Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Rita, love your Regale, it's one of my favorite Anthuriums. mjs, what a cool picture for Thanksgiving and Candela, you got some very nice plants from giancarlo.

Rita, do you grow this Anthurium? I purchased it as Ace of Spades but I can't find any information on it.

Hello
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and is enjoying leftovers today.

mjsponies, It is good to see you! That is an idyllic scene. I hope that they are not disturbing your flower beds.

candela, I am sure that those plants will make you smile from time to time remembering the fun time shopping with your friend. It will be easy for you to find names for them going through plant files. The plant that had the big leaves is a Anthurium Faustomirandae. That Yellow Croton is very nice !

RachelLF, It is going to be another freeze for us tonight, I can feel cold air in one of my hoop houses but can't locate the source. It is worrying me.
Sorry, I don't have a Antherium Ace of Spades, but will work hard on obtaining one, it is a beauty!

Such beautiful gardens, a joy to see in this cold. the tree across the street has lost all of its leaves over night and now the street their yard and half our driveway is covered. Our Big elm will prolly lose its leaves tonight.
Love that last plant you posted, Rita
Candela I agree it is good you get to be a caregiver to all those plats from your dear friend. .

Good Morning Everyone!!

Joeswife, thanks, the fall colors are unsually vibrant this fall in my neighborhood. Unfortunately for me, not many leaves on the ground to cover my flowerbeds.

This is another of my prized Anthuriums

Good Morning!!!!
This is always the most wonderful thread!!! The beauty never ends : )

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh golly, Rita, what are those things? Are they seed pods?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Ha ha ha ...they kinda look like Queen Emma seed pods :}

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

prita...please tell me the best way to start a Bromeliad Basket...I was recently given a couple of NOIDs....and don't like them in the ground as they are more of a mosquito nesting ground than anything...

Red Oak, TX

Hi All!

Kimarj, we thank you for your kind words. I have been enjoying and showing off the plants that you sent me. The Black Castor bean plant was a star this summer, everyone that came to my yard got a start of it.
It is good to see your post! How was your garden this past summer? What was your prized plant? I hope that you took some pictures to share. I have always enjoyed seeing your garden.

Joeswife, Kim is correct, those are seed pods from a Crinum Queen Emma.
I have been growing those for over 10 years and that is the first seed pods I that I have seen on them. I do have a few plants to share, if you do not have one already.

Sam is blooming for the first time.

DirtyGirl71,Bromeliads are the easiest plant for me to grow. For my Bromeliads baskets I usually mix my potting soil with landscapers mix 50/50,or get some Orchid mix.
Make sure that your pot has drain holes. I like to use the coco fiber liner basket from Lowes or Walmart. The hardest part is to keep the plant situated in the basket until it gets established.
I water them every two weeks. Good luck

I found a flower stalk on this Donkey Ears plant this morning while attempting to transplant it. I will wait until after it flowers, as this will be the first time flowering and do not want to risk breaking it.

Thumbnail by prita

Rita, the last Anthurium you posted a picture of is stunning but I admit, I am scratching my head on which one it is. Is it Big Bill? Please post a picture of your Donkey ear plant in bloom. I had one of those several years ago but never seen a bloom.

I just about missed getting this picture from Alocasia reginula.

Thanks Rita, you sent me a Queen Emma, she is inside now , on her own throne. I spent the day re-arranging the basement nursery, had to cut back the jasmine, hibiscus, cestrums, and Iochromas. Now I have a Bucket of starts. I also had to cut some of the tropical milk weed and pink chi chi.. everything was just getting too tall and too wide.

I love that donkey ears, is it a kolancho?

Red Oak, TX

Hello Everyone!

Rachel, That is Anthurium Colonicium.

I am glad that you caught that bloom in time, I know the feeling of finding a spent bloom that you have been waiting on for a while. Another one is accidently breaking a branch or flower trying to get a closer look.
You know that I can' t wait to show that Donkey's Ear bloom.(grin)

Joeswife, that is a Kolancho, it is quite a cool plant, it has lots of babies. Let me know if you would like one for next spring. I can tell that you have enough to keep you busy till spring. What is a pink chi chi?

Thumbnail by prita
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Rita, the pink chi chi is otherwise known as mexican ruella, (petunia) I have it in purple and pink, I love them so much. I do have a lot to take care of here.. Thanks for the offer, but I think I will just gaze at your plants for awhile.
I wished I would have taken pictures of the blooms I had this summer on the EEs I had. They were cool looking.

candela, did you ever post blooms of your leopard plant?

Nice pics everyone. jealous of your nice warm tropical weather! :)

Rita, thank you for letting me know which Anthurium it is and your newest Philodendron is a very beautiful plant. I have a Anthurium for you and will send it soon;-)

Debra, a few of my Alocasia's that I bought in doors for the Winter are just now given me some blooms. I bet your basement is full of blooming plants right now...please share some pictures.

I thought I had lost this Cercestis mirabilis a couple of months ago. Luckily it has rejuvenated itself and appears to be doing well.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

That is a very pretty leaf on that Cercestis mirabilis, Rachel. I bet you were happt to see it.
The Christmas cactus upstairs in the pink room is happy right now.

My Polly is happy in it's new location.. sorry about the closet showing there..
Buddahs hands keeps wanting to go to the light, so I keep turning it.

Thumbnail by joeswife

Yes mam, I am thrilled to see my Cercestis mirabilis making a come back and thanks for sharing a picture of your C. Cactus in bloom. My two bloomed for me a while back so I will not get to enjoy seeing them again until next year. Your Aroids look very happy too;-) Great growing Debra.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Last year my CC was still blooming in February. I think it was confused. I am confused on anthurium care. The ones above in that post seem to be stunted at growing. Should I re-pot them? Is it the soil? They get brown on the tops of the leaves. I clip those off. I am afraid of any kind of leaf disease.

Hi All!

LiliMerci, we are pleased that you are enjoying our pictures. We had our first freeze last Thursday night and are expecting another tonight. I do have most everything thrown in the GH, where I can take my time, trimming, spraying and re-arranging.

Thumbnail by prita
Red Oak, TX

RachelLF, I love to hear those success stories! I hope that your Cercestis mirabilis continues to thrive. It is a beautiful plant.
I just can't say no, to a new Anthurium. Thanks very much!

Joeswife, That is a very nice display. You did a great Job growing your Polly. They all seems to be very healthy. I love your teal pots.
I would go ahead and repot that anthurium in a very loose soil. Mix in a little orchid potting soil and ensure that it is not sitting in water. It might help. I like to keep my Antheriums in hanging baskets where the water can drain quickly.
My CC are just sitting there with no signs of blooming any time soon.

Hello everyone, somehow I lost this thread. Moving in the last of my plants today, supposed to be 27 tonight. The wind is blowing up to 20 mph and I am putting off going outside, but I have to do it, so I guess I shall head that way. Have a great day!!
