2010 GARDEN PHOTOS #33

i always cut down the ballons before they turn - will have to remember to wait a bit

OCD, Bil!!!!!

Pat, wonderful pics. Yes, the balloon flower foliage color is wonderful. I love the colors of all the hostas, too, and other plants that turn yellow rather than brown. Your DH did a magnificent job on the wood pile. Looks perfect.

Jen and Marilyn, nice shots of the trollius and dianthus.

That honeysuckle is a beauty!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I really have enjoyed that honeysuckle and the hummers did too. Best part is it was sent in error for a different type that I ordered. Some times the best things that happen in a garden are by mistake. I love that.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i have my first honeysuckle in a pot in the backyard to over winter - hope it looks as good as yours next year pat.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Good luck with yours Bill. They grow fast and as far as I can tell are trouble free. I have three now. 'Gold Flame', 'John Clayton' and the new one this fall serotina Florida. I only have three arbors so that probably will be all for the honeysuckles at least for now. What one do you have in waiting?

major wheeler honeysuckle

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Looked him up, a nice red honeysuckle Bill. The hummers will love you. Maybe a trellis at the end of the new alley garden would hold a red one, what ya think? LOL it is only Oct still and the ordering fever is getting to me already, oh dear me.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

was considering letting it grow on one of the walls - or getting another trellis

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I like the wall idea or a trellis is good too. I am sure yours will look beautiful wherever you decide to put it Bill.

Thomaston, CT

My art teacher has one growing up the staircase to her deck...very nice....you can get nose-to-bill with the hummers.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

mine only gets to 6' so a small trellis could do the trick

I have a DL budded.Hope I get to see it before it croaks.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Pretty DL jen. Mine need to be divided, I do not get much re-bloom on them any more.
Hope you get it to open before it gets zapped JoAnn.

We just had about 10 mins. of snow pellets.
I use this summers extreemly early spring and hot! hot! summer for the reason so many out of season plants are going a second round.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Thought I had taken the last photos of the garden, but the last few days of warm temps have brought out a couple minor miracles amid the spotty foliage and perennial plants already wearing their winter disguises. Both put a big fat smile on my face.

and a little better shot of the early morning sun coming through the trees. It has long since been replaced by dark overcast skies here.

Nice, Pat, Marilyn and Jen!

Pat, I really like the photo of the early sun through the trees. I took the liberty of saving it to my computer and putting an edge-preserving smooth on it and cropping it to see how it looks. I like it. Here it is.

Robin, Bill and JoAnn some nice garden pics there. Roses clems and echies seem to be the last hold outs here too although they are in short supply. Hope a little color still remains after the chill overnight. The foliage on the JMs at least should hold on for a while for you JoAnn.
Karen that is a pretty effect. Almost looks like a painting ,thanks for showing me.

Thanks Pat the JM's just started to orange - up.

Nice blooms everyone, what a different a zone makes!!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Cute little wren house Robin. I bet they are happy to have it to move into every spring.
The return to chilly temps has made both of the 'Endless Summer' hydrangea go deeper purple.

Here is the other one. It is in a touch more shade during the day.

You're welcome, Pat. I like that effect on photos. It does make it look like a painting.

Nice stuff there, Bill, JoAnne, Pat and Marilyn. Love the color on the hydrangea, Pat.
