Hope you'll check all the wonderful photos on our last thread. We came from-
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1150012/
Think I'll start off this new thread with this Slate-colored Junco which is still at my feeders every day. I know most of you see these every day, but it's a rare sighting in our county.
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL #375
Excellent start Duc. Beautiful pictures all but I really like the shot of the junco. I have been trying all winter to get a good one but they are so flighty. The kite is nice too. If I had a kite nearby I think I would camp out, waiting for a photo op.
Ditto to Dave's comments, Duc. The White-tailed Kite is one neat looking bird. I'll have to look up some information on it. We occasionally have a Mississippi Kite visit Maryland but I have never seen one. Great photos, as always.
Duc, gorgeous start to this thread and nice ones on the last thread too. I've tried so many times to get a good pic of a kite. Never have!
Nanny, I would love to see a tree sparrow. Very cool!
Hack, stunning photos on the last thread. Can't believe you got such a great shot of a kinglet. That pine warbler is awesome too.
This Cooper's Hawk showed up just when the sun was trying to come out. The dirty window didn't help either!
Thank you all for your nice comments on my photos.
Dave, the log that my junco is standing on has several holes dug out of it in the top. I put chopped peanuts and a glob of chunky peanut butter in the holes twice a day and the birds have learned to stand there for a longer amount of time while they feast.
Nanny, your junco is so cute. You're right, their legs look more like pins than legs.
Elphaba, great capture of your hawk-even the tail end.
Teddy great photos of your wp!
Wonderful start to the thread Duc.
Loved the Warbler and Kinglet on the last thread Hack.
Nanny, those little guys do have skinny legs! Just noticed that.
Elphaba, like the Cooper's Hawk and the Warbler. BTW, your winter "bloomers" are great too! LOL
Great pictures of the Woodpecker, Teddy. Awwwwwww that little Dee is so cute.
Great pics everyone!
Duc, Thanks for starting the new thread. I love the Junco pic too.
Elphaba...great pic of your Cooper's & I want one of those Pine Warblers!! Our Cooper's was very busy this mornign trying to get something to eat. I saw it out here 2 times this morning.
So nice to see you Steller's Jay, Tiger!
Teddy, very nice shots!!
I had a small group of Robins out in the trees on Wednesday afternoon!
Nanny, mine came back too! I took some more pics but haven't checked them yet. Took the dogs to the park and there were a ton of pine warblers. Nice robin!
Tigerlily, beautiful jay. I love those.
Teddy, cute chickadee. How fun to hold it.
Cute junco, I can't decide if he was just hunkered down to warm his feet, or sunk into the snow. I try to get the bird as close as I can, but these birds are so flighty, I have read where some of the people say they have seen the Juncos eating at the suet cakes, but I have never seen them do it. All I have ever seen them do is eat under the thistlefeed feeder and the regular feeder. They are so cute with the dark on top and the white underneath. My red-bellied woodpecker is a regular visitor now, but I have to step inside the door to warm up, as I said there is no heat in the entry way, and the amount of very cold air coming inside the door shortens my interest when my toes are freezing! But I get warm and then I go back out again.
You gotta see these photos!
Amazing photo's of birds at 1/8000th of a second...

Fantastic flight photos. thank you for posting them.
teddie--juncos are usually ground feeders.
I love everyones photos even if not spectacular. Even those shot through windows.
The Junco's I have here love to eat suet, they also use the thistle feeder a lot. The sunflower feeders are usually too busy for them to get at so they are on the ground below them. Normally there are more of them on the ground.
Nice shots everyone!
Cool capture of the abarrant behavior of the Housefinch, Elphy! Hah, they seem to be more creative than we give them credit for. lol. I'm going to share a pix of Ringbilled gulls taken almost a week ago. There were so many of them fishing here, I just love the scenery.
I'm heading out to the local Eagle nest with hubby to find out if there are any activity or any lucks on capturing some pix, will share when we return later. Have a good birding day everyone.
Is this a starling? It does not look like the ones I have been seeing. I was wondering if it might be a flicker? I don't think it is a female because I did not see any red on the head. Not much of a picture taking day, too cold to stand out there and wait for the birds. I saw the red-bellied woodpecker but did not stay around and I have not seen him since. The Blue Jays were busy this morning with the bread I put out. I have finally gotten the squirrels to take a second look at the platform, instead of using the $14.00 bottle of hot sauce, my hubby had a bottle of Pure Cap and I mix that up with the seed.
Hi Teddy, Yes that is a European Starling.
Awww, red, the snow and grains mixture gives that last pix a colorful background. Hah, I scrolled back and took a closer look at tigerlily's Steller jay, and her link above; amazing! Thank lily for sharing that awesome retiree-in UK. What great photography.
