Weather in your garden # 88

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

DH just called, he's already done a stint the the plow @ work. He's coming home @ 3:30 to rest up as he's next on the plow list again. He tells me the snow is really blowing off the lake. Really snowing here now!

South Hamilton, MA

18° actually that is good as it won't change to freezing rain during this first storm. Fairly gentle dry snow. J-2 will know when I say it is back to up to the faucet on the outdoor hydrant. Supposed to stop for awhile later today & then get nasty overnight. Dryish snow so no chance of snow men or the interesting snow girl in MD.

Thomaston, CT

Went into town to run a few errands......not bad in town, but a little hairy getting there. Our region got the same warning as Victor's....ice, & that's scary!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

we are now on the edge for sleet with the snow

another map is coming around. Oh my gosh had to laugh

South Hamilton, MA

6" of new snow today. It hasn't turned to ice as yet.

My neighbor's icicles.

Geez, that could kill someone

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Tell me about it! There are much bigger ones around. Tomorrow could be real dangerous. Rather have two feet of snow than 1/4 inch of ice.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I agree Victor, will take snow any day over ice! I used to have icicles like that every winter until we got the metal roof. So far, no giant icicles:)
We got 2" today and they dropped our totals for tomorrow from 14-20" down to
10-16"...it's a little better. Unfortunately some of that ice storm wants to try to come ashore into our area but it shouldn't affect us inland...if anything it will be the folks on the coast. Hopefully im far enough away this time......even if DH wants to try out the generator!!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

We only had a misty day here, but my car was ice covered when I left work. Hope everyone stays warm and dry with working heat.
Love that map Jen!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we never had icicles like we have this year.. just nuts.. I am wondering how long the icicle lights are going to hold up under all that.. have a feeling they are going to get brittle under the weight.. could get ugly tomorrow

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Geez, sorry Allison...crossing my fingers for you.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Hope you all stay safe up there!

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

There are already cancellations for tomorrow. Dozens of school districts in Western New York, many organizations and medical offices. Many bingo's are closed for tonight. That's it - truly bad weather when bingo is canceled.

It would be funny if we woke up and there was no snow. Actually, it would be great!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

a bunch of people were talking today about closings in prep of a huge storm, and not a single flake fell...I think it was back in the 70's

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Everybody be careful out there! I just took a spill in front of the supermarket! - Luckily I was able to cross one leg over the other and lift my right hand over my head while smiling as I was getting up, so I 'struck a pose', as if I was break dancing and intended to fall. (- then I got up faster than I fell and made believe I wasn't limping. lol!!)

- It's real icy down here and the worse is yet to come they say, I'll be up before the sun comes up and I'll confirm that tomorrow am! lol!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Ugh. Glad you're okay, other than the funny bone!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, nothing that a little Iodine won't fix.. ☺

Thomaston, CT

Lucky escape, WC.....any fall can be bad! I really dread the ice predicted for tomorrow....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Geez, WC.

Everyone be careful out there!!!

South Hamilton, MA

Right--watch for the ice under the snow.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

2 hour delay at work

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

34° here winds from the East at 12 mph, windchill 21°. Humidity is at 100% and it's raining steadily on this Wednesday morning.

Going up to 42° today, wind shifting from the West later this afternoon. Temps will drop again tonight going down to 22° with a windchill of 12°.

Had to wait until the sun came up and temps hit 32° this am before setting out, it was just too icy out there to drive anywhere. Everything is still covered with a coating of ice now, but the main roads are thawing out. Side roads are a horror..

Thomaston, CT

At least you will be getting warm air.....my temp is 23, & the rain is freezing, but no warm up in temps as far as I know.....looks like another few inches of snow/sleet fell.....just am soooo tired of shoveling!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

graceful wc!!

snowing here still on the snow sleet line for later today - think i will hold off clearing the driveway until late today - no sense making a skating rink - not sure i could be a graceful as wc :)

working from home again

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Just lucky Bill, just lucky.. ☺

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

IT'S HERE AND HOVERING!
It's only 10 degree's out there.......more wood on the fire please!!!!!

freezing rain here, very little traffic going by, thank god for the 5 foot snow bank in front of my fence. It's been bumper car city here!

Thomaston, CT

Not one vehicle has passed by here except for one plow.......

Naugatuck, CT(Zone 5a)

Thankfully, with all the snow on the ground, my roses and tree peonies r pretty protected from the ice. So far, only lost the one hydrangea tree to falling ice.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

white out conditions right now

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

big time freezing rain here... I am staying home

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I can hardly scrape the ice off the sidewalk with a shovel! I'm staying home from work, too. Nice vacation day with 5 cats wanting attention and then fighting or worse when they don't get it. I'm going to email my boss and tell him I'm not even going to TRY and drive the hour into Danbury and then take a nap!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Everyone home. I see a layer of ice out there. Turning to rain now - it's 32 degrees.

Wife drove 35 miles to work yesterday and NO patients showed up.

Amherst, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning everyone.

Current Conditions for Buffalo:

Snow
23°F
Feels Like: 9°F
Wind: 18mph
Humidity: 93%

The bulk of this storm did miss our area. We got a few inches of snow overnight and a little sleet. From what I can tell it is not over yet so we still may get hit. I hope not.

Have a blessed and wonderful Wednesday, folks.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Lucky you, Dave. You guys deserve a break once in a while!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

still snowing hard - think i will put on the snow shoes and go for a walk in the woods out back at lunch for a little exercise.

South Hamilton, MA

34° A mixture of snow & freezing rain. Plough roll has been removed, but DH will be spending bits of the morning clearing the car so it can be backed out & the rest of the driveway done.
