Fini but without the hyde

Thumbnail by Bettypauze

Cut my hyde (put it on front only) but can't find my glovers (sewing needle) a must to get through the hyde..I also use high grade thread so it does rot through the years...

I now have 4 ready for the hyde...thanks Barb for edging me on..amazing what one can do when they are trying to be helpful..lol

Barb, one last thing before I call it a night..when you have one of the front or back panels done before you go further you can embroider a name on it..

Morning everyone!Just can't sleep so decided I might as well get up and do something productive. But it has to be something quiet as DH needs his sleep - so here I sit on the computer.
Tree is up and decorated. Love the fesh smell of the pine in the house.Also decorated the 6ft and 1 of my 2 3ft feather trees.Just waiting for Santa to stop by now.My DH never had a stocking until he met me, now you would think he invented it!! Imagine being 30 and never aving a stocking, I initially didn't believe him. His family always openede gifts on Christmas Eve and then slept in on Christmas Day - my whole family thought that was a nutty thing to do.
Betty the dickies look wonderful. I am going to try one - think I know where to get some hide - DH has a devil of a time being outside in the cold, so maybe this will help.
Barb I bet Norm was delighted to come home to a festive looking house. I know I would be........ when I was on the road with my business we often didn't get home until Dec 23 and the house felt so empty without Christmas decorations that our first priority was to get a tree up asap.
Debbie I am so sorry and actually angry at the way Shannon and Mike were treated by Sears. Not only do I think you are right to go back with them to the store a written letter of complaint to the "powers that be" is in order. I know Shannon is niave but am hoping she is learning how to stand up for herself by watching/listening to you.What an excellent gift she and Mike thought to give you!!
DH is feeling much better today but not until after 2 visits this week to the dentist. Doc ended up stitching the gum to cover the jaw bone that was sticking out. When DH went in on Friday Doc was very unhappy with the situation and ended up carving out a piece of jaw bone so DH would find some relief. DH is as happy as can be now but wishes Doc would have done this in the first place. The tooth that I lost the crown off of needs a root canal. *SIGH* Radiation is sure taking a toll on my teeth. Doc put the crown back on and sent me home with antibiotics. He is leaving today for 2 weeks so will do the work in January. Oh ya - the crown came off again today. Doc told me to fill the crown with vaseline and put it back on. Not sure I want to chance swallowing this gold crown while I am sleeping though.
What are everyones' plans for Christmas - going away, staying home????
Need some coffee, maybe I will make another batch of shortbread since DH demolished the first batch.
~~~~~~~ to everyone.
Dianne
Morning all..
Dianne, my dad and father-in-law had breathing problems and could not go outside as the cold would play havoc with their breathing, once they wore these they had no problem..if you can't find hyde I can pick some up at Tandy Leather just down the street from where I work..they had remnants..I was thrilled to get 5 out of what I bought so worked out to $8.00 each - a real bargooon..lol If my instructions don't make sense just ask!
You'll have to show us a picture of your tree and decorations..as for the smell of pine, I've got all those arrangements in my crafts room, they sure beat odor freshners. The oasis now are thawed so I can do the florals this morning.
Nothing in the world like a toothache, such tremendous pain..yikes, part of the jawbone..hope they gave him painkillers.
Sorry about all the problems with your teeth, can empathize with you, had to have all of mine out before I turned 21 due to illness, been through 2 sets of dentures but no pain there, simply take them out and slip in new set..not a fan of dentist.
That's what you get for baking so early, you'll have to hide the 2nd batch, no wait a minute, we want some to..
As for Christmas think it's a tradition of the french to open gifts Christmas Eve, well after the strike of midnight. We'd all go to Grandma's entire families, couldn't move for people, off to midnight mass, come home and we'd have a feast, meat pie, cabbage rolls etc. then Santa would arrive at the door come in and sit and give everyone their gifts, not sure how all of them got into the house, guess we were in shock that santa visited and were too in awe to think about that part.
This year the boys will come late Thursday night or early Friday morning and we'll spend the day and have our Christmas and open gifts late Christmas Eve night. Santa will deliver parents gifts as usual on Christmas morning, they have to leave about 10am but we'll have time to go to Greg and Melanie's to watch them open theirs, usually about 5a.m. Sure am looking forward to it..
Dannie the woman who will be staying here will have her boys I think on Christmas Eve day as well, my only concern about that, and don't get me wrong is their sitting here watching everyone open gift after gift after gift when they don't celebrate..hasn't been an issue for them as they are home schooled and don't hear what other children get..might decide to pick up a little something for them ..
Keep looking at the clock as well and thought I'd get up and go to Walmart before the crowds start, just going to get dressed and off I go.
Lots to do today so gab on my next break..
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
Good morning everyone. Boy, you ladies are sure up early.
I'm one of those who cannot breathe in the cold so you KNOW I'm staying put today. I'm hoping to get out tomorrow and get some yarn to try the neck warmers. Betty thank you so much for all the instruction. I'm sure going to give it a good try.
Of course, it would be nice if we had some snow!!!! All around us and all we have is bitter cold (it's only 12 degrees here now) with a dusting gone to ice here. We are hoping for at least an inch or two before Christmas. My son David works at a ski area in the winter driving one of those big CAT snow groomers and he is thankful for man made snow so that he can work!!!! The snow keeps going south of us, then wraps around to come back from the ocean side and ends up north of us!!! We are in the hole in the center!!!!!
I got the tree finished yesterday and today it is clean up the sewing room. What a mess in there trying to make last minute things..... I had it all looking so good not too long ago..... Oh well, as someone has said -"That's what Christmas is all about" so I'll go with that - heehee.
Off to start some laundry - bbl
Victoria Harbour, ON
I can send you snow Barb if you are really hankering after some..perhaps a few flurries Christmas Eve would be in order..they are saying that snowmobile trails and ski hills have been blessed this year..not normally able to snowmobile this early and usually man made snow for the hills..guess outdoor enthusiasts will be out in full spring.
Wasn't happy last night when Kyle called to chat, was telling me his dad might try the ice today..don't like the 'might' and as far as I'm concerned it's much too early..told me he is wearing his floater suit but that didn't give me much encouragement..told him to go tell his dad that the first one on the ice sometimes means first one in their grave and that I don't need..know he's very level headed but sure wish he'd wait until the tree line goes up!!!
Went to walmart and it was already busy, didn't realize only one cashier open until 9a.m. - well, line up was a mile long, should have paid for my goodies at the electronic dept. when I was paying for the iconnect xbox games
Thought I'd get my tire changed or purchase new one but they didn't open until 9a.m. so thought I'd come do the floral arrangements, call for appt. then pack up the vehicle with arrangements and go get that done and deliver the florals..
Thought of you all this morning, sure wish I could have shared some of the florals with you..here's a rose though
Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON
All done,thought there might be a few roses left for me but NOT!
I'm with you Barb, you clean your rooms and 2 seconds later you think of doing something else and whammo dirty again.
Think before I set out it would be good to clean the craft room..right now in one corner it looks like a knitting gallery, the other corner a floral nursery and the other corner, filled glass and supplies for making jewelery tomorrow..can't have company come play in such a mess...off to clean..
Had the bright idea NOT to sprinkle arrangements with sparkles until I get them outside..
What are you all up to...
Good morning everyone!
Well, I have a batch of choc. chip scones in oven,will drizzle a little frosting over them when done. So come on down. It is trying to snow a bit, will go out later and take care of birds, clean off the ramp and cover it with a trap. Maybe that will help me some. You ladies are sure busy this morning. I'll see what I can get done.
Betty, those skates are darling and I like the neck warmers. They would be neat to make, but I don't knit, maybe someday I'll teach myself. The kids that snowmobile would love them or even having to be out shoveling snow in the wind.
I decided I'd put up a little 2ft. tree on the one stand and that will be our tree. I have to get the cleaning done. Would like to take curtains down and wash, but that will be later.
Dianne, hope you guys don't suffer too much with your teeth, this is a heck of time to have that. I had to have full dentures by the time I was 23. I always had cavities in the roots, so that's the way it goes. I've only had one set so far, have had to have bottoms repaired, but thankful I don't have to use anything to hold them in.
Barb,I bet your house smells nice and festive. The only time I ever had real tree was the first year I was with Tubby. Him, I and some of the family went out and cut our own. I was alot of fun. We've had fake ever since. I talked to a lady the other day who has 13 trees decorated at her place. I can't seem to get even one done.
Well, you guys have a great day and chat at you later.
T&S
Ames, NE(Zone 5b)
OMG! Betty the arrangements are gorgeous. Anyone receiving one should be touched and honored. There is nothing like something made by hand and you do beautiful work. I'm jealous. I made rings one year with tree trimmings and you sat the plates inside of them. That was alot of fun and looked really cute, but the centerpiece would be wonderful, as you can move it from place to place. Take it easy out there when you go do deliveries. Chat later!
Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)
I learned yesterday that you can have fun with family, even the not-so-great ones and you will feel great. We had a big family dinner at my daughter's house. It was chilly and overcrowded but we exchanged gifts, ate lots a great stuff (my son-in-law has built a huge smoker on wheels), and laughed.
We outlived the oldest meanest family member, the next oldest quit being mean and she's a joy now, there was lots of joking around and laughing but mostof all, my daugher and son-in-law clearly loved what they were doing for everyone.
It was great.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Breathing deeply, smelling the scones Shirley..13 trees, wow, have 4 and thought it might be a bit much, no, I don't think it is but my boys sometimes do..lol
It's blowing and snowing but not heavily, will wait until later this afternoon and it it clears then I'll head out..with Christmas music playing, trees a glittering and knowing I'm one step closer to the finish line I don't have to rush out, it can wait a day or two..
Just called DIL Melanie and Suzanne and told them if passing coming from town to please drop in and get their centerpiece.
Tarp might help Shirley as long as it doesn't snow too heavily that you have to pull and tug at getting it off and end up injuring yourself.
Might be fun learning how to knit, never to old you know..good passtime in the evenings NOT that you don't have enough on your plate right now. How's Tubby this morning, bet he's eyeing those scones!
well back with an empty garbage bag, once it's all thrown in the bag it looks half decently clean.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Betty, nice to see you drop in..perhaps the other elder was the one making things difficult, glad you all enjoyed!
Did you have turkey on the smoker, they say it's quite a treat to have it smoked??
How wonderful that your daughter and son-in-law got you all in the Christmas spirit..think that is what's most missing in families, all go their own way, no time for one another..laughter sure is good for the soul!!!
Is it a snowy day in your neck of the woods?
(thunder)Wildwood, FL(Zone 9a)
No snow here LOL but darn cold again!!!! got to go to work again !!1 oh well happy to have a job in these tough times.... working every day (night) right till the 22nd..then I am off 23rd to 7th of January...going to NC to see son and his family...as he will be off on an ''Army job"...about 14 months long :( the two other boys are going to visit for a few days, leaving here tues morn, coming home thurs...we will leave here thurs after they get home..... strange Christmas emotions this year...so very "up" to be seeing son and GD!! and so "down" that son will be going off for so long!!!
well I am off to get a shower, and get ready for work...Y'all have a great day...be safe in your travels...and stay warm....
Barb, I have a hard time breathing in the cold, glad you can stay in!!!!
Hugs to all!!
Lexington Park, MD
Betty those centerpeices are amazing.
Shirley glad you put up a tree. How is Tubby doing.
Busy finishing some quilts. And will doing binding while watching football on tv.
Victoria Harbour, ON
Thunder, you enjoy the time with family, know you worry about them being sent to different locations..prayers for them, give them hugs and say THEY are appreciated by all.... 2 weeks off (?) - few more days to work and you can then put your feet up..how long will you stay in North Carolina? Must find it funny when everyone goes south for Christmas and here you are going north. Please take photo's..
Laura, doing much the same, sitting watching t.v. while finishing odds/sods..you'll be glad to see all of that behind you.
June just came in, I got the pretitest scarf from her, gave her a floral arrangement so one less sitting on the basement floor.
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)
Betty-LOVE the arrangements!!!
Guess what I am getting for Xmas?? Yup-you guessed it-a new sewing machine!!! It isn't an expensive one, but the sale price is great and I think it will do for my needs and wants:)
Victoria Harbour, ON
Holy smackers Stacey, can't believe the savings..you will absolutely love it and it will do all what you sew...how exciting is that..Santa already told you what would be in his bag? lol
Been to walmart, fixed my tire and did an oil change of course needed new filter, and, guys say I should have new tires but didn't have my size in stock so get new ones next week, lordy, car sure did well for Christmas.
Dropped off 3 arrangements, had to bring 2 back, nobody home, just took a chance that they would. Brought Bernice's and of course she reminded me of the party tonight, would rather get into my jammies and put my feet up but the festivity ,
muscicians coming and treats who can resist..omg her house if Victorian, it's like going into a show place..wish it were mine!!!
Ahhhh can only dream!
Ohhh must tell you, had one of the knitted neckwarmers in the tire shop knitting the band when a woman asked what I was doing, told her, said her son snowmobiles and wouldn't it be grand to have one, asked if I'd make one, told her $100 because of time/wool/hyde ..said she wanted one and would call me at the beginning of the week..we'll see..so Barb maybe it was meant to be that I made that extra one yesterday to show you how..good turn turns into another good turn .
Now to find those glover needles...
(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)
For that kind of return on an investment, I'd spring for new needles!!!! That's wonderful Betty. I'm off to see my two littlest grands. My two angels. They are Almost 7 (next month) and 3 1/2 ... I must get pictures this time. They grow so fast.......
Victoria Harbour, ON
Enjoy your time with the grandaughters and yes, would love to see photo's...
Barb when you think of it, especially after you make one and see the cost you'll know why you have to charge $100. and even at that no big profit..not bad with me using knitting machine but for hand knitters, wouldn't go into that business..lol
Did find glovers, did 2 of the 4, already wrapped and under the tree..off to Bernice/Cliff's for a bit, been sneezing all night so don't want to pass what might be the start of a cold on to others..would stay home but she called and said come even for 1/2 hr.
Off I go..
Some of you might remember Bernice's young daughter who lost her hubby when he was electrocuted a few years ago while on a job site??? Well, she and the gentleman you see sitting will get married over the holidays..the vows will be said New Year's Eve 2010 before the strike of midnight and the Minister will pronounce them man and wife at the strike of midnight 2011..so glad to see her happy!
Betty, it looks and sounds like you had a great time. The fire place and decorations are beautiful. Enjoy your time with friends tomorrow. I can hear the laughter now. The stories that will be told, oh my!
Debbie, that Kylie is a doll, it makes you want to pick her up and cuddle. The little dress she has on is precious. You will always cherish those moments. We are so blessed in so many ways.
I just about have my cards written out. It makes me sad when I'm doing them. I cry and get very sentimental at this time of the year. Just have a few more to do and will send out tomorrow.
Sleep well evryone.
Morning all,
Imagine, this is Christmas week, all knew it would arrive, some ready, some rushing..wether or not we are ready it will come!
Looked out the window and it's snowing, just so glad I don't have to pray for a snowday, got me one..lol
Everyone will be here by 8:30, Darlene because of the snow might come in with Mike on his way to work but that means being here around 6:30a.m. so I thought it best I get up and make some muffins..will make extra's..banana and apple cinnamon, now don't you get too excited because I might find other things to do and they could be a little brown, ok Debbie perhaps burnt.
Excited about having the Christmas party this morning, usually we work with canvas or wood but I've bought enough supplies to entertain us and hopefully some of them will have a few pieces to give as gifts. Know I've a few to make myself but that can be done any day this week.
Coffee getting cold, gab on my next break; always nice to come chat with the early birds!
Ames, NE(Zone 5b)
Good morning all!
Betty the muffins sounds great, but I know they would be all gone by the time I got there. Just enjoy your day with family and friends. I'll try to finish up the cards this morning before our busy day starts. I will cover the ramp with tarps after I get Tubby loaded, there's a chance of wintery mix today.
I'm enjoying my second cup of coffee.
To everyone, have a great day!
Lexington Park, MD
Betty enjoy your gathering this morning and muffin was good.
Shirley you are up early. You have snow your way also?
Great day to all.
Hoping to finish binding and wash quilts and box up today if fingers will last.........
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)
Betty-the machine will be from Janice....my mom wanted to get it for me next year for Xmas, but with that price Janice said I could forfeit what she was going to give me ($$ to get some clothes) and get the machine instead...now I am so excited I can't wait to get it!!LOL I forgot to tell you-I have a friend who is just getting into sewing, and she wants to make a rag quilt. I tool pics and will do a little tutorial for her as well just like the ones you do:) So glad you had fun at your party and what a neat wedding for those 2:)
Debbie-what an adorable picture!!
LK-I would say I get sentimental at this time of year too, but I seem to come to tears easily for the last month or so, and am sure it isn't just the season-probably a little postpartum..
Betty-be VERY careful until you get your new tires-with all the snow up there you need them and I will owrry until they are on your car!!
I have to get my window fixed today. We went to a Xmas party for Chris's work last Sunday when we got that storm and the driver side window froze so when DH tried to roll it down it wouldn't go. It must have come off the track because when we turned down our street a piece or ice flew off a light pole, hit the window and it fell off the track...DH put it back on, but not quite right, so now i have to go and get it fixed:( Will pick up the ham, a bottle of wine and may stop at Kohl's as they have slippers on sale and I need a new pair-only like a certain style;)
Glenview, IL
Good Morning.
Oh Betty, I hope you not catching a cold.
So glad you went to Bernice and Cliffs Christmas gathering!
Yep, He sure does make one excellent Santa, lol I thought that a couple of years ago,
when we sent you the Birthday party in a box...
What a wonderful Wedding.
Betty, I just Love the ice skates! Thank you for sharing.
oh and the table pieces are incredible!! I sure hope you and the ladies have a fun day today, Can't wait to see the pictures!
And you know, I just love chatting with you too, maybe a calling card will find it's way into my stocking!
How sweet Barb and Thunder. I hope you will have a fantastic visit.
Great present Stacey, you will have hours of fun with your new sewing machine!! Awe, can't believe Jonathans already 3mos. old!
And i just love that you and Chris are making his first Christmas so special...
((((((((Mary))))))) (((((((Joyce)))))))
Waiving Hi to Crissy!! Know your super busy, I hope it is all going well.
Debbie, Debbie, man i am so glad Sears made good. To bad you and kids had to go through all that in the first place.
Aww, what a great gift for you! lol, We don't have a real family photo either, every year we are going to do it and dunno, we just don't.
Sabrina has a really good camera and still has the lights from school, so We are thinking to do a Family shot before she has to return it to school.
OH MY GOSH, Baby Kylie, is absolutely Beautiful.
Dianne, I was so smiling at your decorations! Sounds to me like you really enjoy decorating for the holidays. I agree, just love the smell of the tree...We finally have ours up, but it is undecorated! We were going to do it last night, however, the kids got caught up in wrapping their gifts...It was just the neatest fun thing to watch in all their excitement. I also finally finished my Christmas cards and off to p.O. this morning. Hopefully everyone gets them before the weekend. (by the way Mary, sent you a d-mail)
LOL, Birdie doesn't know quite what to make of the tree, which might be a really good thing.
Yesterday, I was watching the inspiration channel. Finally caught the Movie The Nativity and another beautiful story, I just love Christmas movies of all kinds...Hey i know you all like to read, Have you read the Angel series?? They are by Debbie Macomber...
Waiving Hi Shirley and Tubby. I've enjoyed reading your posts Shirley. Glad you are getting a lot done. How nice you have a small tree.
Hmmm, i have been thinking about Tubby's ramp. I wonder if you could rig up a plastic tarp over it, it will shield the ramp from snow and water. hmmm, I am going to discuss with Steve how this might be done for easy removal and recover.
Oops, got to run, jakes done with wrestling...I'll be back in a bit.
Glenview, IL
OK I am back...
So one of things i wanted to tell you.
Remember i was telling you about Aarons mom. her name is Judy and is very shy. Well I had her over a couple weeks ago. We had a very nice visit. While i worked on a christmas craft, Gave her an ornament size stocking to play with. She hadn't finished it so sent her home with some floss and she finished it at home. Aaron came by the other night and showed it to me. It is so cute! Anyway, i sent him home with an invitation to come tomorrow. I figure we can work on the Bonus Christmas workshop craft in between. We have decided to intermix with Baking Christmas cookies!! We are both really excited about her visit and baking and crafting.
here is her little stocking.
Thumbnail by Seedtosser1
Lyndonville, NY
Oh Judy, that is the cutest little stocking! What a talent she is. I know you will both have so much fun crafting and baking.
I have only seen pictures of Kylie since November. Britt has really had a hard time and is truly afraid someone is going to steel that baby from her. There is too much drama in that young girls life, breaks my heart. In the grand scheme of things....I know the photo issues are small things. But it just bothers me how people just don't care how they "do business" or treat others these days. And taking advantage of "kids" like they did...knowing most likely they could get away with it...really got me upset. A parent shouldn't have to go and fight for them like that.
Lyndonville, NY
Judy, I meant to comment on Debbie MacComber. I love her books, especially the Christmas series with Shirley, Goodness & Mercy! Oh, they make me laugh..cry and all the emotions, but such fun and good ending stories. I have read them for a few years. Actually have that on my "Nook wants" list for Thursday.
Glenview, IL
Yep Debbie, they are the cutest Angels. Got the book last year from someone...This year set out to find the new one.
Now I really want to find the first one, They get all the emotions going and I love that they are wonderfully nice stories.
I hope you get the new one for your Nook!
So, I hope that you all will show us your decorated trees!
Alright, i have been goofing on this computer all day now, so i best go out and get some shopping done.
(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)
Goodness, I have been sitting here for days wondering where everyone is, and I guess I missed the link for the new thread!
Hope you all are doing OK! Scrolling back up to read what I missed!
