We're within weeks of solstice. Though that means we face three months of cold, at least the sunlight starts to make a comeback!
Today's Weather in your Garden - 83
45° & sunny. Not enough sun to help me find my glasses.
It's 40, cloudy, & very damp....walked the dogs early today, so we'd miss the rain.....was thinking about the longer days, too, Victor.
Wind is picking up
Been raining for a while now - lightly. 50 and depressing.
50 and rainy
51°, wind SE 19mph, rel Hum 71%, cloudy, misty
At our high of 51° now, very light mist/ rain just starting here just as I finished mowing & fertilizing the lawn for the last time this year. Wind and rain expected to increase throughout the day & night, becoming heavy by am.
Spent the day outside planting bulbs. We probably have 3 more days of planting to do, but it was going well with our trusty electric auger and dibble. I am holding up OK and, as we have rain coming tomorrow , I can rest up for planting again on Thursday. Patti
Wind from the ESE at 10 MPH
Visibility 10 miles
Sky conditions clear
Temperature 46.0 F
Sure enough rain started at noon.
Take it easy Patti!
flowAjen, I will try, but I actually need to get my body going again and soon! This month I have been an active as a slug and need to find some energy soon. I did get all my mom's Xmas gifts wrapped and mailed so she can open one a day until the 25th. That was my big effort for the month. Now I just want to finish the bulb planting and other garden chores this week. Then I can think about Xmas.
But I already know DH and DS are going to get very little this year for gifts except things that I have made in the pottery studio or cooked and books. DH made an executive decision today and axed doing stockings. We all agreed to this as we all still have tooth paste, soap etc from 2 years ago. Kind of sad, but I think it makes sense.
We are going to spend a long period over the holidays in Vt. This eliminates doing much in the way of formal decorating and entertaining. We will have a tree and put up a wreath, but the rest will be putting out a few flowering plants and pine cones and greenery that I can snag from the woods. We will hunker down by the fire with a pile of books. If it snows DH will go skiing and I might, if I feel up to it. I will go see Boojum and a couple of other pals, but mostly we will be home alone. DS will get up for a couple of days from NYC if we are lucky. He works way too much!
I assume we will get rain tomorrow, but Thurs is suppose to be Clear and 47° F | 36° F then Friday will be Partly Cloudy and 45° F | 38° F while Sat is Partly Cloudy and 41° F | 38° F so the bulbs will all get planted. No frost. Patti
sounds perfect Patti
Sounds like a nice relaxed holiday Patti...and needed after all you've been through this year. ^_^
37 at the moment, rain later today with winds kicking up tonight and gust into the 40MPH range again.
(Yeah I know, like the big deal they made about that hurricane earlier this year, that was a fizz-out too..)
57°, wind SE at 21 with gusts to 38 mph, light rain & mist.
Rain & winds increasing with gusts to 45 mph with a thunderstorm on order, high of 58° expected. Black Ice warnings tonight as temps drop 30° this evening to 33° after the storm passes.
Very nice!

Pretty shots!
Driving rain here. Very windy, but crazy warm. 58. 1/2 inch since midnight.
Oh so pretty. Love the rows of clouds in that 2nd pic.
Warm is back today at least for a short time but rain is coming with it. Back to the real world tomorrow. Current temp is 49 degrees under cloudy skies with a light SE wind.
Yes WC, thats exactly why she wanted it. It's next to a plaque with her favorite saying
" Life isn't measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away."
Thanks Pat & Victor :)
Celeste, great shots. No rain yet here. Patti

Over an inch now.
Getting heavy rain now.
Approaching 1.5 inches since last evening.
The temp is wonderful for Dec....it's 55. However, it was raining so hard, & the wind was blowing so fiercely, I couldn't see across the road just now....the dogs are hunkered down right against me. Pixie, those sunrises are awesome!
No rain yet, so we got a lot of bulbs planted. I keep thinking it would start. DH is still out in the garden tamping down the newly planted ones into their new homes. I was pooped so he sent me inside. I just checked the radar and the rain has reached the Vineyard. Now I hope tomorrow is nice so we can soldier on. Patti
Wind from the ESE at 24 MPH gusting to 31 MPH
Visibility 9 miles

Gonna be freezing tomorrow night when my little one sings at a tree lighting.
