The pic is of tropical hibiscus Kona Pink a double if not a triple Hibiscus.I thought we could use some tropical color to brighten the wintery weather we are all experiencing.
I look forward to some spirited conversation but as mother nature has decided to be nasty this year we will also be chatting about the weather and what we are growing

Dave

thank you for the intrest and welcome

Hello to all---I am here, freezing, but here. it has warmed up to -10 and that is with the sun out!!! Supposed to get -16 tonight, but who knows????? Three rugs later and it is still to cold to do anything else. Too darn early to start seeds. So maybe a good book is in the cards. We shall see.
Linda, have you gone to the Dr. What did he say???? I have done that so many times. Our rec-room was built on a slab, and one must lift one's feet up to come in or out, yep you guessed it, I always forget to lift that first step. I hope you are OK.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

well its official worst storm in 2 to 3 years. tomorrow is an upside down day. our low will be warmer than the high. low 24 high 16.... thursday low of 1 high of 9 .... now who asked for the storm .... let me at them.....

Pawleys Island, SC

Well, it too is official. I managed to break both feet in one fall. LOL ( I have always been a klutz and my family has always remarked that I can walk across an empty room and fall) but this one takes the cake. I just can't believe I have done it. What is worse is that it hurts like a " you know what"! Well, I guess I will spend more time on the computer for a while. At least until I can walk again. Thankfully no surgery though. I am also very thankful that I didn't hurt anything else ( pride excluded).

I am sorry you all are getting nasty weather again. The past 2 days have been gorgeous, but today it is cold again. I can't complain though, I am not moving far at any given time, so I am only chilly right before the heat kicks in.

Katie, I don't know about the durian, but there is a nursery that sells the mangosteen plants. you can find them here...http://toptropicals.com/cgi-bin/garden_catalog/cat.cgi?uid=Garcinia_mangostana

Lee, have you all been without snow in the past month? It seems like it has been 1 constant snow fall for you.

Jnette, Sharon, Evelyn, Dawn and JB, I hope you are all warm and dry and having a good day. It is time for the history channel and a nap.
Sea ya.

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

I am so sorry to hear the bad news. You just need to take care now, and don't try to do anything until Dr says you can. Hope you get lots of help from loved ones.
We haven't been with out snow since Nov. It snowed yesterday about 2 inches, and a skift of snow today. With it being this cold, I think it is too cold to snow now. I just want the cold to go AWAY

mulege, Mexico

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about the agony of de feet. (I couldn't resist and I'm too far away for you to throw something at me.) I've had torn tendons a couple of times and have been told that breaks heal faster. Probably not much consolation but but it's all I can offer - from one klutz to another.

I went to town and got my shopping done. Then took a nap as I'm still tired but definately mending.

I've heard stories about the smell of most durian but the taste is reputed to be worth it. I've never had either it or mangosteen but would love to try them in my attempt to increase the food crops that are grown here. There are some seeds available but prices start at $7.50 plus shipping for durian. Ther is one mangosteen that is available at JLHudsonseeds and I think one member has the same one for trade. There are lots of varieties of both.

The chicken legs I bought are still frozen in a 25 pound block. I have to find something else for the dogs' dinner.

JB are you still with us?

hugs, katie

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Haven't heard anything from her for 2 days now. Do you think she is hiding, or stuck in a snowdrift somewhere. Probably out looking for a cat. She does worry about the little animals. Nothing wrong with that, good that someone does.

Come on JB speak up. If you don't I will send you another storm. It is suppose to be 5 degrees here tonight. How would you like that?

Sure hope she is ok.

Linda, how long before you can walk? I have heard it is 6 weeks for bones to heal. In fact that is how long I had to stay off my feet when I had surgery on my foot 2 years ago. A terrible time of year to be off your feet. Mentally. I hated it. I thought it would be a good time to do it, but between that and the snow piled high that year it was terribly depressing. Do they wrap them, casts, or anything?

Dave that is a gorgeous hibiscus. I had a petunia that look just like it a couple years ago in that color and also a lavender but had to send for them. You can't find seeds for them.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Well JB, "Historic Storm" is what it has been named. OMG, 10 feet snow drifts with 2 feet of snow. I hope you are OK.

We have gone from a high of 68 on Saturday, 61 today and a high of 40 Wednesday and Thursday with a low of 29 and then back in the 60s. The only plants I am concerned about are the lime and orange trees. But I do not dare complain when I look at everyone's weather and poor Linda's two broken feet.

I did not get to sleep last night until around 3 am this morning. Have no idea why. I went to bed wide awake and took a Ambient (sp) and did not go to sleep. I woke at 7:30am and decided to roll over and get more sleep. Well I got up at 1:10pm. Bizarre dreams, total dry mouth and took a shower totally comatose. Therefore, got absolutely nothing done except a few problems that I took care of on the phone. And I did cook dinner.

Tomorrow is Vern's 78th birthday. We are going to do something. We just do not what at this time. We might drive out and see the new, very large, bridge going over Hoover Dam to bypass the Dam.

Dave, I already have you, JB, Linda and Evelyn down for Black Bamboo. Lee, I cannot remember if you wanted any. Dave, I did not think you could kill bamboo.

Again, Dave, I saw the color Blue in the description of a few of your plants. Put me down for some of those Blue plants, and yes I am purchasing them, not looking for anything free or discounted.

Next week I am having the cannas dug. I need a new list of who wants cannas.

Please stay warm, safe, full of energy and hope. That is in my prayers every night for each one of you. Love Sharon.

This photo is one of the Cannas that will be dug.

I dug about 100 pink rain lilies. Anyone want any of those. If you have two, next year you will have 25.

And I have yellow Oxalis. They are a weed in California and termed invasive. They bloom here in the winter and go underground during the summer. Anything that blooms in the desert in the winter is a plant to me not a weed.

Evelyn, JB, Dave and Lee are getting Hardy Hibiscus, anyone else. I think maybe Dawn.

JB--oh JB where are you????? You have all of us worried.

Well -20 last night, high supposed to be -10 for today and tomorrow. Why is it the weather reports are correct when it is so cold, and not so much when weather is supposed to be nice???? Only job I know of that you can be wrong so much, and still keep the paycheck :)

I wish I knew if the bamboo would survive here. probably not. Don't think much will. It is always trial and error, and mostly error.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Snow, Freezing Rain, Sleet, you name it, we have it. On top of everything else. I have not even been outside today. The kids told me it is a sheet of ice where walk Barney, so I am being cautious.
Today I am going to clean bird cages and clean out drawers. I am sick of not having the desire to plant cuttings and this doom and gloom crap has got to go. I need sunshine..and that ain't going to happen to I am just going to work myself into happyland. LOL
There was a three car chain reaction accident on our road today due to icy conditions and one man was killed on the other road that passes our house in an accident. Thank God my kids were not involved. It was this morning in the early hours of people going to work. The people in NJ drive like idiots and if they are not talking on the phone, or eating breakfast while they are driving, they are shaving or texting. All of which in this state are against the law but they do it anyhow.
Talk later, I need to do some work. JB

mulege, Mexico

Tony and I both seem to have the "blahs" though we do not have the excuses that JB has. I agree that the solution is to ignore your feelings and get to work.

JB, I'm glad you're OK.

Sharon, I will be in Ca in early March to see my doctor and would love some black bamboo is the timing works. I'm more than happy to pay postage or I could send you some dragonfruit cuttings.

I need to get dressed and get to work.

hugs, kb

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

Sounds like half of us need to get outside and work and the other half need to stay in and keep warm. No inbetweens, whatever that would be. Guess that would be to go shopping. Hows that?

The weatherman on CNN said that Oklahoma is really getting slammed today. Dave said they were predicting a storm big time. Sounds like they are getting it.

Guess we've got car troubles. It is running, but running lean and burnt out the catalytic converter for $200, and needs a tuneup but the repairman says he has never been able to get the plugs on these cars out without messing a couple up and really screwing things up so needs to soak them in easy-out over night which means we would have to rent a car for a night.

I know what you are thinking, why not take it to a dealer to do. Well, that means we would have to take it to Spokane and then what if they do the same thing?

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

JB I am so glad you checked in, now we can quit worrying. You need to stay put, and off the ice. We don't need two of you guys down with broken bones. So take care all of you.

Lee

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I am spending so much money on "stuff". I do that when I am frustrated with the weather. I buy all the time. I just got my credit card bill and I spent nearly $1000 this past month. I must admit I enjoy doing it, but with the income not increasing I must stop this or I will be on welfare. Well, close to it. I may have to get a job. LOL There were some plants in that bill but they will not be shipped until it warms up.

I am also eating more than necessary. Not anything exciting, just plain old food. I can not get out to have lunch in town just now so I have been making soups and salads. I do not eat much meat anymore. I am just starving for cabbage soup. I make it in large quantities and freeze it in small ones then I eat that .........I put just enough cayenne in it to spice it up and I just love it.

My God, I have nothing to say because I am stuck in this house so all I can do it chatter about money and food. How darn boring. If I can't get out tomorrow I think I will order a pizza delivered and sit and stuff myself.

I cleaned one bird cage, the dirtiest one, and it took me two hours plus. Now I have to clean up the floor but I decided to have lunch first. Then I think I will do some bill paying.

I would love to cut some pussy willows but the snow is too deep. My neighbor has fields of pussy willow and they should be cutting to bunch and ship to the city but the snow is so deep he can not get the Mexicans in to cut.

I'm done. Must get back to work. Hugs. JB

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB, do they deliver your "stuff" to the house? You probably have a postal delivery huh? What plants did you buy? I bought that variegated Monstera and told them to hold it for the weather to warm up. I hate not getting stuff when I buy it. I have some shoes on backorder.

At what temps do you tell them to go ahead and send the plants? Do you go by the nighttime lows?

Sharon, you can put me on your canna list. I really love them and plant them in large containers like my dahlias. In fact, I wonder how one would be with a bronze leafed dahlia, shorter one, planted with it? Pretty I'll bet.

mulege, Mexico

Sharon, I'd love to have both cannas and rain lilies.

I'm recovering (sort of) from another problem with my enighbors. I won't go into it but it's a bummer. After talking with them today I went to visit a few people who like me to recover. My friend Yolanda was at her restaurant which is quite close by. I took her some lemons and we had a nice talk and big hugs at both ends of the conversation.

I found another packet of hollyhock seeds and I will start them and do some clean up in my plant room. Why does it feel like Saturday?

I am negotiating to buy an AVT which would help me to get out more and to exercise the dogs more.

Do any of you want dragon fruit cuttings? I can send them when I'm in Ca. in early March.

Back to work.

hugs, katie

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

JB. so glad you are OK. I found you last night with the birds on DG. Great forum. I am with you, I love docpipe. I also have the same problem with ordering on the computer but I cannot blame it on the weather. This month I have been good but that is because I have so much gardening to do I do not need any other plants.

Katie, I have no problem getting you a start of the Black Bamboo. Where in California are you going to be.

Lee you could try it in a pot. I am going to put mine in a pot. It is not as pretty has the photos in them catalogs. Mine as still babies. Stems will not turn black for as least another year. Lady down the street has it and it looks just OK. But it would probably look good in someplace that has humidity.

Jnette, go to Spokane, get your car fixed, spend the night and have a great time. You do know you are getting older and time is flying.

Dave, you are really getting it according to the weather channel.

Linda, I have never heard of someone breaking both feet unless they were jumping off a very tall building. Were you trying to fly. I dream all the time I can fly. It is so cool. But then every once in a while I try to fly and just cannot get off the ground.

Linda, I do pray your pain is in control.

Vern and I slept until 11am. I guess I made up for the sleep I did not get yesterday. The wind is howling and gusts are to be up to 50mph. Our home is built in what they call the Canyons. Our home backs on the greenbelt that is built on one of the smaller canyons. Home are built on each side and the houses behind us are higher than we are. When the wind blows this time of year, it comes down the canyon and sounds like a roaring train. That is because there are no leaves on the trees to slow the wind down.

The back landscape is full of Quail stuffing themselves. They know there is cold weather coming. They have now moved us to mid 20s tonight. All the trees at the park are in bud. Not good news.

Lee, now that is cold weather...

We are not suppose to water until tomorrow but I am turning on the sprinklers to get everything good and wet.

Evelyn is a little under the weather also. So get better young lady.

I hope I did not forget anyone. Love you all. Please be careful, warm and happy. Sharon.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Cross post. That is because I am doing three things at one time.

I do not need any dragon fruit, Do not want to encourage any dragons to visit.

Later. Sharon.

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

Wow, Linda, you must have very brittle bones. I never heard of breaking both feet unless as Sharon said, a high fall. Osteoporosis maybe. Hope you are going to be o.k. You must be really upset not being able to walk around normally.

Jen, I have everything delivered to the house. I spend a fortune on shipping but I can not drive to where they have half the things I buy. I bought silk flowers to make the cemetery cones for our family members graves at Valentine and Easter. Yes, I know, I hate silk instead of real, but I also hate to spend the money to put flowers out in this weather, and we have three in the veterans cemetery. They will never be forgotten. Then I always take my Mom one when I do the guys. They were not cheap even wholesale. I had thought about getting more and selling them, but I do not think I would be able to beat the prices in eBay. Those people must have a secret outlet for silks. Also, boxes to ship them in is a problem. They are too big for the free ones you get from the USPS. So, I gave u p that idea. LOL

Sharon, your weather sounds great. Maybe I need to move to LV. I used to like to spend time there when I was young. That was a long time ago.

Katie, you really need to get those neighbors of yours in shape. What a bummer to have to live around nasty people. I would have to either tell them to get lost or something. I could not live like that. Do they consider you an outsider? What the heck is their problem? Hope you are feeling better.

Lee, can you still get out the doors? I wonder how Dave is. Okla. is getting some snow but not as much as those North of him.

I must get moving. I spent too much time on this computer today. I did some volunteer work for the HP this afternoon and I am weary. I need some wine and Shrimp and FF sweet potatoes and salad. Yummy. JB

Pawleys Island, SC

Hi Everyone,

Yes, I do believe I can fly, just not out of the greenhouse. LOL I still can't believe I have done this, but my tailbone is trying very hard to convince me it is true. I have never done anything like this, ( never even dreamed up anything like this!) but I am thankful that I didn't hurt anything else and I will use the time to catch up on some things that only involve sitting.
DH and DS are wonderful and helping me alot. I feel terrible having them wait on me hand and foot, but it seems easier on them stress wise if I just let them do it. ( they tend to panic when I stand up. LOL) I have always been the klutz of the family and could walk across an empty room and fall but this is the pits. ( I have to admit, when I don't hurt too much, it is funny)

JB, I am glad we found you. Hey you want to come here and visit till winter is over? I can't believe you are getting more sleet and snow and all the yucky stuff. Shopping sounds fun JB, but you might be better off with the pizza party. LOL I don't like to shop online, so it isn't tempting for me.

Katie, I would love to have some of your dragonfruit cuttings when you can send them. I will gladly send you postage or trade anything I have for some.I agree with JB too, tell your neighbors to mind their own business and leave you alone! I have a couple of neighbors that I have had to convince I was better left to my own devices. LOL oh, I love the agony of de feat comment too. That one kept me laughing for a while.

Lee, Are you getting snow again too? You need to come with JB and hang out at the beach for the rest of the winter, Jnette you too. we could have a blast. LOL Probably get into all kinds of trouble too.

Sharon, I would love to take you up on the yellow oxalis. I have a pretty pink one that grows wild here and a purple shamrock, but no yellow. You can come hang out here too, but I'll bet vegas is warmer than it is here.

Dave, I hope you are warm and comfy, I can't imagine so many storms back to back.

Evelyn and Dawn, where are you?

I gotta go, it is getting to be naptime again. I hate painkillers..................
sea ya

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

Watch out everyone, Linda's family is tired already of waiting on her hand and "foots", and she is just inviting us to visit to take up the slack.--- Now Linda, please know I am joking---I just want you to heal quickly, and easily.

Yes JB, I can get out of the doors, however at -16 who the %^&*( wants to. Bad enough the poor dogs have to go out in it. We have about 2' of snow all over with drifts a bit deeper. It is the ice underneath that is the pits. Supposed to be cold like this for the week. GREAT!!!
Lee

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

JB and Sharon, I am still chuckling over Docpipe. Haven't thought of him in ages.

Do you have to return things very often JB that you have bought on line? You probably don't buy clothes. I do some, and return them if they don't fit, or if I don't like the fabric. One thing I cannot stand, it seems they are going back to 100% cotton. What the crap are they thinking? That everyone wants to look like a raisin? I hate to iron and I do not want wrinkles.

So, it is really difficult finding clothes with any synthetic in them. It doesn't take much to make them look good. Must be a shortage of oil. Guess we can thank BP for that.

But, more and more the on line companies are selling free shipping. They are fighting for a share of the business. Also, most of the states are trying to charge everyone sales tax. Not just their own residents, but everyone. Don't they know it evens out if our residents buy from other states and pay it? Guess not, it is just another way to get our last dollar.

No thanks Sharon. I don't go to Spokane any more than I have to. I cannot believe the trouble they are having with killings down there. Sure different than the town I grew up in. Yes, I lived in Spokane until I was 6 yrs old and then from the time I was 13 to when I moved to Seattle at 21. During my teen years Spokane was a fun town. Not really a city at that time.

Yes, I am getting older and plan on continuing to age. May not be able to do that in Spokane. LOL

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

good evening:
worst storm in last 2 to 3 years... still have yet to get a report on how much we got. The highway patrol shut down interstate 44 that runs to joplin and beyond. we have guests in my SS's GF and her kids. she lives out in the country where if something happened she would be in big trouble pretty quick. Dirt roads and lots of curves and hills.
we started last night with sleet and thunder sleet ....once it turned to snow we had blizzerd conditions with white out in lots of the state.
We are suposed to have one day this next week of like 38and then more snow... oh boy more snow.... weather man said it willtake upto 2 weeks to melt allthe snow. thursday morning its suposed to be -6 and then throgh on the wind gust of 35 - 45 mph.
I had to get out and unplug the lights timer on the green house so it will run all the time.... I realize it wont do much for the plants but being in a closed off GH and the heat of a 60 watt bulb helps. I got out earlier last week and made sure to water everyone so I think I am in good shape there. my hope is that the cuttings withstand the cold snap. The snow was knee deep and sooooooooo cold.
I built my cold frame and it got tossed around like a little wad of paper, so no putting ajuga there. fortunately I have room to plant them in 50 cell tray's and keep them in the grow room in the garage.

we welcomed the storm with a nice mug of hot coco and mini mash mellow's yummy....of course I made it with milk not water...it makes it so much more tasty... yummy
Please put me down for some of the of the rain lilies & canna's Sharon. I believe the canna's are tropicana. even though everything says they are not hardy here we grow them all over town. I am hopeing to order some of the yellow and orange rain lilies later this year.

Lee - I keep my bamboo in containers so that they don't get loose. its questionable if black bamboo is hardy here but I am planning on doing a test with a small bit of the ones that survive here. I also planted some ginger and bananna's as a test last fall. of course the snow storm is not a true test of weather or not its really hardy as I got them in the ground a bit late last fall.

I need to get a list of who wants the daylilies i call my ditch lilies they are super tall and have a nice orange bloom to them. Evelyn i have not forgotten your peach of a daylily for the peach garden. It go so late in the fall so I figuired it would be better to ship it to you this spring.

so all in all we got hammered with snow... we are all inside all toasty warm with a nice fire going in the FP. The storm has really sent me into ahorrid state. I have been up every hour on the hour.I really hate that cycle. it seems like I can't ever get out of it.

Linda:
I wish I could releave you of you pain. you have to quit trying to do your imatation of super women and try to leap buildings in a single bound. (sorry i could not help it)
I know pain killers are a real hassel but it helps to tolerate the pain. please take them like you are suposed to. I know sometimes I forget to take them. Its better to take them like they say to so you will at least stay ahead of the curve of the pain. I can't imagine how much pain you are dealing with.
I do know naps are good..... I hope the family is pampering you so, relax & enjoy the pampering as much as possible. I will pray for you to have a little pain as possible.

Tulsa, OK(Zone 6b)

Did everyone get to go check out the new gaillardia's ? There aren't too many new varieties of echinacea's..... they do have some new Hellibours though and they are very interesting.

do you think I need to try to get fins regestered as a new Echinacea??? see the pic. I am not sure if the difference is enough to warrant releasing it.

well its coco time... stay warm everyone. we are starting to getover active kids sendrome. I think the youngens are getting cabin feaver.....
REDUM .......REDUM .......REDUM .......REDUM .......REDUM .......REDUM .......REDUM .......

have a great evening

Dave just saw on T

Dave, just saw on TV your storm some guy trying to shovel the snow with the wind blowing it off the shovel before he could toss it. Dumb. lol

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

I hope you guys don't lose all your plants. Thinking good thoughts for you all and your safety.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

OK, I got everyone wants. I think. I have about 10 different colors of rain lilies but 8 are brand new and been in the ground less than a year.

Dave, Viola Hederacea, Australian Violet. All I did was Google Australian Violet and pictures popped up.

We we will be 29 tomorrow night so I watered every thing today and will do the same tomorrow.

We ended up doing nothing today for Vern's birthday. I went to Whole Foods and spend about an hour just window shopping but did spent $126. Came home to make Vern his dinner and he was not here. He came in about 5:30pm. He had just had a double double hamburger and fries. He is lucky I had not started dinner or he would be dead meat. I was late starting the pasta sauce but I did buy him Seafood Gumbo.

I am going to de-clutter some tomorrow.

You are all very funny. And sick in the head. Love you all, Sharon .

Lnda, I would love some pink oxalis. I will get you the yellow.

Miles City, MT(Zone 3b)

-18 and counting. I don't wish this weather on anyone, and it sounds like you are all getting some form of it. So sorry for all of us. Hope the plants make it through.
Sharon is there any sign of life in the ones I sent you for your blue garden? Of course, it will be quite a while before I can even see mine, but if they didn't start, I will send more when I see life here. Probably June or July if this weather has anything to say about it!! Right now they have about 2 feet of ice and snow over them.
Have a good one everyone, ttyal, Lee

Wrightstown, NJ(Zone 7a)

I am sitting here in my office trying to decide what to do to spend the day. I need to do some cooking I think. Bird Cages need to be cleaned. Drawers need to be cleaned out.
So, after I sit here for awhile and contemplate my schedule, I may just read my kindle or play games on Facebook

. I am so frustrated. Had to cancel my chiropractor again. The storm was good to us this time. No snow..........just inches of frozen rain which shut down all bus and train traffic into NYC. The State Offices were on a two hour delay, so both my kids being "essential" personnel still had to go in on the ice at the regular time. The snow is piled as high as 9 and 10 ft. tall here on the farm and it is that way all over the area. A mess to find parking places when you shop in our little towns.

The barnyard is a sheet of ice and the dog pen is not much better. Barney is really bothered he has not been getting his exercise. Needless to say I am not getting mine either. I really need to walk or I stiffen up.

Dave, I thought I saw some parts of OK got 3 inches. You must have not been that part. Poor baby. Drink your hot chocolate and rest.

Linda, I do not know what to say to you. I know when I fell into the garbage can (I do not know if I ever shared that story with you ) but it happened, and I had this big trash can shoved up under my armpit, hurt like H and I could not get out for a few minutes. Of course I was alone here on the farm at the time. Anyhow I ended up going to the doctor days later and she made me have xrays because she was afraid I may have broken a few ribs. Turned out it was just a nasty bruise. I can only imagine how sore your butt will be after you sit long enough plus the pain in your feet. You poor dear. You must be more careful.

For those of you curious how I manage to shop online the way I do, I have several regular stores I use for clothing, i.e. LL Bean, JC Penney, Macys, Lands End...I seldom need to return anything because I have been doing this so long I pretty much know the size. I do not buy any dresses online. Only slacks, jeans, undies, shoes etc. I buy shoes at Easy Spirit and they are great. You can shop your size online and they are pretty much perfect with the sizes being what they say they are. I also use Amazon for special things and of course my floral wholesalers, etc. That is it. You do not need to leave the house if you need anything these days. I just bought some plant stands for the house and the one had a problem. I called the company, they told me to keep it and are sending me another one at no cost. I honestly have few problems except with Verizon, my cell phone carrier. They piss me off so much I could scream, yet I am stuck with them because they have the most towers around here and the reception is good.

I started to update my DG MarketPlace items. Putting up notice of March shipping. I still have not opened anything for orders because I have no idea what will be available by the time this storm is over. God, the GH went up to 115 the other day, then it went down to 58 at night. No heater problems, just when the sun comes out it really heats it up in there. It is amazing how good the new jasmine look. They are hardy little buggers.

Need to get busy doing nothing.........talk later. The rain has stopped and it is now so foggy I can not see the barn. That can only mean the temperature is going up. Yahoo.'
Melt that snow baby!!!!!

Lee, that temperature and weather would put me over the edge. I admire you sweet lady.
If you can survive that crap you can survive anything. I hope you really like it there because if you do not you must be miserable. Sorry, I just had to say that. Love you. Hugs. JB

I am going to look at Easy Spirit for shoes then JB. The last ones I bought I got on line were New Balance and have been wearing them for 2 years 'cause I haven't been able to get any others that fit. I need narrows and there are so few of them out there.

I'll bet you all of those stores you named for clothes, leading with LLBean, everything is 100% cotton. What do you wear for tops? Those are what I am talking about. Just blouses, polo shirts etc. 100% cotton and you look like you slept in them unless you iron them.

I went to Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond looking for sheets 'cause I don't like flannels, slick sateens, or 100% cottons. I want some polyester in my sheets. Couldn't find any. The Egyptians, Bamboos, were slick like satins. All I am asking for is a little synthetic in them.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any I was looking for that were made in the USA. I know it is hard to find anything made here, don;t know what the answer is.

Well enough of my b******g. ttyl

Guess Sharon is right, sick in the head lol.

Jen, look at JC Penney website and hunt St. John's Bay ....look at their T shirts, I wear their Vneck with 3/4 length sleeves, plus their polar V neck shirts are super great. But. they are made in Jordan. I love them, I wash them , dry them, hang them up and they look like they were ironed. If they fit I really don't give a S*** where they were made anymore. I am too short and chubby to be particular. I wear a petite large and they fit great.
As for the narrow shoe, that is why I started buying at Easy Spirit. They have great selection of widths.
I get my sheets from Penneys also. Later. Must get back to my work.

Good morning:
well Kim and company are starting to dig out the cars. most of the main streets are passable but getting out of the neighborhood is the hard part. good thing we back upto a main street so its just a block to the main road. Kim is putting our 8 yr old guest on top of the explorer to get all the snow off. we discussed using brooms but the 8yr old kinda liked the idea except for trash bags on the feet.
Its kinds funnyhow the storm developed. its like it formed in denver and built up steam over tulsa. Oklahoma city (OKC)got a light cover... the 3 to 4 inches someone refered to. we usually are the 3 to 4"s and everyone else gets hammered. we broke all the recordswith this one. Most snow in a single day, most snow in february, most snow ever, most snow forthe specific day.
I took some pics and i will get more now that kim and companyaregetting a clear path for picture taking. I believe most everyone will be ok from this storm as I watered everyone a few days pryor to the storm. I am worried about the hosta bed out front, my daylilies on the south side of the house and the fronts hedge material as I did not water them at all before this blast. My one saving grace is they have been in place for almost 2 years so they should do ok.
tonight we are suposed to be 1 degreewith -30 to -40degree wind chill. tomorows low is suposed to be -6then add on the 20 to 30 mph wind.
They say it can be as long as 2 to 3 weeks before the snow is all gone. I am thinking it will be the snow mountains all the parking lots get after a snow fall. Oh yea and they are calling for more snow in a few days... Yipeeee NOT .....

I started to worry about the ajuga cuttings I have coming in next week but i figuired out I can just put them on the seed cart and they will be a lot happier and have a better root system than what they would have had if the were planted outside in 3.5" sheet pots.

jeanette how bad willit hurt the brugs being under 24hour lights for the next few weeks? I went out into the room yeaterday and it was alot warmer than the garage so the lights and heat mats are doing their jobs quite well. I had thought of putting a heat mat under the pots of 2 of the brugsto up the soil temp so they might flower better. Do you think that might help? that is assuming I can keep up with the watering of them.

Sharon what color rain lilies do you have?I have a few of the pink ones but want to get the other colors plus I want to get more of the pink ones. I did manage to get seeds for the pink ones and they do germinate. the problem I had was staying on top of them asit was last summer and i was have the hit and miss issues with my back. I will try to find where I put the seeds and share if anyone wants any, just let me know and please keep reminding we in dmail so I will get it done. I get side tracked way to easily....hey look at that Squirrel ....lol

wel so far no germination of seeds on the prop cart...it just takes time.
stay dry and JB sorry about this one its a duesy and you mightwant to stock up the shelves.

Huggs

Well JB, I found a pair of Clarks I liked real well in the narrows and lol, wouldn't you know it, the order wouldn't go thru 'cause everyone went home due to the weather!!! Don't know if they shut down their computers too, orrrrr????? The only thing was, I got ripped because there was $8 UPS shipping and almost $5 tax!!

Since the order didn't go thru, I might find them at Penny's or Macys or Nordstroms. Their site said all of these carry them. Will try locally.

I will also try for the tops too while I am about it. Thanks,

Oh BTW, I went in to Easy Spirit and in the athletic shoes they had 2 narrows.

Hi Everyone,
Dave, I am so sorry you got so much snow! Jnette and JB, have fun shopping. I am so tired of sitting on my butt! I hobbled into the kitchen on my crutches while the guys were gone and tried to wash a few dishes. They came in while I was working at it, so here I am on my butt again.
I definitely think you should get that echinacea registered. It is awesome.

Sharon, I will be happy to share the pink oxalis with you. Would you like some of the purple, or iron cross varieties too? Just let me know.

Lee, how can you function in weather that cold? it isn't human! I hope you have lots of wood for the stove and quilts to stay warm. If you need a good book, I can send some..........

Dawn, what's it like in rosamond? I have a good friend who is moving to the east side of lancaster and another friend in tehachapi sent me pics of the snow he got a few weeks ago.

Well, I just thought I would check in. You all are stuck with me now!

Ok I will ask itis my plant different enough to market it or is just a neat plant that is just that neat and not worthy of special promotion. I am asking justbe fair and honest. Would you buy one???

Dave, your plant is a lot more yellow in the center. The others are darker. Would I buy it? I don't know. There are so many out there so the competition is pretty stiff. And the Echies are not one of my favorite plants.

If they were, yeah, I would probably buy it. Being honest. But then that is the same way with any plant. If you are a lover, you buy all you can get your hands on. Have to have every one. And there are a lot of Echie lovers out there.

Las Vegas, NV(Zone 9a)

Linda, I would love any different color or type.

We got down to 21 degrees last night. Broke a record at the airport temperature measurement of 26 degrees. We are closer to the mountains so we get colder than the airport. Friday we are back in the 60s. I took the dogs for a walk today, one at a time. As lo g as we stayed in the sun, it was fine. I did not have on a jacket but I did wear gloves.

I have a few plants that got burned but I do not think they are dead. I have a few that are dead. Geraniums are really whacked.

Dave, I do like your plant but I do not grow them here. Why, I do not know. Never got started on them.

Tomorrow I have a hair appointment so afterward I am going to wonder down to Nordstroms and Macy's. I have some Nordstrom dollars to spend. I switched credit cards so probably the last of Nordstrom dollars. Granddaughters will be disappointed.

I am going to go to the coleus site Jnette recommended to order some coleus. I ordered some from Rosy Dawn. This will finish my coleus order for End of April delivery.

Take care. Jnette, when you say you are narrow, do you mean a narrow minded or is that the size of your shoe...ROTFLMAO

As Always, Sharon.

Lee, the plants has not put on any green but that does not mean they are dead.

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

LOL good one Sharon. If you were close enough I would smack you.
