Went to an autumn festival the other day where there were Raptor rehabbers and Falconers.

Here is a picture of a juvenile Red-tailed Hawk. This one is being trained for Falconry. Beautiful bird.

Congratulations on the Tanager nanny!!

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

Mrs_Ed, that hawk was a good start for the new thread. AND your male Downy was super nice.

nanny, congrats of the A female Scarlet Tanager. Every time I find a new bird, I remember day to my boyhood days, collecting baseball cards and the thrill I got to get a new player.

Columbus, GA(Zone 8a)

I was out with the Canon100mm macro prime trying to get a shot of a butterfly when I saw a Mockingbird and a male House Finch at the feeder, a long ways away.

So I snapped a pic, figuring later at the computer I'd crop it.

Here the original

Here's the cropped version. The 100mm did okay. Even with a 1/500 shutter speed

Congrats nanny on your Scarlet Tanager!
Hack that 100mm did a heck of a job...Nice shot!

Wonderful photos! What did we ever do before we got this forum?

Congrats nanny! I got a lifer today too, and it's been suggested that it might be a northernmost record for the county. The Oak Titmouse is seldom seen outside of California. duc must have sent a few up to visit me!

Sweet! Congratulations Tiger!

PERTH, Australia

Beautiful hawk, Mrs Ed.

Tiger, the Titmouse is heartmeltingly pretty.

Beautiful skimmer shots, Al.

Lovely, Burd. First time I've seen a Golden-crowned Kinglet. That Jay is really giving you the eye.

That is a good crop, Hack.

Nanny, congratulations on your new bird.

There was a Sacred Kingfisher sitting on one of the lower nest branches whilst I was watching the Ospreys this afternoon. It stayed there a while until a Rainbow Lorikeet bullied it off.

Shortly after the Kingfisher vacated the spot, a Singing Honeyeater took its place. A popular place, it seems

I grabbed a few shots of a Laughing Turtledoves doing an aerial swan dive.

A couple of days ago, a sight I've never seen before. A formation of Mountain Shelducks.

Nice Kinglet Burd!

Met...cool skimmers!

Magaret...all great shots!

GP...I love that last! lol

I really was going to go somewhere else yesterday and look for birds...but I changed my mind and I am sure glad I did! It is just so easy to walk here where I live. So no big desire to go looking I guess.

Another Flycatcher back on the 15th....

Mrs. Ed, thanks for starting this new thread and with such a beautiful hawk-wow. That wp is a great shot too.

Wonderful photos everyone!!
Nanny, congratulations on the new lifer. That's really exciting.
Hack, nice one of the mocker and finch!! Looks like that birdbath is in the perfect spot.
Burd, great shots of your birds too! Cute kinglet pics. They're supposed to be here year round, but so far I've just photographed a ruby-crowned. Love the jay!!
Met, the Skimmers are just beautiful.
Tigerlily, what a wonderful surprise to see the titmouse there. Congratulations, I have lots of them if you'd like more. You must have some oak, sycamores or pine trees that they love.
Margaret, I'm in love with all your birds!! Love all your photos, especially that turtledove-wow!
GP, now that's a bunch of grackles. You're still welcome to tell them to come to my house!! That mocker/wp photo is cute!
Nanny, I love it when others, like me, find so many birds right at their homes. Sure is a pretty robin. Great job on the warbler photo.

My little Brewer's Blackbird "Stubby" sure is a regular visitor to the back deck. The more I photograph him, the more I think his beak is more deformed than broken off both the top and bottom.

Another regular visitor is the House Finches.
