I'm so sorry to hear that. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers!!

Ferndale, WA

Can't thank all of you enough for your loving comments and prayers. My wife stayed with him for three days in the hospital, she came home finally last night. We prayed together and then agreed it was time to exercise our trust in the Lord. She is doing well this morning and we talked with our son and he is very upbeat. In fact the doctor told him he would be released two days early as he was doing so well. The pathologist will be giving us an update on all his tests probably by wednesday. Thanks to all of you once again. Having family like you is unmatched...Hay

Haystack, one of Haystack's Daughters started laying Green eggs, and the other lays blue, and one still has not started.... I wrote this in another thread, but I wanted to make sure you saw that. Grey is my favorite, she is a good girl, I will get pictures of her tomorrow..... WHOO OHOOOO

Ferndale, WA

How much fun is it to have the blue, green, browns, and whites all in one carton. I know my customers used to just love it. It's been just to wet here for pic's but I am hoping the weather will break soon. I have some new seramas I have just added and I also have some new colors that have just popped up out of nowhere that I want to share with all of you... It has been my goal to get my breeding stock up to at least six roosters and five hens per rooster, for a total amount of thirty six birds just for breeding. I have finally reached that goal, come spring I will be purchasing a cabinet incubator and hope to be able to hatch at least a hundred eggs per month. I have three local pet stores that have agreed to purchase birds from me for one three month period in the spring to see how well they sell. It should be a fun trial period. I also took a pair of birds to my local feed store, they said they did not know what seramas were. It was so much fun, as they were all in shock. I thought at first they were kidding me. The one lady in her sixties told me she'd been in the business over forty year and had never seen one. It was so much fun watching the people just staring as I walked around introducing my favorite, Dot and Murph...Hay.

Haystack how wonderful! I hope your new venture goes well! Yes I am still amazed at the amount of people that never dreamed of owning pet Chickens let alone a tiny Sweetheart like our Seramas. People just cant resist one once introduced!

I only have three roos now and 3 hens and two tiny White Pullets coming along for spring! I cant wait for them to start laying again. I wish we were closer so I could buy some of your eggs!

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Well I never thouygh of chickens as possible pets until I started hanging out here. Yes, I have always wanted some but thought of them like farm animals, never pets before this. Needless to say my thinking has changed.

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Ahhhhh, we are a Forum of Enlightenment!!!!

(Zone 6b)

Well, you changed my life for the better. I adore my chickens and feel more empowered that if something happens to the food supply, I would still have eggs, and maybe chicken.

Richmond, TX

Our farm animals are all pets too: chickens, cows, pigs...I'm hopeless.

Denver, CO

Chickens can and do make the most amazing pets.

Hay, my hopes and prayers are with your family and your son. A good attitude is often key, and it sounds like he has one.

Ferndale, WA

Thank you so much Elle, he does have a good attitute, no pitty party here...LOL. Seriously I agree with you, a positive attitude is key in our health and environmental atmosphere. Thats one of the gifts I think we all take away from this forum. You guy's rock and surely lift my head...Hay

Hay you and Billys letters brought tears to my eyes

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Mr Haystack, hope all is well with you, Billy is home from his momma's he was suppose to stay all week while I was hunting, but something was not right when I spoke with him on Monday night, so yesterday I surprised him at school with the intent to take him to lunch only and he was so happy to see me. He asked me to take him back to the ranch, he "Did not want to be a city boy anymore, he was a country boy" who could argue? Later his mother called and said she was sick, so the decision has been make to forgo hunting till Saturday and keep him with me. Friday night he will go to his Uncle and Auntie's to go to a halloween party on Saturday. When he got home, he walked around and told everyone he was back. He went today to get our new horse Rosie and when he met her for the first time, she nuzzled his hand and he turned to me and said he loves her. He was such a gentleman to the people that came to drop her off, and they left with 3 doz eggs,Billy showed all his animals, and figured he would share some eggs. Wiped me out of eggs, but made him smile so small price to pay.
Pork I am trying to bring him up in the world to pay it forward it is just a small gesture but it is at least something. He had a blast last year (His First) and a tradition I hope he will carry on.
Donna, Billy loves Mr Haystack and loves to dictate notes to him on the computer. He puts his fingers on mine and taps, I think he thinks he is typing. He can spell Haystack, Nanny and Billy Bob...LOL I see fights for the computer when he gets older...

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

How wonderful that Billy can tell you when he needs to be with you instead of at his mom's. It sounds like you were in tune with his situation. You are both very lucky to have each other. I hope he has a wonderful time trick-r-treating with his aunt and uncle, and that you have a very successful hunt!

Eatonton, GA(Zone 8b)

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Dahlianut {{{HUGS}}}}} oh and most defiantly the lawn does need some dahlias..
Billy and Mr Haystack have a special bond one of which I am glad of..I try and update Mr Haystack on here about him since I truly suck at writing and sending it pony mail.
Billy loves to sit and watch me type and I think that helps with him to read. I read to him from here, and show him pictures, lol...
I hope that Billy grows up to be half the man Mr Haystack is... I will be the lucky one...

Ferndale, WA

At the risk of making a few people upset, first off let me say I am hunting to put meat in the freezer for this winter not just the kill.
