Don't worry Allison. Dexter had that surgery but it was more extensive because the easier surgery doesn't work too well on larger dogs. He came through just fine, but I had the same reaction.....how the heck does someone keep a Lab "quiet" for 2 to 3 months??
Komondors are tough, tough dogs! If they perceive you to be a threat to their family, they will take you out. permanently. I loved the Deerhound. I think that's the kind of dog many of the NE gardeners need. They'll run down a deer without breaking a pant :)
Victor, love the fox pic. If there is an animal that seems to be part cat and part dog, the fox is it.
I kind of liked the dreads on the poodle. More natural looking than the comb out.

How did she do it?!!
the vet was shocked to see how well she was getting around like that.... for weeks I thought she pulled a muscle... would be better some days.... and worse others... even on 3 legs she tears around the house... I have steps by the bed & couch ... she does not use them... I didn't think it was serious or I would have brought her a while ago.. feel bad now that I waited so long
no clue Victor... she went into the yard and came in limping... either on the stairs or slipped on ice... who knows
Allison, did the vet try any other therapy before the surgery, or is it totally torn?
Casey did it last year in the snow, but it was damaged not completely torn. She's 13 so we opted for medication therapy rather than surgery.
Allison - so sorry to hear about Lily's ACL surgery. Molly had that surgery and the surgeon strongly recommended she have aquatic therapy (underwater treadmill and swimming in a therapy pool) in order to fully recover because of her age. She was 10 when it happened. We were so fortunate to live 3 miles from one of the two aquatic therapy centers in the state. She also had to do a lot of timed walking therapy right away. Thankfully, she recovered fully. Good luck to Ms. Lily!!
I liked the bearded collie too, Robin! We had a beautiful collie when I was a child. She earned her name, Lady.
Sorry about the injury. I didn't know that she played basketball.
They said only surgery will fix Jily's leg.. if left alone she will get really bad arthritis.. Iris she is a sprinter not a B-ball player.. LOL
Track and field can do a number on the tendons too!
looks like she is running drills every day.. back and fourth across the yard
Oh, so sorry, Allison.....our Jazz, very large airedale, had a torn ACL at age 10.....had her operated on, but she only lived for 6 more months.....she had a heart condition, & it was just too much for her....I like the standard poodle in cords....better then the shaved look....I've also seen Havanese that were corded.....Iris, I agree about the Peke....the year I went to Westminster, there was a Peke in the finals....as we were walking to MSG, some ladies next to us said they wouldn't come back if the Peke won.....didn't look like he was even able to walk on his own....we agreed heartily!
Just dropped off Jily... won't know anything until after 3:00.. going to be a long day
Good luck!
thank you
Please let us know how she's doing!
all good out of surgery... he said they got the ligament nice & tight now.. and it was completely ripped... took a couple more bad teeth while they were at it... want me to call at 9 tomorrow to find out when I can pick her up
Great!
doc said if she was a larger breed.. she would not have been getting around like she was... he was amazed on how being only 9 pounds has such a huge advantage
good to hear
So glad to hear it went well, Allison! Keep us posted on how she's doing. Sweet thoughts for a speedy recovery coming her way!!!! And plenty of good thoughts for you and Randy too! {{{{{{ }}}}}} hugs!
thanks Louise.. you guys are such a great support unit!!!! {{{{{{{hugs back}}}}}}}}
Cute photo!
aaaaaaawwwwwwwww too cute.... Jily would curse me out for sure... she did when I put her in the kiddie pool a few years ago in summer... Lily used to go in with her mom before she passed... Jily "the cheerleader" did not like her hair wet... LOL.. she hopped out quicker than I put her in.. and cursed me out big time.. not sure if that would fly with her
Oh Yay, I'm so glad to hear that her surgery went well. JIly, after a bit of recuperation, will be a very happy dog.....cause she has GREAT parents !!
aaaaaaawwwwwww shucks!!!
awww shucks nothin...it's TRUE!

hate seeing that kind of stuff.. poor baby
I'm glad there was a happy ending. Looks like a Maine Coon cat from the picture.
it has been a .. is it 9 yet... is it 9 yet ... kind of morning
:)
oooohhhh I feel so bad... she is stoned on meds... 3 legs shaved.. and all the way back to her butt on the one they did the surgery on... they did not put a cast on her... so I can see the staples.. pretty big incision.. pain patch on the other back leg... but she is home and in a crate already went to sleep.. no exercise for 3 weeks... only short leash walks 3 - 6 weeks... and they said expect good weight bearing 6 - 8 weeks.. the puppies started barking before and she chimed in already
So happy that Jilly is doing well! Loved the face on that cat....glad they found the owners, because my stepson would have been right there getting that cat......he & his wife love Maine coons, they have 2 mixes right now, but would have taken that one, as they are so close to the Berwicks.....
Oh, no! I cross-posted.....should have warned you how she would be acting.....Jazz was out of it for a long time, & she was 92 pounds!
