Talking about broadcasting seeds....I tried it recently. I love to see more birds come to the backyard to enjoy the "buffet". Not sure what type of bird this is:
DAILY BIRD PICS VOL #375
Yep, all Dark-eyed Juncos
Resin
Wooohooo, Resin. Thank you, you didn't know how bad I wanted that Junco. lol. That's my lifer!!! I believe GrannyG mentioned that they feed on the ground, I tried that....and I succeeded!
Ahh, another wowzer, I think I see the Eagle from the last pix once enlarged. I did have a great birding-day!!!
Thank you, GG for the tip on the Juncos' feeding habit.
Nice one of the Woodpeckers Nan. I'm so glad you saw the Eagle too. Wooohooo, let's hope that there are eggs in there.
Nice pics Lily and Nanny!
Well I guess a lot of you are feeling the extra cold temps last night and today. We went down to 10 degrees this morning. Haven't had temps that low since 1995. Wind chills tomorrow are supposed to be worse.
Pelle, this winter is something else! I thought last year was bad, this is but an encore of last winter! We're so dried here, thus no snow. But it has been in the low 20'ish. That's too cold for our area too.
Oh Nan! I'm turning green with envy! My most fav. woodpeckers--and together? Priceless!
Very nice, Kim
Nan, now if you can only get an Ivory Billed Woodpecker to come to your feeder! lol Great shot.
A Pileated and Flicker together!!! great catch Nanny.
Congratulation on your lifer Lily
Not much happening here, except I've seen a fox in the early morning hours, a few days ago. It was under the feeders in my yard. I had heard reports of one hanging around, since last fall.
This Starling was eating some snow.
Burn, poor little snow eater! But, there is grapes, I'd preferred grapes over snow. lol. You're so lucky to have so many Redpolls. I like that pic. very much.
Wonderful photos, everyone. Those dear little Redpolls, Burn. You are providing them with such a sanctuary.
Nanny, we don't even have woodpeckers and I'm envious of your Pileated and Flicker together.
LOL. Kim. You'd get a shock if she did end up with an Ivory-billed, wouldn't you?
Margaret, I'm especially surprised that the Pileated wp and the Ivory-billed are not in the same species. I looked the bird up and was at awe that it's extinct.
