Oh Haystack.. I'm sorry if I ever said anything to hurt you... You know I love you both dearly and am forever grateful for DG bringing us all together.

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

Mr Haystack, Billy and I are so blessed to have you in our lives, and will continue to value our friendship that has become an important part of who we are. I have made some valuable friends here, and for the short time you were not on, it was like a void was in our life. I am terrible using pony mail to communicate, I will be the first to admit it...

WAY to go Mrs Haystack......

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Awesome Hay!!! My 4' 11"Aunt and Uncle each have Harleys and go to the MidWest and cruise for a couple of weeks then haul them back to Louisiana lol

I just reread your post Hay. Originally I thought it was Mrs. Hay's motorcycle and I was picturing her vroom, vroom, vrooming about and you charging after her on a horse "Wait for meeeeee" (tee hee)

No ZZ's you have never hut me or my feelings, I just know sometimes I speak up when I should shut up. Your knowledge, funny expressions, and just all around solid steadfastness is unsurpassed. I have absorbed so much info from you and Catsy both and You are probably the foremost person responsible for me being here. I treasure you and I don't say that lightly...Hay

Hey ZZ's with my eyesight problems I could not tell for sure, so I thought maybe I best make some clarification...LOL...YIKES...Hay

You forgot to add, Zz's kindnesses. She has helped me out in pm several times, for which I am so grateful. Once was when my new baby chicks had mites. Mites will kill baby chicks quickly, and that's what was happening to mine. She was able to answer right back and knew right away what was wrong.

Ferndale, WA

I agree that she is priceless, but then I think all of you are. Hay

Mrs Hay isn't much for the computer, but NO she doesn't have her license and you could never pay her enough to try and ride on her own. She only gets on the the kickstand is down...She does nowever love to ride with me but she doesn't like the new bike. She is used to the larger Goldwings that we used to own. She is spoiled so I ride alone now most of the time. I love the new sport model however...

Remember how he shot those chickens he was mad at? I keep thinking about that. He should have said something and one of us would have taken them off his hands.

So curious about those chickens. What kind were they again?

My standard poodle gets on my nerves sometimes I almost wish she would die. Before you judge me, think about this, every time I go into my own backyard the dog begins to bark and won't hush. SO AGGRAVATING !
She is barking so I will throw a toy for her or something, she just wants attention, but sometimes I just can't stand it, and she just won't stop.

When she was young we didn't have a lot of time to spend with her, but honestly I think she's just the way she is because that's who she is, hyper and loud.

Richmond, TX

The chickens Haystack shot were Minorcas. I recently discovered that the six Jersey Giant pullets I was given for Mothers' day are Minorcas and two are roosters. So far I haven't shot any but I did clip wings after one was killed by my dogs when she flew over their fence. They are very reactive - to put it mildly.

I have used bark collars with success for various dogs that barked excessively. They will not work on really stupid dogs but the others soon catch on.

Ferndale, WA

OH Porkpal, you had me rolling, (putting it mildly) That is the understatement of the year. Yeah Porkpal mine were buff minorcas, They are great foragers, but they have never seen a fence they did not want to fly over. My wife complained to me daily about those jail breaking birds that would not be confined. Arghhh...Every day I would enter the coop they would go crazy and upset the whole flock and It would take an hour before they would settle down. All that stopped immed when I put those miserable things out of their misery. I never even missed the eggs...LOL...Hay

(Zone 6b)

I was reading the Animal Control regulations for my town yesterday. One thing it said is for our animals not to be roaming around the neighborhood. Which is one reason I bought the silkies because they do not fly.

I sure do like some of the other breeds though.

It said the chickens should not be less than 50 feet from where someone sleeps, eats, or lives. I'm not exactly positive I am legal, but nobody is bothering me about them. When I asked Animal Control before I bought them they said it was okay and not to worry about it, but that lady was new and has since been replaced. As long as I don't have too many it should be fine.

I REALLY WANT A DUCK! I'm afraid to ask them about getting a duck.

It says that they cannot be used for commercial enterprises. Does that mean I cannot sell eggs?

I realize we all need laws to live by, but sometimes it seems they go too far in encroaching on our freedoms.

Ferndale, WA

Many of the laws on the books are good, some however are so bad, one has to just play dumb, and ignore them. The Chief of Police here in Ferndale is a friend of mine and because I was in law enforcement we talk often and both sometimes just shake our heads a the foolishness of some laws. If all the laws were enforced it would be a nightmare. When I was working as a motor officer my watch commander would sometimes get so mad at me for not writing tickets. He would say (Your paid to write tickets not counsel), I just believed many of the young people need someone to warn them rather than always attack their pocketbooks. It worked well for me but I was never popular with my superiors. You'll probably never be bothered with your flock, and if you are just play dumb...Works for me...Hay

Biggs, KY(Zone 6a)

My flock thinks I'm dumb and they are not playing. :(

Cajun, that is ONE GORGEOUS ROOSTER!

So the chickens are playing games with you?

Ferndale, WA

No Green, I'm still here. One of my boys who is only 42, has been in the hospital with kidney cancer and my wife and I have been very busy the past week with him. They just removed the ruptured cancerous kidney and don't think it has spread any further but tests will reveal what all is really going on. He is very upbeat with it all and we trust the Lord will have his way in all of it...

I just picked up seven new Seramas, three roos and four hens. They are very pretty and look nothing like mine. So I now have enough new genes to last me a lifetime as none of the new ones are related to each other. I introduced them to my flock last night and could hardly believe it. Not one squabble in fact they were accepted like they'd known each other forever. I was very pleasantly surprised. I will take pic's of them and my pheasants hopefully tomorrow if it doesn't rain...Hay

Best wishes to your son. I hope all is now well with him. A good attitude counts for a lot.
