2010 GARDEN PHOTOS #33
nice karen
Karen what a great place. Love all the stone work. The arch, fountains, stairs and mill stone pathway. Beautiful pics of flowers. The salvia, rose, mums and other perennials and annuals are wonderful for this time of year. A couple things I have never heard of too, always fun to see. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with Pat...loved the salvias & the rock gardens....what a gorgeous place!
Thanks, everyone. It really is a wonderful place to visit. I want to go there in the spring when the daffs are at their peak.

Pretty blooms still down there Allison. My strawflowers are kaput as is just about everything except the mums since the heavy frost we had before the rain. Your mums look better even taking a dive over the wall. LOL. Rain of the last couple days has brought down lots of oak leaves onto the garden and grass. Counting down to spring now. Thanks for a little color and cheer on this gloomy day.
I think the mums look nice against the wall, Allison....my football mums bloomed late & were not as large as I thought they would be.....
I'm going to have to plant some of those, bought some from the grocery and they made a gorgeous bouquet
can't wait to see if they return or not
Can anyone ID this crabapple? It's on the grounds where I work and I go on a hunt every fall to try to find out its name. It has hot pink flowers in spring, stunning yellow/orange foliage in fall, and then long after the leaves drop, it is loaded with fruit. In the fall the fruit is a marvelous blend of bright orange, yellow and brick red. As winter approaches, the fruit turns deep red (just in time for Christmas :). It is such a perfect four-season tree - I MUST have it but I have never been able to ID it. One other note - its pretty compact - about 8 feet tall and 7-8 feet wide - not nearly as wide as most crabapples.
Maybe ' Indian Magic' or 'JFS-KW5' ?
Here's a page that may help, scroll down about 3/4 of the way for a list with the characteristics of the different varieties.

Thanks Celeste. 'Indian Magic' does look promising...
That's a gorgeous crabapple.
