No policy of course!
Our hours are counted! Is there a future for exchanging seeds?

Dany - It appears that bill passed. I think most American gardeners knew nothing about it! Seems Big Brother is watching everything here in the USA these days. (sigh)

I wanted to tell everyone that I got Dany's seeds in the mail today. They arrived in excellent shape! He added a packet of Wedding Bells seeds in everyone's packet, too! Thanks, Dany!

Tony is the only one who I haven't received seeds from. I dmailed him last week on the 17th to remind him and have not heard anything. The deadline is November 30th. So we'll see if he pops online to figure out I haven't received his seeds for the swap. If you know Tony and know his email or another way to contact him, please let him know that we need his seeds ASAP! If we don't hear from Tony by November 30th, then I will be sending the seeds out to everyone on Dec. 1st, except Elsa and Dany's bubble envie. I need to find out how much it is going to cost to mail them, to let them both know so they can cover the cost by paypal. After I receive their mailing cost payment, I will mail theirs out the following day. They will all be packed up and ready to go! November 30th is next Tuesday.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Day! Enjoy and be safe!

Oh my god! Why do you put up with this kind of stupid legislation? Legislation designed in favor of business not the people, I thought the USA was the ultimate democracy, would the average American support this bill? I very much doubt it! So the US is a dictatorship, no? Surly freedom is the principal of the US constitution! I could go on the US should practice what it preaches! Grrrr

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

People don't pay attention to what our leaders are doing and the laws they are passing. And I think they sneaked this bill right past us. I learned about it from Dany who is in Hungary! Go figure!!! It is another step closer to dictatorship from my point of view.

Wedding Bells that I send as bonus for everyone is NIL Wedding Bells,
This cultivar is very easy, very floriferous that produces a lot of seed : therefore accepts to grow in short summers areas .

This article will tell you how to contact your Congress and let them know how you feel:

http://www.naturalnews.com/030440_Food_Safety_Modernization_Act_Senate.html

My neighbor and I grow a small amount of tomatoes and cucumber in the summer.

*** UPDATE *** The bill has passed committee and is going to the Senate floor.

You can go to congress.org and on the top right side, put in your zip code and it will bring up your senators and there is a contact tab on how you can call and contact your Senators. Or call the Capitol Switchboard and ask to be directly connected to your Senator's office: 202-224-3121.
Both Georgia Senators oppposes the bill, but those in other states need to check the link above to see how your Senators voted and let him/her knows.

Sorry, I did not mean to hijack your thread.

Received a dmail from Tony today. His seeds were mailed out today and I should be receiving them very soon! As soon as I get them, everyone's seeds packets will be shared with each person and mailed out probably sometime next week by Delivery Confirmation. I'll have to take Elsa's ad Dany's envies to the Post Office when I mailed everyone else's to have them weighed to see how much they are going to cost to send. I'll let them know right away so they can send me payment via paypal. I know everyone is looking forward to seeing all the seed packets!

Happy Thanksgiving to y'all!

Becky, my seeds came today, too. Remember that old phrase, "a pocket-full of stars"? That's what they looked like, to me, in their envie - I thank you all so much.

(And Dany - special thanks to you, too, for your gift, as well as to Gardener2005 and Emma for theirs)

Mine arrived and thanks for everything and everyone here. I appreciate the generosity of Dany, Emma and Gardener 2005 as well. You are all very special to me.

Becky, got my seeds tonight when I went to the mailbox. it's like an early xmas. can not wait to grow some of them out. I wonder if I should try to grow some indoors. Hate to 'waste' them if they don't make it...

You guys are the best gardening group ever. I have enjoyed this so much!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

My seeds arrived too! A great big thanks to everyone involved, it's always a pleasure!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I was very surprised to see that many of you already received your seeds on Monday since they were just mailed out on Saturday. First time I've seen the Postal Service beat my estimation for delivery! There was 156 seeds shared by participants (which also included seed donations from Emma and Karen (gardener2005)). I hope everyone will be able to grow at least 1 seed from each participant this Spring/Summer. That would be 10 + 2 more seeds (one each from Emma and Karen) for a total of 12 vines minimum to grow.

I doubt I will be growing out all 156 seeds in one year. LOL! All these seeds should give each of us many I. nil vines to grow out for years to come!

I hope that Tony, Dany, and Elsa receive their seeds without delay! Please let us know when you get yours, too! :-)

Other news ...

The Food Safety and Modernization Act (SB 510) bill passed the Senate floor by a 73-25 margin. Here is something I read in the online news:

Quoted from THE LOOKOUT:
"Selling and sharing from your small garden: Opponents have also suggested that the bill would basically outlaw the sale and distribution of fruits and vegetables grown in backyard gardens. This is not the case. As SB 510 is currently worded, small growers who sell their goods at food co-ops, farmer's markets, roadside stands, etc., wouldn't have to register with the FDA -- though they would still have to comply with whatever state and local food laws are in effect in their area."
