Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hey Allison I was hoping you were up.
Have you grown coleus Darth Vader?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Great I want to see how big it gets and what shape it is.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it looked like a small shrub before it bit the dust... and I didn't pinch that one at all... since it was up in the tree

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice neuguini impatiens.
I like it and will most probably get one. I wish the purple centers wouldnt go red.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you.. actually those were seed grown... started off solid .. and then got pink in the middle.. I will see if I can find a close up of darth for you

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks.
Dont go into a spin if you cant find it. I was interested in how a whole plant lookes.
Giant Fantasy is similaras far as RD is concernes, bigger leaves maybe.
We should probably do this on the coleus forum.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Sherrie, what did you use to clean the dog? Peroxide, mild shampoo & water should do the trick.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Sherrie, my sympathies!! DD is going through the same thing. Abby, the Saint Bernard turned one Tuesday and for her birthday she got a skunk!!! Tiffany was not pleased as this dog weighs 130 and Tiffany is 5 months along already!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i can hang drywall and tape/compound/sand - it is a messy job - all the contractors here who do that seem to be french - they can hang and plaster faster than i can even hang - whole job done in a day - and the skim coat of plaster makes for a very nice wall.

of course i then take a shop light in the evening and look at all the walls for imperfections and then fix those up with compound and a light sand - might as well have it perfect:)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I know who I am calling when we need more done... LOL

and so sorry to hear that Celeste!!!

1/2 cup baking soda, took the dawn soap and sqeezed some on the top and then mix to a soupy paste with hydrogen peroxide. It got his head and back. The smell is gone off him totally.

Someone, please save these important tips....

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

good job sherri - i can only imagine how bad it was!

I sheilded his eyes and Jim ran the shower head. I dont know if a baby shampoo would work in place of dawn soap or not?

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I just put these notes in my journal....great information, as I knew tomato juice didn't work but couldn't remember the formula. Did he have to sleep on the couch? Poor thing.

No couch as it was "their" 4:30 out and no back to bed. Xena didnt get it.

Thomaston, CT

There's not much worse than skunk!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the smell of death might trump it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I find vomit and crap worse than skunk.

Thomaston, CT

OK...all are gross! But skunk seems to linger forever!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Actually, I didn't mind too much painting my bedroom. I did stencils (which I made myself), sponging, rolling with a two-tone, texture roller, and some hand painting (the trees). I'll post a few pics.

Glad you were able to get the skunk smell of Mr. G, Sherrie. I will have to remember that formula in case our dogs ever get sprayed.

This is a great time to find the nice JM seedlings taking hold! I've spotted a few good prospects.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Beautiful job Karen, I like textured paint as well as stenciling. We have 3 rooms done with texture paint, one with stencils and 2 with papered borders. Ric

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Ric.

Victor, I often find JM seedlings from mine. I have a tall, red one. Don't know the cultivar name. Maybe it's Bloodgood.

Karen

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I've looked for JM seeds but haven't found any on a couple trees near me

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

with the way i rake they do not have a chance to sprout:)

karen with grafted jm no seedling is true to the tree - it is a new variety:)

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, I kinda figured that, Bill. Just like with daylilies. They're not grafted, but they are all hybrids, and any seedling will be different from the parents, even when the parent pollinates itself. The only way to get a clone is by division, tissue culture or proliferations.

Just finished the final cleanup. Put out the brush pile, did some minor trimming and cleaned out the veggie bed. I think I'm done for the season, except if I go for a bulb sale.
