Coffee Break # 46 - Noreaster Edition!
New rep in my district.
The paper ballot voting was a horror in my opinion. Anyone with any kind of tremors could not possibly fill in the circles we had. I had to get my husband to fill it in for me. When I returned the first ballot to get a new one (since I had gone outside the circle trying to fill it in) the person taking the ballot looked it over - so much for any privacy.
I think the thing that shocks me the most is why anyone would even want many of the positions we were all voting on this time around. With so many states in such serious financial trouble, and so much corruption, it seems they must be mentally unstable to believe they could change everything for the good.
Congrats Pixie on the grandbabyboy! It's amazing that your son is turning out so well Victor after living in a treehouse (tee hee). FlowAjen WOWSER you have birthed a genius!!! I am glad the elections are over as methought some of the ads were pretty brutal :(
I'm with you, Dahlia! Not only were they mean ads, but in many cases, the distortions amounted to dishonest, in my opinion. I didn't vote for anyone whose ads were so clearly inappropriate. I agree also with Pirl that it is a head-scratcher to figure out why anyone would think they can really do what they intend to do in this climate. But, I guess it's a dirty job that someone has to pretend to do while eventually collecting a lifetime full pension. lol
Yes - I think it's a combination of ego trip and desire for the perks. The personal attacks were horrible, though nothing new. Just a lot of them. Usually, the lower one is in the polls, the more likely they are to resort to personal attacks.
So happy just to be done with the calls and junk mail.
Just be glad you don't live in CT....I think we have a governor, but not sure! Memory's fair city ran out of ballots....the registrar only ordered 1/3 of the voting populace ballots.....then someone got a judge to let the Bridgeport polls stay open 2 hours longer. They also ran out of ballots in Hartford, but the polls closed the regular time....what a mess! As far as privacy goes, some man hit me with his cane as he was walking behind me, instead of in front, guess I was blocking my ballot, & he needed a better look!
LOL Robin!
Funny, Marilyn!
Some guy in my neighborhood put his Christmas decorations out on Monday. Gimme a break!
Area decorating person has a lot of Halloween to take down, maybe just changes the bulbs for christmas. Decorations are sort of ugly not great like the NJ ones.
Home Depot here has had their display up for 3 weeks already.
If decorating takes time you need things. I have to kick DH to get our one string of lights up. He should do it when weather not in the teens. After all you don't have to turn them on to the middle of Advent.
We went to Wal-Mart to get something, and the garden center has their x-mas stuff up and already playing x-mas music. Eck! It's way to soon.
Last week I was getting Emails from stores offering Christmas merchandise. That's pushing it way too much.
I also got a call from Bill Clinton last week. What an odd feeling even if it was a recording!
I almost ran into Bill Clinton coming out of a bookstore at an airport.
Hillary really should keep an eye on that guy...
heehee
It was such an odd feeling and I couldn't help but wonder if he was looking for Monica.
Stores always start early. This is a house!
I was thinking we should put our lights up while it is still mild weather, but not turning them on til after Thanksgiving too.
For the stores Christmas is less than 2 months away, but for someone to be doing their house already.....CRAZY....unless...their relative is being deployed overseas and they won't be around to see the decorations...that is the only explanation I will take for doing it this early
oh I bet that guy in Rockaway started putting his stuff out in August... bet it takes that long to get everything he has out
Everyone has started to put out x-mas decorations early, so X-Mas will last longer this year, make sure not to be the last one! Yippee!! ☺
flowAjen,
Thanks for opening up my eyes, I never considered the possibility that Christmas (or any seasonal) decorations could be influenced by foreign deployment.
Anything to make life happier for folks working in a highly stressful environment, especially overseas, is a good thing.
Selling decorations is ok, but not playing the music in the store. Playing at home is private & the person's business.
Same old music all the time, Johnny Mathis, Burl Ives, George Michael,...
that's why I added twisted sister to the show.. LOL
I LOVE Christmas!
Me too. Music is fine with me. They play 'regular' music in the stores all the time. Why not at Christmas??
The person here who is decorating early does it every year - no family in the service.
Just the thought of "The Little Drummer Boy" is annoying.
I don't know what Thanksgiving will bring yet, so cannot even bear to think of Christmas. My cousin takes all the family to the Mayflower Inn, which for me this year is a very good thing....
Annual pilgrimage???
The Mayflower is an annual thing, but impersonal....too difficult to have a celebration here without Doug.
Gotta love it!
OMG...how dumb! Had a woman here, got out of her car to ask directions to I-84, which was in front of her...she asked the cops, & they noticed pretty quickly she was drunk & drugged......manages a local nursing home....wouldn't you like a family member in that one?
lovely
It's getting Christmasy here too cept one of the office towers downtown put out horses instead of reindeers with Santa's sleigh (snort). My tru luv will probably wait for the coldest day to put out the Christmas Fairy and the Three Bears. I luv Bing's carols so I listen to them all year long. Pirl I like "Little Drummer Boy' cuz when someone says "Merry Christmas" I say 'Rum pum pum pum to you too" ^_^
