This is the big day. I don't remember 1969, so it would be a real thrill to be going to the big game!
Coffee Break #52 - JETS!!!
Lots of truth in this.

I think television can be even worse, I've seen families just sitting, staring and laughing at a 'box' and not talking to each other.
Not to mention garden websites. ^_^
LOL
Yep, they're the worst!
Oh, absolutely, garden websites top them all. No one on garden websites actually gets out and does anything, do they?

Almost skipped this thread...thought it was for sports! LOL
Off to the viewing for our young friend...actually sick at my stomach...
Ronnie, did someone die? If so, I must have missed it somehow. My condolences.
Whenever I hear Jets I think of West Side Story: "When you're a Jet, you're a Jet all the way, from your first cigarette, to your last dying day.", etc.

Yes Karen thank you...it was a young friend of my boys, 34 I've know him since he was in first grade with my oldest. Very sad...3 young daughters. I hugged my boys real close tonight and my husband too...counting my blessings today for sure.
I'm so not a football fan! LOL I was actually happy our "Eagles" didn't make it...LOL not to mention what a big fan I was of Michael Vick...grrr
You got to be kidding me !!!

Six year old article! Not sure how credible it is.
Wow - at least 30 dead in Moscow suicide bomber blast.

So sad
What's wrong with this world...
I don't know, but if I can find a better one I'm outta here!
Me too...
I was in a better place today....first grade....except when the kid peed on the floor!
hee hee
Oh no!
Did it freeze?!!
Robin, I don't know how you do it.
I was an aftercare director for 6 months, that was long enough for me to work with kids.
Yes, I agree. Not easy.
Very sad, Ronnie.
Crazy about human genes being added to rice. I know corn is genetically modified to be resistant to herbicides. They can spray the herbicides in the cornfields to keep down the weeds, and the corn will be fine. Only problem is that we're eating herbicide residues when we eat anything that's derived from genetically modified corn.
We do live in a crazy world.

Victor - I can imagine that many doctors wouldn't be bothered by doing surgery where healing is greatly hampered by the weight that partly caused the knee problems to begin with, but I personally have a cousin who is a surgeon who feels it isn't ethical to do the surgery under conditions where the healing knee cannot carry weight at a certain level without compromising the recovery. I also have a classmate/friend from here who is an orthopedic surgeon who feels the same way. My neighbor here who can almost not walk was told she is not a candidate at her weight, so she is working hard to get her weight within a healthy range. To me, it's just common sense so you don't have to repeat such a surgery in a short amount of time.
I agree completely, Louise. Unfortunately, it just does not happen like that very often. When most of the candidates for that surgery are very overweight and not likely to lose weight, the surgeons would be eliminating a good part of their income.
Same thing with heart procedures. Most people go right back to the dumb habits. It's probably the same patients for both procedures!
I hear ya, Victor. I'm sure there are some doctors who have every good intention and belief that some patients may lose the necessary amount of weight to make it work with the surgery as the motivator, so I suppose it may hinge on just how overweight the patient is, and the potential for weight loss during the recovery. As we both know, there are more wonderful doctors than there are those who have lost their perspective, and as with any profession, you can always find someone who will take your money, but at some point personal responsibility has to become a part of things. And believe me, I know that the same holds true for lawyers as well!
Oddly enough, the word cannibal just popped into my head. ^_^
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Not that there's anything wrong with that!!! :)
Lawyer 1: 'I hate my client.'
Lawyer 2: 'Then just eat the potatoes.'
Wow - 25 years ago was the Challenger explosion. I remember waking up for a late class that day and putting on the tv. The sight of that distorted trail was sickening.
I also remember seeing happen live on TV with my son and his then girlfriend. It was total silence as we could only imagine the worst scenario and that's what happened.
My stepson, Mike, was living on Merritt Island at the time & saw the launch.....he had sent a lot of material to Garret before the launch.
The day before I went to the park with DW and shot off an Estes rocket, it exploded 10' above the ground. It was the first rocket since I was a kid that had ever exploded. Two MDs saw the explosion at the park and asked me if it was solid or liquid propellant...
- thank goodness I didn't put a mouse in it.
oh LOL, WC
Took a nap after dinner, now I'm WIDE AWAKE.
I usually go back to bed and finish the nap at 5 am. (lol)
