More SUN and flies awakened from their sleep .. had a bottle of coke on the table, half full .. walked away for 5 minutes, came back and there were about 4 flies inside the bottle doin the backstroke in the coke !!

Trying to get together my presentation for the Hospice forum tomorrow night .. WHY do I wait til the last minute !!!!
I think I work better under pressure perhaps.

Betty, hope your leg feels better quickly.

OMG "M" did you make that pie..love the way you've made it extra special with the leaves, lordy, I'd not be cutting into it!!

Maybe you leave it because you knowyou've all the knowledge and the ability to do it 'off the cuff'

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Betty - what's up with your leg????

Marilyn - that's a beautiful pumpkin pie!!

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

awwwwwwwwwwww Alli looks so happy & contented ^_^

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Looks like Allie is about to say something ^_^
What a sweetie she is Jen ..

That pie was a 'S T R E T C H' ............ I had seen a pic of one similar on a cooking site I frequent .. I thought I'd give it a try .. WELL .. ever try to find a LEAF cookie cutter !!! I had to order it .. but .. all turned out A OK ...

Called SEARS re the arrival time of my washer and dryer tomorrow .. doing a SLOW boil .. was told .. 'anytime between 8am and 5pm !!!! Nothing more specific than THAT !!! So .. we wait ..... why do I have this incredibly fearful feeling it'll be 4:30pm and there will be a problem !!

Betty .. you are SO correct .. I do tend to give most of my presentations 'off the cuff' .. I actually prefer it that way and have decided to make the one tomorrow more or less a question and answer typa deal.

SOooooooooooooooo happy I cooked lotsa stir fry last night .. cuz .. it's BACK on the menu for tonight LoL

Marilynne - I hope the washer arrived in good condition. That's a nice looking pie. Where did you find the cutter?

Jen - she's really cute. I love the smiles.

Went to dentist for routine cleaning, but when I mentioned the sensitivity I'm having in an area that has had a root canal, they checked further and I'm now headed to a periodontist. I wonder where this will head. Nowhere comfortable, I'm sure.

Tomorrow I head to Vancouver for a few days. DH is presently in Calgary for a meeting and we decided that since he was so close it made sense to take a trip out that way. Will return to Ottawa late on Monday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Hope you get frequent flyer miles Ann, lordy you are always on the go..yikes, as I've said before, I'm rather glad I've no 'teeth', haven't had any 47 years...forget what they feel like, however I do get toothaches, guess the nerves are still there...good luck with your appt.

Jenn, she's absolutely gorgeous, lordy it doesn't take long for them to grow, did you get to take her out on Halloween? Just got to say, you should be doing scrapbooking professionally, maybe you could give lessons in your home..how's hubby's job going?
Would imagine you are getting this cold as well?

"M" need to know where you got your leaf cut out as well, going state side tomorrow night so will check some of the stores..sure gives pizzazz to the pie.

Good luck on the delivery today, hopefully it will arrive, unscratched by noon today..

Brrr..just warming up..

Susan, enjoyed gabbing with you last night..not sure what is with my right leg, perhaps standing on cement cutting for hours upon hours for workshop kits, dampness, who knows, most likely if I went to the doctor's he'd just say 'old age'

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

"old age" indeed!! I wonder if your Dr could keep up with you?!?!
I always enjoy talking to you, Betty - I so wish we could meet...........

The weather here is "odd" as per normal. When I woke up it was +7, then between 7-8am it Drops..... well, it's now +3. Then it will pick up again in an hour. Don't know why, at the beginning of the day it drops, but it has Something to do with the mountains.....

Victoria Harbour, ON

COLD..we should all pack our bags, rent a condo in the south and not come back until April..would be cheap if we divied up the cost..I could bring my little travel trailer, fits 2...who want to go with me? hmmm what route shall we take and who can we visit for din/din on the way down?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

You could drive your trailer from your place straight West, then you'd be able to see everyone at the top of the US, and bottom of Canada!! (including me, of course). That would take a couple of months!! Have you put winter tires on your car, yet? I know you maintain it very well....... ^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Actually I don't 'snow' tires on my vehicle, I put 2 new ones on the front, the front ones go to the back and that's all that is needed..I have an extra festure that when I'm in snow, I press a button, not really 4 wheel drive but very similar..was showing Crissy when she was here how neat it worked..got to do that soon..

Getting antsy again, trying to decide what I WANT to do at Christmas..everyone is always so busy, don't really have anyone to travel with (don't you dare say 'your mom'-know she wants to go to her place in Florida) but with Christmas being on Saturday, I could have Christmas Eve day with family then skip town.. have about 10 days off and could take a few extra's

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

http://www.sugarcraft.com/catalog/cooky/cookyleaf.htm

Above is the website for 'SUGARCRAFT' .. it's chock FULL of 'good stuff' !!!
It's a US location, near Cinncinnati .. a place named 'Hamilton, Ohio' .

WINDY here to day, and, unfortunately, nary a PEEP from the people from 'Armstrong the Movers' the company contracted by Sears to deliver appliances/furniture etc. Very disheartening .. and I am not really liking staying PUT at home ..

My parents used to spend their winters (Oct til April) in a little city called Boca Raton Florida, then Deerfield Beach, and lastly Sebastian. Truth be told, in all my visits I was never really impressed with Florida .. found it kinda humid .. and unsafe .. GREAT shopping though LoL
Have relatives in Arizona, and I much preferred Flagstaff in northern AZ, simply because you could go to the Grand Canyon quickly and easily .. LOVE the Grand Canyon .. surreal !!
Maybe we could go to California via Western Canada ~~

Hope your leg feels better soon Betty ..

I best 'hurry up,and, wait' !

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yes, yes, yes, Marilyn - through Western Canada, indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well "M" from about Texas I've done all the eastern states, so wouldn't mind doing the route you suggested BUT, we'd be fighting blizzards crossing west in Canada right? thinking me and my Aveo with my little travel trailer attached, could look for a few more, make kind of a convoy to fit you all in..lol

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yaaaaaaaaaay Betty - bring the convoy to Calgary!!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty - the last time I was on an airplane was August. We DID take a trip in September but that was with DH's antique car. I collect aeroplan points, but we often get such cheap tickets on seat sales that we don't get many points. Lots easier for us old folks to travel west than for them to come east.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

yeah, you keep telling 'em that, Ann!! We have less snow, and it's more temperate here. Just a "pain" going through Saskatchewan though........ wide open and Windy! Pass through quickly!!! (butt not so quickly they 'catch' you near Regina, where the RCMP headquarters are!!)

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann, why is it cheaper going from here to there vs. there coming here? bit odd isn't it?

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

I know it's cheaper to go Stateside, than through Canada, for gas......

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

SLAY ME !!!!!!!!!!!! GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ... I have 2 beautiful new appliances .. the dryer works, but, everytime we press the power button on the washer .. a fuse blows !!!!!
SO ... have not only the furnace cleaner guy coming tomorrow, but, an electrician as well .. SIGH .. so near yet so far away ..

Presentaton for the new Hospice volunteers went well .. always seem to enjoy doing it, but fret so prior to ..

First evening for a woodstove fire .. temps have kinda dropped a bit ..

Off to bed .. busy day tomorrow ..

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG "M" you are not having much luck with the washer/dryer, how frustrating it must be!

Can't keep my eyes open any longer so saying night/night

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

~M~ I'll bet it's like our old breaker box - you need a stronger breaker.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, overcast and cold, calling for possibilities of snow for the weekend, no sense complaining, it will come regardless of my feelings!
still 'yuk'

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Well its official, we had frost here last night.. I got most of my plants out already. I know you should wait for the frost to get them first, but with a little one, and soooooooo many roots to dig out its was easier to just get started... Only a few more that will be tackled this weekend and were all closed up for winter. ERRRRR i said it, its almost here, sad just sad

You ladies with snow or some on the way, i just dont know how you do it... Its far to early for me...

M hopefully theres an easy CHEAP fix for the washer
jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

You are organized Jenn, perhaps I should have a baby just to be on top of things...drab out there this morning, gives you the sense of doom/gloom.

Leaving tonight for Buffalo, weekend of shopping with the girls, big craft show in Hamburg N.Y. so I'm a happy camper, snow or not..best part is my not having to drive, someone else's turn this year; this is our 4th year going together so know I'll have such fun!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Not CHEAPER - just easier. Just two of us and we travel lighter than with three of them and all the stuff they need for a 2 yr-old.

Anyway, flight was good, mostly smooth and on time. DH was delayed a few minutes coming in from Calgary, but not too long.

We didn't tell anyone we were coming out her; so we don[t have a long list of lunch and dinner engagements this time.
Will decide from day to day what we do.

Ann

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well you enjoy your visit, am sure that grandaughter of yours is now talking up a storm..hope you've warmer weather than here..brrr it's cold

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Betty i have to get them out no later then once the 2nd or 3rd frost gets them.. I have 3 rubbermaid containers and a garbage pail already full of canna roots, and i'm still not done.. I have a 4' x 4' section of just red stripes and a 2' section of banana cannas plus a few pots of elephant ears, oh and 4 datura plants to get out.. Then finally i will be done.. Having the baby didn't make me more organized in gardening really, just makes me get it done cause theres only so much time when hubby is home to watch her.. It will be done by sunday though..
jen

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks a lot of digging, let's hope the bad weather they are calling for doesn't reach you.

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Whoever placed this little black cloud over my head, can REMOVE it anytime now !!!
The electrician was here around noon, he checked out everything .. guess what ??!! It's the dang MACHINE that is the problem !!
I am LIVID !!! AND .. oh my gawd .. calling customer service via the 1-800 #s is a horror .. not only do you get put on hold .. but .. they are playing CHRISTMAS MUSAK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGgggggg !!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOoooooooo .. tomorrow I AGAIN sit and wait from 8am til 4pm for a service technician to appear to fix the machine ..
I called Sears complaints Dept .. the rep supposedly gave me the PRESIDENT'S address (of Sears) .. I totally doubt that, however, I most certainly have fired off an email to said address ..

Have a great mini holiday both Betty and ViolaAnn, and happy digging Jen ^_^

~M~

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sorry "M" I'm laughing but not funny is it..think I'd be returning them and getting another set from local dealer so if you've problems they can rush right over..wow..guess you had to pay an electrician also??? blowing hard, hoping the the cloud moves over.

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

It's really warm here - +20C!! We might get rain on Sunday, but it's supposed to be nice tomorrow & Saturday, too. Gotta love those Chinooks! Thing is, some of my garden stuff is once again showing growth & green! Ah well, temps really drop @ night, no matter what they are during the day.....
Sorry about that )&*(_# Dryer()*#$@@ Marilyn......
Enjoy your trip, Betty!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Will do..

cullman, AL(Zone 7b)

Well M hopefully they do something for you, I know what its like to sit on hold what seems like forever.. No fun..

Its raining here so i got nothing done today.. Did order some more canna seeds though... Rain/ crappy days are bad for my wallet lol... Last time it rained i ordered 6 fake birds of paradise for $40 US they should be here tomorrow lol... No more rain i cant afford it..

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

Still no usable washer :-(
Techs came .. and discovered the circuit board is faulty. New circuit board is on order to be installed nes=xt Wednesday .. i will NOT hold my breath on that.
Figured out MY costs so far (it has been a month) .. 40K return for the laundromat (I charged.40/K seems to be the norm here), use of machines, electrician etc .. $245. !!! Adds up !! Anyway, I wrote Sears and HEAVILY suggested they consider compensation based on that amount. We'll see how far I get and what kind of corporate bafflegab will come back at me.

GOOD NEWS .. always room for that ^_^
Lorna has a NEW prosthesis !! Lighter and easier to manage ... she is ecstatic .. the other one was SO heavy and cumbersome .. so .. a few weeks in this one and then MAYBE on to the definitive prosthesis ... YAY!!!

2 movies to tell y'all about .. 'Letters to Juliette' (Vanessa Redgrave) .. WONDERFUL 'gurly movie' LoL .. amazing scenery as it was shot in Italy .. thoroughly enjoyed it.
The Ghost Writer (Pierce Brosnan) .. odd movie .. still unsure of the content . Lots of rain LoL

Have a great weekend everyone

~M~

TORRINGTON, AB(Zone 3b)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay for Lorna's prosthesis!! Glad that's straightened out ^_^

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

LOL Susan .. LITERALLY 'straightened out'

Got this link in email .. http://www.jcdurand.ca/Monde/Tour.html

I have been visiting LOTS of cities !!!

~M~

PS .. the snippet re Wpg is WAY WAY underdone !!!!

Thunder Bay Ontario, ON(Zone 3a)

OH OH OH .. took a pic of my NON washer and dryer .. there it sits and I pass it on my way out the door to the laundromat IRKS me that's for sure !!!
