Pretty Irises, Hibi's and beautiful arrangements. Why don't I ever think of cutting flowers?

Happy Fall Y'all and a Harvest Moon to boot. Still feels like Summer though with temps in the low 90s.

Look forward to seeing you Saturday, Faye :)

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

That MG is a wowzer! Look at this itty bitty one that's the size of a Nickel. I guess it's a MG? Just a volunteer under the birdfeeder.

Garden Phlox, Gaillardia, Hostas, Speedwell, Sunflowers, MGs, Cannas, Coreopsis, Cosmos, Zinnias, Centaureas and Agastaches are among those I can think of that are still blooming. Poor coreopsis plants are laying over but I'm waiting for seedheads and will miss them and everything else when it's time for Fall clean-up.

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

We had high winds again last night, it is doing a number on my blooms, ee's, and bananas. All the brugs were in full swing and we have had 3 strong hard thunderstorms..... ;C.

Do I have to dig glads? I thought I did. I know you are zone 6 Debra, anyone in zone 5? This was the first year for me doing glads, I think they were pretty but I thought I would have more blooms and they would last longer, but I guess part of it could of been the too hot temps, and lack of rain at that time. The colors were really pretty.

My dahlias are going strong finally. Hopefully they don't all get knocked down. Love the dahlia blooms. Only have one reblooming iris going a blue color. Will have to take pics and post later.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I Leave my glads right into the ground in large POT's Only because if i want to share them I can easily dig them out . But I have many that are just down in the ground . under a Peach tree :)

they been there about 3-4 yrs & I'm in z5 . I plant them about 1/4 up from the bottom of the pot then BURY The pot as deep as the pot even cover the top & what I Use to know where they are i have a bamboo stick stuck in the pot .

few of my MUMS In Bloom It started to rain so that is why they look red when they are really Bright Orange & Bronze color

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

Happ we always lifted glads in PA when I was a kid. I think they are close to the same zone. If you leave them in the ground for some reason they seem to diminish in size over time. Just my opinion.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

My glads wintered over on the north fence and came back strong. I do mulch very heavily with about two to three feet of leaves from all the trees around here. In Fact, I blanket all the beds and all around the house beds every fall, we just rake to the flower beds. It seems to help, I have geraniums and B&B salvia that come back, as well as border dahlias. Some of my border dahlias are four years old now. I am saving seed pods for all of you, my friends. Susie, your mgs when you were 5 that your grandfather grew were heavenly blues and prolly Clarkes heavently blues. I have some of those seeds you can have.
here is some purple chinese bean hiyacinth in the bean patch, and can u see the big white moon flower in the back ground by the back door?

FLOYD, VA(Zone 6a)

That's a cool vine Debra. We do the same thing here with the leaves. I have a lot of things that are supposed to be annual, but even after last winter the came back. Nice to know that all these bazillion leaves have a good use. :0)

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

I Have to Barrow Leaves from my Neighbor He has all the leaves A few will blow over this way .

We're finally getting a wonderful slow rain that started overnight and is supposed to continue several more hours. They're predicting about 4" which would bring us back up to norm for the month. And it's chilly.....had to put on my fuzzy socks :)

Here's a few Mums in bloom today.

This one's FIONA.

Send that rain kind of northeast will you please? :0) I'm cold too and so is Pely. She is snugged up with her Daddy right now.

(susie) Hastings, MI(Zone 5a)

Love stacy & Priscilla they would fit right in around here with my guys & girls
I need to find the time to go take pictures :) of them .
yours are very pretty .

I'm waiting for my friend down at the Horrocks Nurseries to call me for their fall discount sale they go down to
A $1. each & I But them up :)))

But I & Another Dg member are trying to put a mum co-op together for spring will keep you all up-dated as to what might happen with that :) .

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I'll see if I can root some cuttings for you, Susie. Anybody else interested? Let me know and I'll try.

The Coleus I promised are not doing well. In fact they're pretty pitiful and think it's iffy if they're even going to make it. So why don't those of you who were sending cuttings just don't worry about including me. One of these days I'm determined to have a grow light system and a greenhouse I can play in til my heart's content.

Here's a cluster of the big blue MG's this morning. Some of the pods on different ones are beginning to turn brown. Guess that means it won't be too much longer before they're ready to harvest?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Beautiful blooms everyone!
I did not know you could take cuttings from the Mums! Nice to know.

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

If you'd like any of mine, LK, you're welcome to them. Just say the word.

We sent you some rain, Neener, but it would have been better if I could have delivered it in person...lol Our showers are still going strong and the temp has dropped to 56.....it's refreshing having the windows open and think we've turned the A/C off for the last time this year.

My next challenge before we drop in the 40's is going to be finding homes inside for the houseplants that have been so happy on the back porch and seem to have multipled like rabbits lately, thanks to so many of you who shared yours and continue to feed my latest habit.....LOL

I'll take cuttings of the new Mums I have for you too, Susie. Gotta go out when it quits raining tomorrow, or we get a break, and see if they have name tags. Y'all know how neurotic I am about names and you still manage to put up with me :) I'm seriously thinking about dedicating my side garden, where the Mums are, into one that really puts on a Fall show. That should be an easy task to accomplish since I have plenty of room and the few perennials growing there could easily be moved.

It's crazy but I have a Centaurea new this year that's blooming!
