Coffee Break #51 - First 2011 Edition

Thomaston, CT

Glad it was successful, Frank! Very weird about the little girl's birthdate....makes you think!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I lost track of this thread for a bit when it went into a new one, but I'm back. My Dad has had no more balance problems and seems the same as ever. Don't know what happened before. Hope it doesn't herald in some upcoming down-sliding for him. That would not be good.

On the brighter side, I leave for my trip tomorrow morning. My flight leaves at 6:15 a.m. I change planes in Baltimore, then make a stop in Milwaukee, then arrive in Phoenix at 12:50 p.m. I will be there for 5 days only. Had to cut it short due to not having enough money for a rental car for 11 days as planned. All the rentals at the Phoenix airport were sold out, so I have to pick one up off the airport, and they have no shuttle, so I'll be spending money on a taxi. Not too happy about that, but there was nothing I could do. Should have made my reservation a long time back, but I needed money for Christmas, and that left me rather broke. I have about $200 spending money. We will be eating most of our meals at the motel. Can't afford to eat out. Will be doing several hikes. Looking forward to that.

Celeste, I like the pic of Justin with his new hat.

Victor, all I could do was shake my head and chuckle over the elderly Swedes and their snow shovel brawl. Same about the fat man, without the chuckling. Sad, but also you wonder how anyone can get to that point.

Wow, what a story, Andy. Glad you are finally home and on the road to recovery. Or are you fully recovered now? Not sure when this surgery actually took place. The journal entries had dates, but were those the dates you entered the writing in there, or were they the dates when things actually transpired. You take care of yourself now. I hope you've found the strength to quit smoking, and continue to find the strength to keep from smoking. Sarah needs you. Nice picture of her, btw.

Tragic about the shooting in AZ. There really are some nut cases out there.

Hey, Frank. I didn't know they did "quintuple" bypasses. lol. I get the urge for a cig but I'll never light one again. I swear it's how the Native Americans are getting revenge on us Europeans for stealing their land.
Sorry if the dates confused anyone. My friend transcribed the story as a surprise from many months of posts for a story that runs only 2 weeks. It was something I added to when the urge hit me. It would read much differently had I posted it as it happened, probably incomprehensible. I went into the hospital May 17th and got home with Sarah in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Yeah Andy, my doctor set me up for a routine "scope" thing. After I woke up they told me they were going to keep me and the next day (1 June 2000) they did the procedure. I do have to admit I haven't had any chest pains since. I still smoke a pipe though, oh well, se la vive! I've made my choices and take full responsibility for them. I enjoy my pipe but don't inhale as much as I did with cigarettes. Haven't had a butt in ages - believe it or not they make me sick!!!! Go figure.

Up to my waste in some spots and still coming down and drifting about. Getting to the feeders and baths is a daily adventure. The upside: it will be a VERY good year for the spring bulbous things methinks ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow! Pics??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just read Murphy's Law of Lockers - if only two people are in a locker room, there is a 100% chance they will have adjacent lockers! How true, it seems.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I shall pictify now that my figgy pudding as fixed the 'memory card full' blinky thing ^_^

Wonderful Victor♥♥

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, ladies!

I need to get a new kitchen faucet. Any recommendations? Was thinking Moen or Kohler. The existing one, which was here when we moved in, is a Moen. Any feedback??

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Very happy to hear that good news, Victor! Also glad to hear that MIL is coming along well. I hope you can exhale now!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

What a koinkidink Victor, my tru luv just happens be in the lighting and plumbing fixture busyness. He says both Moen and Kohler are good but Kohler is better quality. He recommends Grohe the most though as high quality like Kohler but better price. I REALLY want the kind of facet that turns off when you touch the spout.
