Look at the detail....can't wait for more pics pelle!

2 male Purple Finch....not the best time of day for pics at that feeder unfortunately!

Female Purple Finch.....I saw 1 at 2 different times of day...don't know if they were the same bird or not. This was later in the afternoon. She wanted to come down to get water but was too timid.

Congratulation on the new camera Pelle, I can just imagine the nice shots that will come out of it.
Glad to see the Purple finch, they've been MIA here.

Looks like the Red-breasted Nuthatch will be a regular visitor this year. They hang around with the Chickadees and don't seem to mind my present close by.

I've been busy, and haven't been taking pictures much lately. So, I haven't been by Dave's Garden in a longtime.
This afternoon I got a few shots of Bald Eagles, and decied to post a few.

We spotted an Eagle chasing a duck across Spenard Lake. As soon as the duck landed on the water the Eagle gave up the chase. To our surprise it turned and flew strait at us, landing in a tree next to where we had just parked. Looking up we discovered the mate was already in the tree.

Good to have you back Gary! Wonderful pics of the Eagles!

Nanny, Nice shots. Until today I had only seen female Purple Finch in my yard, it was great seeing the male. I'll post his pic in the "Awful Pics" thread later.

Burn, Good pics. So nice seeing the Red-breasted Nuthatch!

It would have been nice to have had better light. The gray sky background made it difficult to get proper exposure.

Thanks Pelle, one last picture.

Dratted downy woodpecker has drilled a couple holes in the garage. I see that we will have to replace a couple of planks next yr.

Hey Gary...nice to see you back here! Beautiful eagles!

Field Sparrows acting like they are going to be regulars this year!

Wow, Gary, your ears must have been burning. I was just talking about your fab photos with a fellow birder yesterday! In case your worried about what I said it went like this "there's this guy in Alaska who took these incredible photos of an owl at the airport." Yep, we were talking about airport birding.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

Missed one day and many fabulous photos-great job everyone! Gary, glad to see you back-love those eagles. Pelle, congratulations on your new camera.

This younger Nuttall's Woodpecker landed on a tree near my yard.

I think this is a female Northern Flicker. They sure can make a cloudy day more interesting.

Here's another shot from out trip to the west coast. I was fascinated with the Black Oystercatchers and the shape of their bills.

The Black Phoebes are sure fun to watch jumping off trees to catch bugs in the air.

We have female Northern Flicker that is hanging around and she can be quite amusing to watch. This is her out by the walk to the front door.

ha. cute nanny!

I have been hearing them in the neighborhood, sounds like a jungle. But they are not coming down to the suet or the ground.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Your flicker is cute Nanny. Ours stay mostly in the trees.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

She has not been at the suet yet but she is always close by and comes to drink almost everyday.

Yesterday I found the reason my birds were disappearing suddenly. Thanks to Resin and Burd for the identification, this Sharp-shinned Hawk flew past me on the deck and then returned to hover above me. Then later in the evening, it actually landed on the deck railing and looked at me through the window. Of course my camera had been put away for the night.

It was hovering here.

The low clouds over the lake made for a pretty background in this photo of a Mourning Dove.

This is a different Bald Eagle than was here last week. I noticed this one doesn't quite have a pure white tail.

Great pics everyone!

I'm down near Cape May and I went on the Monday morning walk at the Meadows today. Freezing cold out but we had a great walk and I got my 200th bird on my life list.
It was a Golden Eagle !!! He came right over top of us so we had great views of him. It was very exciting.

Hope your all doing well. I'll check in later.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

What a great bird to be #200!

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Congratulations Pelle-I do hope you had your camera clicking!! What an awesome bird to see.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Congratulation Pelle.

Gary, so nice to have you back here, love those Eagles. Looking forward for more.

We had flurries today, and who decide to show up on this cloudy day? The Bohemian Waxwings, so no pics.
These last 2 photos are from a few days ago.
