Corey, you do click on Extras then scroll to the very bottom (can't see it at first) to the 2010 Photo Contest. Click on that and then follow the directions to vote. I agree that it is difficult to figure out the top 3 photos, particularly in some of the categories which are pretty broad. Winter and fall in one spot is hard, I'd rather split that up. Same with shrubs and trees. And the mushroom-fungi-herbs-grasses is impossible. Lovely photos, though, nice viewing.

Thanks!
"save" ... "view favorites" ... "make this my favorite"

Pony, your trout are beautiful! Good job!!
Judi, I am glad that you came up with what sounds like the perfect solution to your doggie sitting dilema.
I want to say congrats to Beahive and RickCorey for their first place photo contest entries! There were sooooo many fantastic photos this year, and it is always so much fun to go through all of them and see so many different plants, gardens etc. Bonehead, I agree that some of the catagories REALLY need to be split up in order to make it easier to vote. The two you mentioned especially!
A sad note from our part of the world.... We had another loss in our family... our big girl Bonnie crossed over the rainbow bridge last week. Although we knew it was coming within the next year or so, it still hit all of us like a ton of bricks. We are all really tired of losing loved ones in our family... be they human or furries, and hope that the circle of life will leave us in peace for a while now.
On a positive note, Don and I took his brother and my pup Phoenix to the east side for the weekend this last weekend, and had a very nice time. I got lots of one on one time with my pup... we hunted almost all day on Sunday and even conned Don and his brother to walk with us on our last venture. There is nothing that balms a broken heart more than cuddling and playing with a furbaby.
This is my sweet Bonnie Boo guarding her kitty a few years ago....
So sorry Julie for the heart break. I know that even now you are in tears not having the "one who loves" not being there.
Spent the day walking in the deep snow chasing the almighty buck. Had 3 brush shots on confirmed bucks and didn't shoot. I can't take a wounding that will cause death later with great pain. I have always taken only a known kill shot. Though the snow was breathtaking with all of the grasses and stumps a photo shot with the soft flurry hanging off it. I was briefly temped on a young buck that walked almost up to me. But again I let him go. There is not enough life in 1 1/2 years. Maybe 2 1/2 years! LOL I named him Steve. Somebody has to carry my name into the future.
Sofer, The mark of the true sportsman is the shot not taken. It sounds like you had a glorious day, and after all... isn't that what it's truly all about?
Thank you for your condolences for my baby. It hurts so much when they leave us, but it is a small price to pay for the unconditional love that they give us when they share our lives....
Oh, and FYI... I will not be able to look at a buck now without wondering if it might be Steve!
Julie,
So sorry about the loss of your gal. It always hits hard. Hope it was an easy walk for her. Name one of your lovely daylilies for her.
Thank you, Julie, and condolences! it's good that you already have the pup to remind you that "life goes on" and so should we.
Her picture reminded me of my old Lab "Missy" who faded for many years, and passed on many years ago.
Somehow the guy who raised Labs for hunting knew even as a tiny pup that she was the one to give away. Good natured and beloved she was, but I have to say DUMB. She always barked when Dad came home, but wagged her tail for strangers, including one guy who snuck into our yard and peered in a window. Wag! Wag!
She lived for chasing things. But it had to be too large to swallow, or down it would go, and then come back up on the living room rug. If we made a "throwing" gesture with nothing in our hands, she would head for the horizon, I guess expecting to see it when it came back down from orbit. Once we did that while she was swimming in a lake (BAD kids!) and almost had to go after her to get her to turn around.
Corey
Thanks Julie. I am sorry to hear about Bonnie. That is a darling picture of her and the kitty!
Yes! Congratulations to Rick and Bea. We knew they were wonderful shots. It was really great to see the PNW well represented in the contest. Have to pat daughter Julie and myself on the back for a few "honorable mentions" too. Threre is something really rewarding to see your garden ideas and creations in a photo and then also see that others get visual pleasure out of it too!
I clicked on to the site and it sent me to login everytime. So I am sorry to save I did not vote.
Oh Julie and Sharon it is so hard to lose a beloved furry. Hugs.
Julie,
>> I want to say congrats to Beahive and RickCorey for their first place photo contest entries! There
Umm, thank you ... did I win in the weird category? That's great, but I didn't know it.
Corey
Julie, my condolences as well. I always offer a wise Dr. Suess quote on passings: Don't be sad that it's over, be glad that it happened. I'm sure your dog will live on in your memories.
Aw, man... Julie, I am sorry about your furbaby. Always such a hard thing... :(
Congrats to Bea and Corey! Awesome photos. :)
Awesome photos from all the PNW folks -- beauties all.
Congrats Bea and Rick!!
Thank you very much! And thanks to anyone who voted for me.
I got an email from Melody annoucing it "officially" . I'll have to keep my eyes open and buy a few copies of that calendar to give as gifts!
Corey
Thanks all for your condolences. Losing furbabies is always rough, and this is two for me in a year so it has hit a bit harder than I would have liked.
They have not been very good about promoting the photo contest voting or winners, but you can find them here...

I really really wish that they would make a DVD slideshow of the entries because there were soooo many fabulous pictures that would make a wonderful screen saver.
Great idea.
FYI for those of you who may have your head in the sand when it comes to news/weather (like I usually do).... FREEZING TEMP WARNING FOR THE WEEKEND AND NEXT WEEK!
I will be madly rushing to get all of my last "winterizing" done on Saturday as they are calling for low 20's by the beginning of the week in our area. YUCK!
Here we go again! Does anyone remember last years date of the big freeze in Nov.?
I too have just one or two more things to move. zone 8 babies
Pixy, the little larch tree in the bue pot what zone is it? I pulled it under the eves next to the house. Will that be good or should I wrap it?
Congradulations to all the winners in the photo contest. Think I will buy a calendar this year.
So sorry to hear of your loss RJ. She looks like a beautiful soul in that picture with her kitten.
I've been off line since the storm on Monday night. Just bribed the neighbor with a chinese dinner so he would come and fix it. It was my 72nd birthday yesterday and my DD came with the food and the neighbors came with cake and icecream and we had a fun party.
Happy Belated Birthday to you, Willow!
I just got a look at the photos, and they are all amazing. Thanks to our PNW photographers for sharing your beautiful work, both first place winners and all others. They are all so good I don't know how anybody can vote without changing their mind 3 or 4 times, and trying to vote for them all.
Rarejem, I am so sorry about the recent loss of your sweet dog, Bonnie. She was a truly beautiful soul, and will be greatly missed by you and your pack.
Regarding the freeze: I always manage to have bought a pile of bulbs on sale that arrive in time tor me to go out in the freezing cold and hack at the icy ground to plant. I did get some dogtooth violets to plant in my doggly's memorial garden spot,. I also got some fragrant rose daffodils which are supposed to have an aroma reminiscent of roses...if they survive having been planted in a cold snap before they have any root growth at all.
Yes, a belated happy birthday to you Willow!
Happy Belated Birthday Willow!
It's snowing here, does anyone else have snow?
Happy Bithday Willow! Hope you had a great day.
Snowing here too. Just fine flakes but no accumulation yet. Burrrrrr.
Wow- you guys really got it. It's been snowing off and on here since 3:30 AM, but hasn't stuck at all. (which is fine by me- I have errands to run and my truck doesn't have 4WD.)
I think I got my First Frost and snowfall both on the same day. It accumulated 1/4 - 1/2 inch earlier today ... but now has melted.
The cat was Most Displeased with my managment and let me know that I was Seriously Failing in my responsibilites.
Fortunately he doesn't hold a grudge for long.
Corey
It has been snowing here all day and is just now sticking. Looks beautiful. Below 30 degrees. Will have some pictures later.
Hello my friends. I need a prayer today for my GD Charlize. She was diagnosed with a manlignancy yesterday and they are doing surgery on her today or tomorrow. It will be apreciated by all of our family huddled around Mary Bridge Childrens hospital.
Prayers coming her way from Oregon.
Steve, sending good thoughts your way, and hopes for a speedy recovery for your GD. Keep us posted.
Beautiful photos Sharon. Portland is expecting snow this afternoon but I doubt we will get as much as you guys further north have.
Steve, my heart goes out to you and yours. Prayers and blessings from Don and I.......
Steve, prayers are coming your way from us. Keep us posted. If there is anything that we can do, please let us know. We'll be there ASAP.
Prayers and best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery for Charlize, and peace for the whole family.
Get well soon!
Corey
