Is thats whats on us or coming. Should watch the weather - huh?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

NYC will require dual-flush toilets - one handle (less water) for #1 and one for #2. I think that's a good idea. Maybe a third handle for alligators and snakes??

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Next they'll put a policeman to make sure you flush the right one or else you'll get a ticket.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

#3 for Randy

;)

GMA and I know what I heard! A woman from the Mayo Clinic said that to relive pain you can use Chili Peppers. She said dont use the seeds but rub the pepper on and it will give heat to sooth.

Number one - dont use hot peppers on your skin as it can burn, sensitive people can suffer.
Nuber two - She dont have a clue about what she was talking about - The placental tissue, to which the seeds are attached, contain the most heat.

I lost some respect for that Dr. or what ever she was!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

She was a plumber.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Opps! posted the weather here, (the main pic threw me off, lol!!)

we are having a norwester today. Very pearly and might be snowfull. Now why is it that I have 13 different mittens that don't match just when I need to be mittenclad sigh.

South Hamilton, MA

Non matching mittens can set a style--welcome to being trendy.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Wouldn't be the first time irisMA ^_^

Ok what do I do??? I was driving my friend home last night and there was a skunk(live) in the other lane...she asks what was that? I go "skunk" she's like "oh and I think it just sprayed us"...sure enough my car must have startled it because the smell was just intolerable and I have a head cold so it must have been really bad. I didn't put my car in the garage when I got home for fear it would stink up the whole house. I haven't been outside yet to see if it still smells.... What do I do if it does???

What ever you do dont put a wax job on at the car wash.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can't bring it thru the car wash anyway it's a convertible

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

If its still there after you use soap and water, use "Skunk Remover" in the pet section at Wallmart or Target (says the person who lives with Peppy and Peppermint the Skunks). Googleguy says it works on the interior too but crossing fingers and toes that it's not that bad.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks D-nut!!!!

South Hamilton, MA

Never heard of 'skunk remover'. It sound a lot better & cheaper than tomato juice.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well must not have actually gotten any spray on the car because it didn't stink...whew! that was a relief.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

WHEW is right flowAjen! irisMA I hadn't heard of it either til I had to plan for a worse case scenerio with the crazy ole cat and my true luv mucking about with the skunks.

This news blurb makes no sense

WOMAN JUMPS OFF BRIDGE AFTER ACCIDENT
An unidentified woman jumped off the Passyunk Avenue Bridge, in Southwest Philadelphia, killing herself, shortly before 6 p.m. yesterday, police said. The woman got out of her car after a minor automobile accident occurred on the bridge, walked to the edge and jumped, police said. They didn't know if she had been involved in the accident.

If she got out of her car after a minor accident how could they not know she was involved in it???????

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

She might have been behind it but not in it. In any case pretty sad that she jumped.

East Bridgewater, MA

The woman that jumped off the bridge: she was already close to the "breaking point" psychologically, the (minor) event was just a trigger mechanism for an already-existing problem. I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing her clinical depression was already full-blown.

Comment on "Skunk City": I was emotionally devastated when I had to leave my (late) beloved dog out on the enclosed porch one mild June night at 10pm after he was sprayed by a skunk. If I had let him into the house, it would still smell of "eau de skunk." He got a tomato juice bath the next morning!

He was on his dog bed, whimpering to come in for the night, and I was at the kitchen table, also whimpering because I couldn't give him access.

edit: I think "Mythbusters" on TV did a test of the tomato juice/skunk "perfume" subject.

There's a kids show on PBS called Fetch with Ruff Ruffman and they do all kinds of experiments on it, they did the skunk one and the only thing that got rid of the scent 100% was hydrogen peroxide.

East Bridgewater, MA

That's very useful info, I'll have to remember that; I don't have a dog, currently.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow Jen never heard that before... good to know

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Now this is going to far if you ask me!! What happened to our privacy rights??????

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101016/ap_on_re_us/us_gps_tracking_warrants

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Nothing new there, we used to use those 10yrs ago on the Mex border, but usually with the car owner's consent.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Usually. (lol)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

But shouldn't you have probable cause? I'd like to know what their is ..... it sounding racially motivated.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Liberalism doesn't go over too well in conservative circles...
- They can fight over that stuff in court, but the border is a harsh, rough place.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- I did'nt agree with a lot of things that were done there, but you learn it's best to look the other way sometimes. Customs, Immigration and just about every Gov't agency in law enforcement is in the mix at one point or another. Now, after 9/11, things are even tougher, and it's not just the border.

- Luckily I'm out of that business now. ☺

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

They should have used a small tracking device then they wouldn't have found it.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

He wasn't a 'hot target' or else they would have.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

More news about FB leaking privacy info to advertisers. And so many people live their lives on FB.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Looks like they're going to have to stop living on FB or else not count on privacy anymore.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They're fools if they trusted them to this point. They have a horrible history.

Back from the surgeon - the knee will be scoped in January. He does not want to do the kneecap replacement because I am young. Good to hear, since it's way more involved, but I hope this works. He will clean out the knee and do a 'lateral release', which should equalize the stress better and allow the kneecap to go back to a more neutral position toward the center. The release makes the rehab a bit longer and will make driving difficult for a longer period - two to three weeks. That is why I have put it off until after the holidays.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

good luck!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Clean out the knee?! Ugh, that hurts just thinking about it!
- Hope everything goes well for you!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I believe that is what they were going to do to Brian but thought better of it as his foot is the main problem..once that is set they can concentrate on the knee.
Good luck Victor, glad it will be after the holiday's!
