I agree you all do very well to get all those bulbs planted. I seem to skip a year then regret and plant some the next year. Weather has been crummy anyway here and the leaves are pouring down . I did notice a lot of baby goldfinches at the feeders the last few days. They have been spending most of their time in the garden munching the ripening seeds from various plants. Guess they don't like the weather either. Looking forward to some glorious views from you all next spring.
What are you working on #3
Not much going on here. Rain, rain and more rain. Went down to Plymouth Beach earlier today. The tide was in, and the waves were huge. They were smashing up against and over the sea wall. There were quite a few lookey-loos there watching the show. I took some cool pics, but it was much better in person.
Karen
looks like Niagra.
LOL! Almost sounded like it, too. Sometimes you could hear the crash of large rocks being slammed up against the wall. Often rocks get thrown over the wall, too, so it's not a good idea to park too close like the car in the first pic.
Karen
Wow - some waves! Guess the pilgrims were really aiming for the Caribbean. ^_^
LOL! They would have been much warmer.
Karen
Very cool pics Karen. Angry seas today. Once saw a truck go in the ocean from the old boat ramp by the pier down there in Plymouth. Someone forgot the e-brake. Will be down there for T-Day at nephew's house.
Stop & visit the Harlow House, home of my DH's ancestors! Impressive waves there, Karen.....I would have loved to be there.
Just heard on the news, parts of NE are without power due to the storm. Prayers to you. Ric
We are not without power here, Ric, but thanks for the prayers. Pray that our power stays on.
Karen
nutsfordaylily, cool shots, the sound of the breaking waves must have been amazing. Thanks.
We are fine with power here, and we get ours via a underwater cord from the Mainland. The Island does have backup generators on Island in case we get unplugged. I have candles and the woodstove at the ready, always. It is a fairly common occurrence here. The only real problem is that our well has an electric pump so I always fill a tube for water and big pots for drinking water otherwise we do fine with candles and the woodstove. We have cooked plenty of dinners in the fireplace. Just like camping. Patti
Glad to hear your home and well prepared Patti, I love cooking in the fireplace during storms...and it IS like camping! I love homemade bread toasted over the flames.
There are still over 31,000 here in Maine w/out power. We have crews coming in from New York to assist as winds have blown tree's down and it's a mess!
Thank you New York! ^_^
Pixie, Not good to have so many out, especially those who don't have a wood stove or other backups. I do love it when a part of the country rallies to help during a bad storm. I won't ever forget the ice storm that you and the rest of a big part of New England had in the early 2000's. Horrible sight especially up your way. Stay well. Patti
I think that it is northern NE (like Pixie) & NH who are having the power problems.
I've cooked more than one meal myself on the wood stove. Since we have a pool and hot tub we can usually stay clean and flushed. LOL Candles, lamps, and lanterns are always ready. When we have an extended outage we drag a small generator around the neighborhood running everyone's fridge and freezer. It's a good idea if you have a few solar lights in your garden, you can bring them in and use them with children. They are about as safe as you can get and can be very reassuring to little ones. They can also be very useful when camping. Ric
Here's praying that they all get power back soon.
Karen
horrid to have trees kill someone.
Sherrie, how sad! I thought of that while I was driving in that awful wind yesterday.....many branches were down here & in surrounding towns.
Parts of three towns down here lost power for about 3 hours. Lots of branches, mostly small, all over the yard. Hope the power is returning up there.
terrible
how awful
Terrible about that accident. That's so sad.
Karen
Its been a week now overhauling our small garage. It never had a real ceiling. It had foam square boards all strung up. Looked real crappy and was not effecient. The walls are a board of some type and never had a good paint job. A real working garage wont have drywall on the bottom half as they will get damaged from jacks etc.
The ceiling is now drywall and painting will be starting today. Then Jim will have another week moving everything back in - oh boy - as it took 3 of us to move everything out!
always fun Sherrie
I don't like painting, unless it's painting a picture. That's the kind of painting I like.
Karen
I detest painting. usually have someone do it, unless it's a small area.
Your garage is looking good. I am with Victor and Karen, painting is not a fun thing. I think it is more the prep than anything, but if someone offers to do it, let them, definitely.
Good drywalling is an art. I really suck at patching, sanding, etc. Never happy with it.
it is one of the only reasons for the french

Looking very nice, Sherrie! Hope you finish before snow flies....
Randy can acceptably drywall .. me... no way... I make a stinkin mess... and yes it is an art.. I won't paint ceilings... the rest I don't mind
I don't mind painting, I actually spent one summer in college painting houses with a couple of other students I hired. I do hang drywall but my finishing skills leave a lot to be desired. If I have to finish it, it gets a textured ceiling and stucco finish walls. LOL Ric
oh nnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooo
