What are you working on #3

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

LOL Polly. I have been drooling over all of their sibs since last year. The two you mentioned are on the sub list already. Do you know when they start taking orders for spring?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I could certainly see myself using numbers two through four.

Thomaston, CT

Wild Fantasy! That could be the name of the sib hybridized from 2-4! I have Roaring Jelly & Charming Billy...they are nice.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

I've enjoyed reading all your plans while still in the hospital. They are finally sending me home tomorrow if I am good tonight.

Ngam, I am going to have to look up some of your choices. I did manage to send in a Van Engelen order today. It is ridiculous to try to type with all these tubes, but I will be getting some things that I wanted cheap. I wish could have done it yesterday, but I was totally out of it. Mostly little guys. hope you are on your way home tomorrow and glad the surgery is over.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Early Pat, I think around January.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hope all is well, Patti. Sorry to hear you're in the hospital.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Best wishes for fast recovery!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Best wishes Patti. You are in the hospital for a scheduled operation?

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Polly for the info.
Patti that is a nice list. Hope you get released tomorrow and recoup quickly. More pretty bulbs for us to see next spring. You are getting help planting right?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Glad you are over with the surgery. You sound chipper.
Nice sibes everyone.
I just planted a bunch last spring.
They included Charming Billy,Roaring Jelly and Reel Cute a shorter one.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

feel better soon Patti!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hi Patti, glad your heading home soon and I hope the surgery was a success. Thats one nice list you've got there....just don't over do when you get home!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pat, that list of sibs is wonderful!! I have a few and they are beautiful in bloom, it will look stunning when its all done!

Thomaston, CT

Glad you are doing better, Patti. Funny how ordering plants helps so much toward recovery!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Robindog, perhaps I should order some more! Had soup and ice cream tonight. Guess which one tasted best? Off to sleep without people poking me all night long. Delightful. Patti

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Wishing you a speedy recovery Patti. I haven't been posting much since we got home almost 3 weeks ago but thought some of you may like to see a city park in Baltimore. Ric http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1139351/

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice Holly-ann I loved the dragon.
Patti You must be getting better if the constant poking and interruptions are annoying you. Sounds like you just want to bust loose and escape.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Lovely Ric & Holly! My brother lives in Baltimore and has been bugging me to come visit, think i'll have to arrange a trip in Oct. now!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Hope you had a good nights sleep Patti and can soon sleep in your own bed. ^_^

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Ric, loved seeing the shots. The dragon is one of the best uses of mums that I have ever seen. Made me smile. I did have a long a wonderful sleep and will head home around noon as all seems good.

Ge1836 All that poking was annoying, but it did get me home and hopefully finally fixed. I am amazed at all that they medically do, but I was exhausted from having virtually no sustained sleep. Some of the nursing staff were almost worth staying around for or at yet least visiting to drop off a big pile of cookies when I go back in a couple of weeks. There were a few who seemed annoyed with the world, and those were the ones that were short on ability, but most were wonderful.

The best part was that my son was there from Monday until Thurs evening to cheer me on. He had to get back to work early Friday morning as he had to prep to get ready to to do a super fancy dinner for 40 with 4 other chefs tonight in Va at Monticello. I hope he has time to see more than the kitchen as he has never been there. He wants to see the library.

Gloomy day outside, but I might take a short walk just to take in some real air. Patti

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Patti!!
Why would anyone choose nursing when they arent "people persons"
I have been tended by both types and worked for a breast clinic and I can assure you the cookies will be a real treat.
I dont think nurses are paid enough.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Wonderful shots of your travels Ric. You sure did pick a nice place to share with us. Loved the dragon also and the air plants. Is that a century plant blowing through the roof? Hope it blooms. Hope the crime was worth the punishment, lol. Your visit was worth the time for sure, a wonderful fall show.
Patti glad you get to get out and even may get a nice little walk in before an undisturbed nights sleep at home. Fast recovery wishes from here.

Thomaston, CT

There's no place like home to recover......I just couldn't wait to get out of the hospital when I broke my hip.....had to walk up & down a set of stairs before I could be released....had done it before, but when the time came, I couldn't & burst into tears...finally did it later & next day was home with my dog!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Home in my own bed. Yippee. Had two boxes of bulbs awaiting me. One from Old House and the other from the Sunshine coop at the other place.

I am feeling so well that I expect to be able to be outside in a week. Not expecting to do much, but I am sure I can do some general cleaning up and lots of pointing, poor DH. The impatience got nipped, but some roses are still blooming. The dogs gave me a great welcome home. They also did some serious mole/vole digging which will need fixing. We seem to have had a great deal of them this year. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Enjoying the horse racing today. Patti

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Finally got all my bulbs in YAY!!!! So looking foward to seeing what it's going to look like in the spring.
Cut the coleus and did some clean up, planted a few more plants from the RU, sprayed the area with Liquid Fence

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Cant wait to see everyones spring gardens.
You sure sound perkier Patti.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Congrats on getting the bulbs all in Jen. With all the bulbs everyone else has planted I agree with JoAnn there are going to be some mighty pretty spring gardens around here, can't wait for the pics.

My hat's off to those who dig all those holes.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Pat, that's an ambitious project that you're working on. I so want to get some sibs from Joe Pye Weed. I want to get rid of most of my TBI's, as I'm tired of trying to deal with the borers, which they pretty much get every year, so they really don't do well for me. I have not tried spraying, though.

Ric, thanks for sharing that thread with us. Nice!

Patti, glad your home now and hope your recovery will be a quick and easy one. I just don't know how they expect people to recover well with so much poking and prodding and interruption of sleep. There must be a better way to do things. Will your DH be planting those new bulbs for you? Patches killed a vole here last weekend.

Jen, glad to hear you got your bulbs in. I didn't get any this year, but my sister got some daff bulbs. That will be nice to see them blooming in the spring.

Karen

South Hamilton, MA

Warning: sibs get borers also. Clear any pupae before planting next spring.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

They do? Great!!!! Not happy! What do the pupae look like? Maybe I should just forget about iris altogether. I have lots of sibs, though nothing fancy. I've never noticed borers in them, though I have had then eaten by voles. At least I though it was voles. Maybe it was borers.

Karen

South Hamilton, MA

They are little tannish packages. Voles are more common. We have the chippies but not voles as we don't have moles to dig the runs. I don't think moles stop at the Essex county line, but we don't have them here except for the starnose ones in the swamps. don't give up on irises & siberians are not as apt to have borers. I just wanted to warn you that they can be present.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

I've never had borers in the sibs and I have hundreds of sibs. But I do know they get them. The voles don't seem to bother the sibs here either, although I know I have voles. Nothing seems to bother the Japanese irises either.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Karen, it is a work in progress only on paper so far. Have it whittled down to 11 sibs, 12-18 pardancandas close up near the path, and 10 crocosmia. Only thing I actually have is the bird bath.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Those new pardancandas from Joe Pye are really nice. Good breeding there.

Thomaston, CT

Oh, thanks, Polly.....now I have to go look! Glad you are back home, Patti....I'm sure DH won't mind the pointing!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

patti i am very happy you are feeling so much better - and glad your son was able to stay a few days with you - wish i could go with him to virginia! wow he works in the right circles!

spent the last two days mowing leaves and raking beds where i needed to plant all the bulbs i ordered - got 95% of them in the ground - a lot of bulbs........

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

You did good Bill, All I got done was the mowing and leaves! Bulbs tomorrow. Ric

South Hamilton, MA

glad that you could rake, Bill. DH did a little, not a chance to do much & the weather is stinky for tomorrow.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

only a few beds where i was planting bulbs - will start in earnest next weekend - this strom should get the rest of the leaves down i hope. a couple oaks and hickory's are the slackers.
