we had a beautiful day of sunshine. My two workers showed up at 9 and we worked steady except they took 1/2 hour for lunch until 3pm. Still have 20% left of the bed with the creeping fig vine. No wonder I found it so difficult. Around 11:30am, I went behind them and checked how they were removing the roots. Surprise, many were left behind. They were both shocked but went back and double dug the area. There were 4 roses in the area but I finally had them toss them in the garbage.
And the crew arrived to install a new valve and line for an area that was having pressure problems on the irrigation system. They got the new line dug and clock installed and were attempting to put the new line through the by pass from one bed under a sidewalk to another. Something was blocking the by pass. It was a very large root from my neighbors tree. The main root was at least 3 inches and the one in the by pass was about 2 inches. It was a smaller root that had split off the main root. They cut it on one end and then tried to pull it through the other end. I thought they were going to have a heart attach before the root let go. Then they hooked up the new line and lo and behold, water pressure out the ying yang. The tree root was blocking the line.
Now that the roses have been removed I think I will make this my "Blue Garden" and put something different in the other bed I had enlarged.
After they get done with the removal of the fig vine roots, they are putting in a root barrier which is 3' deep. I have it in several other areas. The roots usually go over the barrier instead of under. The vine is on the brick on the house but if I cannot control it, I am going to have it totally removed.
The luncheon yesterday was delightful. I was surrounded by very tall, thin, beautiful, rich young women. The food was out of this world. I had a wonderful butter lettuce salad, halibut over couscous with spinach and garlic. And then I had raspberry cheese cake. My stomach was not a happy camper because I usually do not eat that type of food. Lunch started at 12 noon and was done at 3:30. I only drank sparkling water with a lime squeeze but red and white wine flowed all afternoon.
JB and all. I think if we look behind most closed doors, we would be surprised. I think the smarter you are, the more unhappy you are. You notice things other people do not even see. AND, to many people go to movies and watch TV and think everyone but them is living that life. We can all attest that we are all living the same life, with problems, just in different states and climates. And I need all of you to help me smile each day. And I treasure you all more than material things. "The most important things in life are not things." Love Sharon.
PS: Evelyn, I hope you are feeling better. Katie, hope you are better. I bet Lee is watching the Westminster Dog Show.
Sharon, do the people who own the house and the plant have anything to say about what you are doing to their stuff? Can you just take that off of their house? You may have killed the plant. What is root block? If it goes over instead of under, will it go over the sidewalk also, or road? Or do you just keep it cut back? Or, maybe it is your house and plant??
LOL, sounds like a good party you old hag you Sharon. LOL. Bet you had a wonderful time and fit right in with them. The food sounds wonderful.
Wow, how dare those workers take a half hour lunch 6 hours after they started!! Must be real scofflaws. Think you should look for new workers Sharon. LOL Just teasing you.
JB, have you heard from Terry or Melody lately? I wrote early and Melody usually writes right back. I haven't heard from either one of them.
Have you? Wonder if they are still with us.
Jnette, the root of the tree that was removed grew under the wall separating our property with the neighbor and then sucked all the water out of two very large beds of mine..
Root block is a piece of black material. I will look at the box tomorrow and get the description of material. It comes in pieces 3' x 2'. It is buried in the bed with the lip barely above ground level. It is buried vertically. I could have gotten it 3' x 3' but I do not think they could have dug that deep. And there is as large amount of foundation concrete over-splash in one area right in the middle. They are going to see if they can break some of the over-splash. They are getting here at 7am but we have already gone over what they need to so I can take my time getting ready to meet the world.
Jnette, you PITA, they took their lunch break at 12:30.
JB, how do you put up with this woman?
Later, Sharon.
And then they took another break???? Why those lazys! You better fire them. Give them a cut in pay!!
LOL,
I am totally self-absorbed this morning. Two night of not sleeping much due to an endlessly running nose and a godawful headache. Feeling somewhat better this morning compared to yesterday but need another day or two in bed.
Oh, boy, one of my arhat seeds is sprouting. Their containeer is right next to my puter table.
more when I'm feeling better.
Thank you for being here.
hugs, katie
I am up , up and away.......it is sunny, not as windy, going to be 50 deg. today. I may just survive this one. I am going to have the jeep washed and get my hair cut. Make split pea soup and hamspread.
Plant about a doz. cane begonia cuttings and then if I can still move without any discomfort I will find something else to keep my busy. The list is a mile long but I am governed by the weather of course. LOL
Sharon, the PITA you are talking about is easy to ignore. Try it.
Oh, Hi, Jen, no, I have not talked to Melody or Terry, but I tell you what I will do. I will cuss and then they will pop up. That should bring them in. Gotta go. Hi Terry, Melody.
Come on Katie, stop this self pity crap. Get out of bed and drink some hot tea and think happy thoughts. Look for more sprouts and thank God you are alive and young. If you have the flu, tell it to go away you are busy trying to survive. Now, having said that, one reason I do not go to bed when I am sick is that I would never get up. I love my bed. So, I make myself get up and go to the couch and then when I sit there I see all the things that remind me of everything I have not done and I get up and force myself to do it. If you do not have a fever, take a tylenol and try and think about something that makes you happy. You can not stay in bed. The sun is shining. Up woman! You can not expect to sleep at night if you sleep all day. Sermon is over. BYE/ LOve YOU. JB
LOLm JB, I wrote and asked Melody where they were and she said they had sent something out to their vendors, 8000 of them, and they got pages and pages of stuff back to respond to. So, it isn't that they forgot about us. They don't have time right now. But will get back to us.
JB may be a real crank Katie, but she is right. Couldn't have said it better myself. JB.
The PITA
Morning all:
Sharon are you in a homeowners association and are you not the head of the grounds??? Just asking because i figuired that you were... for some reason I kinda remember that. That will answer the question of how you get away with ripping plants off other peoples buildings and redoing the beds. When we move into a comunity that has an association especially one that takes care of the outside of everything they have the right to redo anything they like on the outside and they will do it. i lived in a condo association where they were resposible for everything from the studs out.
I tried to find the aburgandy star petunia and could not so I am guessing its under something different.
Katie i am one who know s that jb is correct its tough to get moving when you let yourself go to those little "I don't feel good" idea's poping in the ole noggin. I am kinda in one at the moment myself. I have to make myself get up and get moving even though I hurt all over. It does not help that its a gray day and the temps are pushing 70 now. great temps for being outside. I push myself to get up when I decide its time to get moving and what all I want to get done.
sorry for the soap box sermon
Jeanette did you pay with a credit card for your purchase? if so you have recorse. you are right priority is the only way to go. what happens if the product gets stuck in an area where it get frozen? the vendor is a real newbe or acts like one.
well not much going on today. trying to get above the pain threshold but its tough to do when all the body is screaming. i really hate the days like today when its nice outside and a front rolls through that totally ruins it for me. ok enough whining.
have a great day
Dave

Dave, the new link does not work for me. Help! JB
I am sick of cooking. Today I took that ham and made the spread, pea soup and I am tired.
All that grinding up and cooking off and cleaning up is a bunch of crap. I need to stop being the happy cooker. It took me all afternoon to get it all done and then I had to cook off chicken for Barney and grind it up and wash those dishes. No, I do not have a dishwasher. When I moved here I said I would not need one because I am not going to be cooking. What a joke that was. My daughter loves my cooking and when she has a late day at work she cons me into doing dinner. Which I do with love, but today was a mess because I had to take the jeep to the carwash and get a hair cut and did not get back to the house til nearly one p.m. Never did get my cuttings planted. So, Tomorrow is going to be greenhouse day. For Sure. It was warmer today because the wind was calmer. But, not much snow melted. I am amazed.
Going to have a drink of wine and some cheese. Ate lunch about three and I am not hungry for dinner yet. That will be a salad for sure.
I had a delivery today that I was so impressed with. I had ordered two "daisy" wreaths for the doors because I felt they wuld make it look like Spring. They came and they are beautiful I paid nearly $40 wholesale for them. They are just perfect. They look so real and straggly , like someone just picked them and put them in a circle. Made my day.
I put one on my daughters side and one on my side. Looks really nice.
Have a good evening everyone. Katie Honey, are you up??????JB
My SIL is outside with the front end loader moving the snow pile so it melts tomorrow when the temp goes up to 60 deg. If it goes that high. Nite.
Worked for me JB, do you need a reminder how this works?
PITA
JB, you should have tried the move before you started on the wine..Sharon
Sharon that is how I feel about my Vinca Major. It spreads so fast that soon it will bury everything in the bed. I tried so block it but it keeps a coming. I like it, don't get me wrong, but eventually I will have to move all else from that bed.
I am sick too. Don't know if it is the flu a cold or strep. I feel like crap. I did go to work, but as the day progressed I felt worse, than considered the possibility of strep throat.
Sounds like a good Luncheon Sharon.
Dave do you see the light of Spring in the near future?
It rained here today.
Gotta move Dawn. Dave put us on a new link. Take a look. About 4 posts up.
