I don't know if Ruby-throated Hummers are "smart" or not, but this girl did had the good sense to get out of the rain. She's sitting on a coat hanger I hung from the ceiling of my porch.

Duc, I have no idea what that plant is. It grows wild all along the road here mixed in the brush.
Gp nice thrasher! I saw one the other day but it saw me too...so no pic!
LOL @ your cardinal Hack!! And very smart hummer!
Hey, missy, I'm wondering - could that be a male R-t hummer?. Around here their red necks/chins are so dark that they often appear to be black - but when the sun hits them just right, its a real pretty red.

Nice shots everyone!! Most of my shots have been coming from (out in the field)...now that hummers are gone I have the feed station set-up for fall/winter for my birds in the backyard. Nice to report I am getting returning birds from last fall/winter. First up is Brown Creeper had 2 all last winter. Lots of clouds today and the sun broke through at times...kept the ISO at 1600 for most the time.
Had a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker flying through the feed area several times (he was doing recon) lol....hope he sticks around, also had a Red-eyed Vireo...who was trying to get a drink from the birdbath...I missed a great shot.
Waiting for the Junco's and Red-breasted Nuthatches to show up...Elvis where are you?
Nice pics everyone!
Time to move on to volume 347, link to follow . . . here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1131329/
