Morning Glories 2010 #20

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Yes, I didn't know it was P bush , but then I looked in the bottom of the pot.. it came from Jackie. I am glad Helena showed hers, I really wanted one last year while you all were showing them to us.( see, It is okay to want something, right?)
Becky did you see the henka you sent me? I thought I posted it last week.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Debra - Yes, I did. It's bloom was really pretty! :-)

I see so many of these beautiful blooms in a given day here, that by the time I look at each one, I've forgotten what the previous one was! I'm like a kid in a candy store that just keeps looking and wanting everything, but too overwhelmed to actually pick one! LOL!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Well, because the vnes are growing so close together on the patio, I am just going to call the i. nil batch The Patio Mix. LOL
the mauve splashes, blue ray, Orihime and the ones on the fence are all by themselves, as well as the purple star from Helena. I got one pod off of the I. Lind, one pod off the I. Plantesis, and alot of pods forming on the white with red specs.

I didnt realize there was so many different types of MG..Here in AR we have an overgrowth of MG vines and they get in the crops so I have never planted any, or spent any time looking t them but I see I have missed some beautiful blooms..

Helena, gorgeous blooms. I tried to grow my WBells in a pot and killed it without it ever blooming. :-(
huneybunch, I will try to gather sds from the feathered purpurea you like
and send you a few sds. This one did well on my fence in poor soil, didn't
bother it a bit. Love your pretty bloom from Debra's seeds.

honey I am glad they are doing some blooming for you. I love those too. you can get some little tiny organza bags at the dime store and put them over the pods for best ripening. I have been finding empty pods from the wind and heat here, so I am now using bags to save seeds.
Jackie I love that white Lav Saz.
Helena, Kai no Kasume is gorgeous, but i really like your baby blue ..

My sharp pod triloba? Little violet morning glory? Or.. could it be the I. sp Karrabilk from Austrailia that was sent to me?
the pink i purpls indicate the size of the blooms, look at the purple red leaves they have. The other leaves there are lobata and I. Lindehemier

Here is a seed pod from I. Plantesis.. I have two now. That is all for tonight, lots of things blooming, but would be repeating myself to show them. All of them are just going to town right now. First moon vine flower in Huge sunflower arch on north end of house is open, there are about 20 bud groups so far down there.

I sent everyone this seed.. these are volunteers on the north fence, I trim it at each end every weekend, I still have not done a topiary with it, I swear I am going to as soon as I find a "form" Messina Creeper, I cairica, and I am sure it has other nick names as well..

Beautiful blooms, Helena, Jackie, and Debra!

Debra - Looks like you got a cross from me. This one turned out quite pretty! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=8113055

The henka you posted doesn't look like mine. It should have either been solid blue or darker blue and purple stripes. I say that because I shared seeds with several folks and that is what they got from my seeds this year. Are you sure you aren't getting them mixed up with seeds that Emma sent you? Those look like her vines, not mine. Mine had very little white in them and were mostly blue. I don't see any blue in yours at all.

Here is a photo of mine from last year.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Becky, emma didn't send me any henka, and the tag says henka from becky G LOL some have been very blue, but I keep missing them.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Also, my camera doesn't pick up the really dark blue, it turns the blue to purple 9 times out of ten, sorry..

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Debra - LOL! Well maybe it was a cross (which is always possible) or I got the seeds mixed up with Sibori Swirl that grew last year! LOL! Here is a photo of Shibori Swirl from last year and it had a lot of white in the blooms.

Thumbnail by beckygardener
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

the leaves on Henka are not varigated. ( Mine) that is very pretty sibori Swirl. what ever it is, ( mine) I like it. The seed was in the special packet you sent to me at swap.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Debra - Then it is likely a cross. I am glad that you like it! It is very pretty, indeed! :-) I just didn't recognize it from any of mine last year! LOL!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, your no Kasume is a beautiful bloom, I just love it.

Lovely blooms Debra. Your Lilac Luster was sds I gathered from my
blooms. Orig sds from Emma. I wanted to grow one this yr but didn;t get it done.

Becky beautiful Shibori Swirl from last yr.

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

beckygardener, that is gorgeous!!! WOW!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Ditto everyone ... Becky, very nice higes there.. boy, those are not my favorites, at all, I call them Bridezilla's..lol..

I'll try to grow some this coming Spring though... hopefully I'll get a decent plant someday and change my mind about them.

Nice to see all the varieties of Henka around.

Jackie, nice blue up there, I've got several of Karen's seeds growing now too.

Dirtygirl, you will get addicted soon, if you are not already, they are beautiful flowers.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks A. Looking forward to your upcoming winter blooms.
I've started a few.
Huney, forgot to say I wait to gather any and all mg sds till they have turned a med brownish or tan. If you wait too long, they will crack open and
your sds will go everywhere. You can tell when they're ready, they shatter
when you lightly squeeze the pod.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks, everyone! I hope I get lots of seeds from those higes. Unfortunately, they are all growing in the same pot, so if I do get seeds, I won't know which cultivar they are. The blooms are tightly wound, so I hope they get pollinated.

Montrose, AR(Zone 8a)

Thanks all for the info..I have some of those lil bags I will place over them just in case.. Those are sure some lovely blooms..

Gautier, MS

Pretty blooms Debra, Jackie and Becky love that Sibori Swirl.

Where do you guys get those little bags? I've found a couple, but they are too big for the seedpods. I also made some mesh baggies of my own but I like these for the larger long pods on other vines.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky, just means you are in for a nice surprise with your hige seeds,
sounds like fun to me. :-)
A, Maybe the cotton flour sacks/kitchen towels 3 for 5.00 at the $ store would be a good deal. Just cut our your round shape and tear two strips in the top of the fabric to serve as your ties.
Would save some money. Huney and A, I don't have the patience to use the bags so
that's why I watch mine close. This time of the yr you can see the color of the pods darken daily.
Lovely blooms you're still getting Helena

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Love that Fujishibori, Helena. I found a whole string of seed pods that have turned yellow and brown on the south fence, it is the pink sunsmiles.
