Seriously?

hcmcdole - you got it! Great advice and what mentoring is all about. Information and guidance without the sting. I think we have to have 'tasted' our feet a few times before we learn that both are best left firm ground. Flsusie is right - Watchem should have spent time on the research and not jumped to a conclusion and perhaps researched info to support that conclusion. I can't tell you how many times I have been positive that I've been correct about something medical or scientific and had to really really make sure that while researching to prove my theory that I was open and accepting and unbiased to all the information that may have been coming in that said "nope - you got it wrong."

flsusie - my daughter in law just made our granddaughter Sophia's first Halloween costume - a candy corn kernel! That thing is a hoot. (She has never done more than dust her mom's sewing machine.) It has been an adventure - she stayed up all night finishing it up. When she put on the costume this morning for the kids church party, Sophia looked down and said "pretty, pretty." It is such a skill to be able to sew.

You know your a mom when you "stayed up all night finishing it up. When she put on the costume this morning for the kids church party, Sophia looked down and said "pretty, pretty." It is such a skill to be able to sew."

Well...I couldn't understand why it took so long to make that candy corn kernal since it is one of those pillow case dresses....

Now I understand... the kids brought her by today and she had on the most beautiful Miss Muffet pink checked dress ever. It was so well done -- it looked professionally made. Little leggings with rows and rows of lace, an apron, and ruffled hat and the dress was so beautiful. I just can't believe she did it -- wow.

That sure is a far cry from a candy corn costume!!!! How precious! What a great job, no wonder it was so time consuming. Seems to suit her perfectly too....although I think I'd keep her away from any tuffets...and spiders!!!!!!!

She fell right after that and got a fat lip! So...she can find trouble spiders, tuffets and tree roots!

Our neighbors dogs -- every so often they change with just one or two remaining. Foster pups?

All are gorgeous and aside from Sophia getting them excited always so quiet.

A fat lip...poor little thing...but at the same time....hee hee hee because of the costume. Poor baby, all dressed up soooo fancy and a big ole fat lip. Can just hear her saying, "Twick or tweat pwease" through that fat lip.

really cute. i loved sewing easter outfits and dresses for my neice when she was little. all the other kids were boys and by the time my grand daughter came along i was and am so sick of sewing, i really feel guilty sometimes for not making things for her.

You know, it's funny...I don't have children but I'm always the one who gets called on to do the sewing. hmmmm

I think my most favorite thing I ever made was a costume for my nephew. He had to be a dog in a play at school. He got to choose whatever type of dog he wanted...so, of course, he chose to be a Golden Retriever...just like his dog, Buddy. The costume was made out of a thin yellow fake fur...and I ended up adding a few brown spots here and there to give it some interest. He loved that silly costume...he used to wear it around the house, goofy kid. I think he was about 7 at the time. He wore it for Halloween the next year even tho he had really outgrown it...Gosh, that seems like ages ago...he'll be driving next yr. *Sigh* I think they eventually gave the costume to the school to have it for the play...when my nephew finally decided that if he tried to squeeeeeeeeze into it he'd either not be able to breathe or the zipper would burst, LOL!!

The only thing I've ever sewn for his sister is badges onto her girl scout sash...which she should have done herself!!!!

I do have one niece left who is still young enough to sew for...but to find the time and energy anymore.....will probably have to wait till she has to be a puppy dog in a school play!!

You need to remind him of it.
A photo of him in it ought to show up at his wedding reception someday

Hi Watchem_Grow,

I was in your position as far as viewing posts. Although I'm very new at gardening, I was afraid of the forums where just anyone can chime in. I'm so new, I don't know what is good information or bad, and I figured that if I joined a forum where people had to pay to get on, they would be people who cared enough to know something about what they were talking about, and my chances of getting GOOD information was increased.

YMMV,
Hetep

LOL Missingrosie!!! That pic should show up at his wedding reception...but I'm thinking it might just show up this Christmas too....tee hee hee....I've never been known for being a patient person!

THAT picture should be used as a threat. I tell my kids if they disobey me I will make the photo public. So far so good
