I love the color on this, my last original sd of Sazanami Lite from 2008. I owe a big thanks to Karen, Gardener 2005 for sharing the orig sds to Saz lite and the wonderful
Saz sds she shared this yr.

Beautiful flower, nice blue color. Maybe you recognize this one. Not
the cardinal flower.

I have that one. Is yours blue or purple? I have it in both purple and pink. The purple shredded one I got from Summer Hill. It is Murasakihigezaki.

It's dark purple. I got it from Jackie. Don't remember name.

Looks like Indigo Feathers/Hige to me. But there are so many different varieties, I don't know for sure.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I wonder if Murasakihigezaki is just a rename of Indigo Feathers or is Indigo Feathers? They look the same to me.

It could go either way, but my guess is it came from Japan first! So it may be Murasakihigezaki. Many of the vines and blooms we see here on this forum originated in Japan. :-)

Linda, your beautiful feathered purple came from mixed hige sds

I have a question... I have the pink MG started in a 1 gallon pot...I have been told they don't like to be moved..(dug up and moved) ... so..if I were to cut the bottom of the pot off...slide the whole plant into a much larger pot with a trellis ((tell me what the smallest pot would work))..would this plant produce blooms ?? or do the roots need 'room to roam'???

Wow what a name Murasa.........The cypress vine is growing in the ground
on other side of deck. I got it from a mentally challenged man that always
comes over to pick my fennel for his black swallowtail butterfly's. His sister
gave him the plant to give me, since he's always picking my fennel. I was
surprised it grew so quickly and is now loaded with red flowers. I saw the
hummingbird on it today. Very pleased with it. The morning glory blends
well with it.

I have mine in small pots into larger pots and into the ground as well still in their starter pots, zinnia..
my sharp pod and hederacera are going crazy too.. I love them.
DIRTYGIRL: That hige is gorgeous..

I love the hummingbird vines. I tried to grow the yellow version of it (Canary Creeper) but I guess the sun was too hot for it and it burned so it never climbed up really well. Will try again next year, may be in partial shades.

However, I do have lots of seeds for Cypress Vines. It has the same flowers as the red Hummingbird Vines, may be a little smaller and the leaves are ferny. I will include it in the MG swap if Becky has another one this year. :)

Brandon, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm wanting to move my potted MG to a FULL SUN, no irrigation spot ((ONLY rain water or I tote it in my wheel barrel)).

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Dirtygirl - Nice sized vine! Those I. purpureas can grow quite large! It does need full sun to bloom. They are annuals, so will die down when the weather gets cold. But should put on a show for you this Fall!

Nicole - Yes! That cypress vine is a hummer magnet! And pretty, too! But ya got to keep it in check as they do tend to ramble all over! LOL! Collect your seeds. I do plan to do another seed swap.

Thank you Boopsie, I will try to save you some sds, hoping that vine is making plenty :-)
Gorgeous blooms Helena, Debra and Robbie.
I really enjoyed these blooms courtesy of Colin. The vine was well
behaved so I will grow more feathered next yr. The Milky Way has got to go.

I have plenty of the Ivy-Leaved Morning Glory seeds if anyone is interested in trading for a color I don't have. (which is only pink & blue) ~LOL~

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Helena, Robbie, and Jackie - Gorgeous bloom photos! Love that P. Bush, Helena ... reminds me of when I grew that vine a year or so ago. Love all of them!

Jackie - Funny that you should post a hige I. purpurea photo ... mine just started blooming today, too! I planted 3 seeds and got three different looking hige flowers. Not sure what cultivar they each are, but they sure are pretty! I see tons of buds on them, so should have a bloom flush very soon! :-)

Dirtygirl - Do you have the purple striped/flaked ones? I could share some seeds with you if you don't already have them. Just dmail me.

Here are some of my hige first blooms! All 3 vines are different!

Gorgeous blooms Becky. Your higes are beautiful.

McMinnville, TN

I have been watching all the morning glory vines at my daddys house and it seems like it take some colors longer to develope seeds. The dark purple ones have plenty, but I'm really anxious for the pink and the tiny light blue ones to produce some seeds.
I love all the pictures!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks, Jackie and Boopsie! I am enjoying all the bloom photos very much!♥

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

me too! I am so happy to see that picture of Pres Bush. Jackie mine is blooming too! Thank You!
DirtyGirl, do not worry, we will see that you get lots of other kinds of seeds!
Robbie, I am so glad you have such a great flower blooming. It is so cool.
Becky, love your higes and love that cross of Jackie's you grew out.
