Great job JoAnn getting those meds lowered.
My sisters are so much older than me I didn't have to go thru all that fighting so I really liked it.
Thanksgiving plans???
Sister sleepover sounds like fun - can I sneak in?? ^_^
If you dress the part!
I'll have to shave my legs again!

Iris,, I like your Christmas menu...duck, I've never eaten! Pixie, I have a sister you can have.....she is 8 years older, but I had to hide my babysitting money so she wouldn't steal it....I could go on & on but I'm trying to be charitable.....
I had duck a really long time ago.
Saw a show on the history of Thanksgiving last night. Very interesting. Lots of myths out there about the origin of many of the traditions.
Victor, you ever go into see the Macy's parade?
I saw it twice - from a warm, comfy hotel room - right at the level of the floats! It was great. Both times the weather was freezing.
hotel room, huh????
Yes, my BIL worked in a store in the hotel and his boss got the room.
Nice perks!
The sleep-over requires more than smooth legs Victor!!!!
Bring your pedicure kit and favorite polish. Gowns are on the list too I emagine
The TG duckling is domestic. I don't like wild duck as they taste like what they ate last & it was something in saltwater. It is dark meat all the way. If we had turkey which DH doesn't really care for, we would be eating it until christmas.
my co worker is getting a turducken ... I told him to take pictures
I hear thats a really tasty dish.
would like to try that sometime - not on t-day though
Doubt I would like the duck part.
SIL is off to Virginia Friday. Wont be home until its time for the Neighborhood party at this house this year.
I am in charge of decorating the porch. I thought a lighted tree and wreath.
DD and GD will have to get the livingroom tree.
I have picked lavander and a lime green small leaf plant from the planters. Making Tussy-Mussy for the wreaths.
love duck
Heard it can be oily. Not true?
I think I've only cooked duck twice in my life, the first time do find out if I liked it and the second time because I forgot how oily they were.
they are more fatty that may be where the oil comes from - all dark meat!
I have DH checking on it. We don't use its gibblets to make the gravy, but he says not 'oily' to him. Yes, all dark meat--but I usually eat the breast/
Jo, the tussy-mussys sound lovely! Those colors are great together. Doug & I were given a turducken 2 years ago for Christmas.....we gave it to Garret & Kara who were entertaining a bunch of classmates over the holidays.....they eat anything!
Well my kitchen is all prepped for tomorrow. THe only thing I didn't pre mix or pre cook was the potatoes for mashed and the corn casserole(I thought if I premixed it it would get too mushy)
Made my apple pie.....smells SO GOOD!!!
We are going to friends for dinner, but each of us does a mess of food. Here is our part. I made a smoked trout pate as well as a pork pate with our own juniper berries to serve with various cheeses and pickled veggies and olives. DH brined a turkey which he is smoking in the all day. I cut up today and have ready to roast in a maple and rosemary oil, parsnips, several types of winter squashes, carrots, Cipollini Onions, and 2 kinds of sweet potatoes and beets that I will and finish off with some toasted Spanish almonds. I am making some sautéed kale from the garden in a hot bacon vinaigrette as well as some Brussels sprouts as well from the garden, just to keep my husband happy. Not a big fan of the BS. I will make up a big batch of dressing with apples and sausage to go with the turkey as well as some local cranberries that I will make up into a sauce with orange and clove. DH will make our sons killer corn bread that is drenched in a Louisiana cane syrup and will make anyone who eats it weep. Our friends are doing a regular turkey, mashed taters, a couple of pies as well as who knows what else, plus some great wine, so for 8 of us we won't starve. Have a great day all. I am so happy to be off of my liquid diet and can eat turkey....yummy. Patti
Just in time, diet-wise Patti.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!
- and don't forget the Turkeys! Happy Thanksgivings to the Turkeys too! Yippee!!
Without them we'd probably have Pigeongivings or something...
After all the 'first thanksgiving' had venison as the main meal.
I hate those Prix fixe menus.
patti you forgot the directions to your friends house!!! sounds great:)
Just came back from getting a Chilean chardonnay for tomorrow and some thanksgivings stuff and I found (2)$20's and $250 in Indian rupies? - neatly folded up in one of the empty parking spaces! Yippee!!!
( it says 'Rupees', lol!)

We go to my BILs, there will be 28 for dinner 32 for dessert. I do the turkeys and of course a pasta dish for those darned Italians, corn, apple cake and toffee bars. It's a tough day for them so I don't mind, at least I don't have all the clean up or set up. Better to just have to transport the food! My DIL will bring bring sweets and green beans. My SIL does the mashed and biscuits. It's nice, no one gets stuck doing the whole dinner.
During dessert and drinks we all go around and say what we are thankful for. It's fun, the little ones always come up with something off the wall. Makes it all worthwhile!!
Wishing all of you a very Blessed, Healthy, and Thankful Thanksgiving♥
Yay!!! Patti gets turkey!!!!!! Congrats and enjoy!!!!
Sounds like a nice celebration Ronnie, have a great time!
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone here at DG!
I am bummed.. found out my co-worker is saving the turducken for another date... running around to family today (every holiday they run to 5 places... just nuts)... so we won't have a report today.... and no photos
:(
but happy thanksgiving all... hope everyone has a great day & meal.... may there be no dry turkeys today!!!
David and Lindsey are making their first Thanksgiving dinner, he called me once so far for help, said he'd call me again today. Lindsey is working til 6, so he is doing all the cooking. She actually did some pre cooking yesterday, but not sure what. He is the cook, and is trying to teach her. I think it's cute they are making a meal for just the 2 of them.
They were talking about that turducken on the radio yesterday, but I didn't catch much of it.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Happy Turkey day Deb.
I'm at my sister's today. We put together 10 different pies yesterday. The only way we can do this is that I make the dough ahead of time and store it in the freezer until pie day. It's still a long process to make 10 different pies in another kitchen than your own, but having the dough ready helps. My sis is having 10 people so everyone is excited about the ratio. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!
