You mean Celeste is pregnant too?!!! Brian!!!!
Coffee Break # 46 - Noreaster Edition!
Now THATS a nightmare!!!!
Oh Dear, No!!!! due for a good year! Silly Victor!
The girls and Hank and I are going into space on Wednesday! Really!! One of our friends here is a close friend of one of the astronauts going into space on the last voyage of one of the Discover ships. She took our photo this morning and sent it to him to take us into space with him. Cool, huh? She is leaving tonight for a lift-off party. I think anyone can upload a photo too if you go to the NASA site. The girls would like to be astronauts for Halloween, so this will have to do. :)
OMGoodness Louise, thats a chance of a lifetime! How wonderful for all of you!!!!!!
Isn't it cool, Celeste? You can do it too.....her friend will be carrying our photo on his iphone, but I saw that they were wanting to take the public with them on this last voyage, so check it out. Try googling photos for Discovery launch........I'll see if I can find a link to the article I read somewhere. It is a historic launch. I think it's sad that our space program is no longer as vital.
Here's the link to put your picture into space... https://faceinspace.nasa.gov/index.aspx. Pretty cool!

Way cool! I know Victor will want to go!
Yes, very cool! Thanks. My wife has wanted to send me for a long time.
cool Louise!!
Congrats Celeste!!
Louise that's such a neat idea, how fun!
Happy Halloween to all!
Happy to all as well.....did anyone else have trouble carving their pumpkins this year? Mine were very thick, & brittle....
DH carved pumpkins at the Audubon society sowe didn't have one. No trick or treaters arrived here. I admit that it was pretty cold.
I only had 3 teens....their bags were loaded....they must of been all over town.
Just back from the first teacher conference - for my sixth grader. Great report. One teacher had the best possible compliment - 'When I see him I think - now this is why I became a teacher!' How cool is that to hear?!!
Also voted - early and often as they say in Chicago. ^_^ New method this year - fill in the ovals on the paper ballot and put it in the machine to be scanned. Worked out easily, though it does take more time than the old levers.
When I first voted in WI they had the 'new fangled' voting machines. back to paper ever since for some reason. No hanging chads however. Will vote after lunch as I have a DR. appointment this morning. He knows about pollen from gardening, but this cold is different. I am tired of coughing etc.
Wow, Victor...what a great comment for a 6th grade boy to receive....takes after Mrs. Victor I presume? Yes, we've been voting with paper ballots here for a few years....no privacy....everyone just walks right past your little screen, & everyone in town knows everyone else, so they pretty much know how you voted. Not that I care.....this has been not an election, but a smear campaign!
Privacy here. You fill out the ballot behind a little screened podium. Then you put the ballot in a folder and bring it to the scanner and YOU put it in the scanner. No one sees it.
Our town is a little primitive!
Great compliment for your son.
They received report cards on Friday my son has 98 average.
Congrats, Jen!
Had my other conference. The third - grader is doing very well - especially reading. Having a bit of trouble with some aspects of math - the more abstract stuff. He is reading at an advanced 5th grade level. She showed me a story he read and interpreted. The only word he didn't understand was 'redemptioner'. Dang - I don't even know that one! ^_^
LOL
My son is great at math, he doesn't get that from me!
nice!
And he came from way behind to make it a race.
congrats little Victor and Jens!
My son used to be shy in school, and in second grade he got in trouble in the lunch room. When it first happened, the lunch lady told his teacher, and the teacher said, no, you must have the wrong kid The next time, the lunch lady was sure it was David, so the teacher had to accept it and call me. We were both actually a little happy about it because he was becoming less shy. He turned out all right though. Sometimes I miss those days.
Funny, Victor!
Glad Arnold put a stop to that.
Love the comment
"I wonder if the Psychics saw this coming ....." ROTFL!!!!
There was this woman at my polling station and she wanted to vote but wasn't in the book, so obviously either not registered or in the wrong polling station, overheard her conversation she doesn't know if she's still registered because she moved but moved back in 1996...ummmmm there have been quite a few elections since then did you not vote in any other ones???, then hear her tell the guy where she lives...all the way on the other side of town...ummmm there's probably 20 other pollng places between here and there and why in the world would you come all the way out here??? Oh gosh and we let these people vote???!!!!
Glad to hear the boys are doing so well in school...don't worry about his math progress, Victor. My worst subject in school, but when I got to college, it suddenly made sense! Our minds mature at different rates in different places. My math section was way slow.
Wow, Victor and Jen! Congrats!! Great reports on your kids.....sure you must feel so good to know they are doing so well. I also wouldn't worry about the math stuff. I can sympathize. My Mom was a math teacher and my sister was a math whiz.......me, not so much! But I did well in all the other subjects, so it didn't hurt me. As it turns out, my son was/is a math whiz too, so I turn to him when I need something math related, which is not ever, actually. LOL
Thanks, all!
Funny, Jen. Scary that these people vote. I always said that I thought some minimum grasp of the issues, or even reality, should be a prerequisite. Of course, all heck would break loose if someone proposed that!
I heard some people talking about they liked the sound of someones name, I really hope they were joking...
I think some people have no idea who or what they are voting for, but not voting is even worse, in my opinion. What do you guys think of voting officials not allowing you to put your ballot in the machine yourself. One of our friends in NH told us today that he objected to having to give it to someone to run through the machine. That sounds un-American to me. It seems to go against the whole privacy principle....not even sure it is legal in light of the potential intimidation factor. Did anyone else run into that? Here the privacy was greatly respected. You slide your ballot into the slot page by page, and there is an official handy if you have any problem.
We put it in ourselves.
so do we. They have someone there to help if you have trouble putting it in.
We have machines not paper ballots.
I think if there isn't a candidate you like you should choose "none of the above" and not do eenie meenie.
Just made it with DW to the voting school, walked in at 8:57 with 3 min to spare, (thanks to LIRR). Same deal as Victor with the white rolling podium and the sleeve & putting it in the machine.., - I don't like this filling out the dots thing, rather do the lever booth. Instead of going forwards we're going backwards, soon we'll be in a town hall raising our hands like in the 1800's! lol!!
I didn't like any of the candidates, but I made a nice design with the dots.. tried to do a butterfly. (lol!)
Did not vote for our representative to congress. I have never liked the one who is there. His opponent is a jerk. so if you have 2 blanks leave it blank.
