And a titmouse that hasn't quite finished its molt.
Daily Bird Photos VOL 349
LOVE those bluebird pics Dave.
Duc and Burd, your flickers seem to be enjoying the same kind of berry. What berry is that?
GP, I had an Indigo Bunting last week. They don't stay around here though. I only saw him one time. You're lucky to get them all winter.
I thought I had finally fixed the leak in the pond, but went out this morning and it was totally empty. I'm so bummed. I'm refilling it and there is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, a Nashville Warbler and a Rose-breasted Grosbeak all trying bathe right now. Oh and a Brown Thrasher just landed. Too shady to take pics though.
Here's the new bird from yesterday that wasn't a new bird after all, but a favorite that I rarely see, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak. He's pictured with my ceramic sea turtle b/c my tiny pond is so like the sea -- not!
Hack, Love the Brown-headed Nuthatch!
GP, Good to see you have an Indigo now.
Burn, Love seeing the Purple Finch!
Burd, wonderful shots! the Tennessee Warbler is gorgeous!
Nanny, Nice one of the Song Sparrow!
Dave, The Bluebirds and others look great!
Elphaba, Sweet one of the Grosbeak! Hope your pond gets fixed soon.
GP, great birds, especially the falcon.
Burn pretty junco, finch and grackle. Beautiful jay shot.
Burd, I love that Rusty Blackbird! Is that gold eye just on the males as they are with our Brewer's? Wonderful warbler shot and congrats on the new wren-it's a pretty one too. Love the downy and that Cape May is gorgeous.
Nanny, your little sparrow sure is cute. I can't wait to see more than two species here, but don't think I'll catch up to you.
Dave, love that first bb photo-I can see the tongue! The sprinkle shots of the bb and titmouse are fabulous. How you ever got that jay coming into the morning glories is beyond me-they're fast!
Elphaba-my flicker was eating berries from a Virginia Creeper vine. I love them because the leaves change to a pretty red in late fall here. Cute grosbeak, glad you told us that was a ceramic turtle-I thought it might be a ceramic snail. Sure hope you can repair that leak in the pond.
Here's an American Goldfinch enjoying some seeds.
Nice shots everyone!! Duc, both male and female Rusty's have the gold eye...those pics are of females, I have a shot or 2 of a male and will try to post them tonight.
Great pics duc! Those are some sweet little birds!
I thought this was cute. 16 Ways to tell a Sharp-shinned Hawk from a Coopers. You can click on the yellow box to see the different ways after reading the paragraphs.

Great shots everyone! I haven't been taking many pics. My yard seems to be empty of birds even though I have a good spread set for them. The bluebirds visited the house this week, they haven't been around since their second brood fledged in mid-summer. They were checking out the digs, though.
Went for a walk in a local nature park yesterday and observed some interesting Northern Flicker behavior. There were 3 flickers in a tree doing a lot of vocalizing. Two were sparring bills and talking to each other. Resembled some kind of mating ritual, except wrong time of year.
Gosh Burd...up a little early ????
Actually those shots were taken near sundown on Saturday. :)
Pelle, thanks for the link on the hawks.
Nanny, your "peeking" cardinal is so sweet. Your escapees are cute. Great job on the heron.
Burd, thanks for the photos of the Rusty male. He's beautiful. I have the Red-winged Blackbirds here at my feeder now, but haven't been able to catch them with the red showing.
Red, good to see you here. Hope you'll be seeing more birds now that they know you're back home.
Elphaba, great variety of birds!
I had three new birds visit yesterday. This Hermit Thrush was enjoying the berries on the vines and then jumping up on the top of our fence.
oooo....nice duc!!
