more Blooming Brugs

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Elizabeth, would like some seed for a Texas Star Hibiscus?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I do not have half the plants that AuntB or tropicman has, they both live here in Kansas and their stuff makes mine look anemic. I tend to grow more perennials than tropicals. Out of 8 Special cajun hibiscus from last year, only 4 survived.
( The really fancy ones) I have so may coleus and pentas to try to send away, and begonias and salvias and .. *sigh*
I never heard of a tuber rosa until this thread by the way..

I have the white and the red Texas Hibiscus from Lazlo. I planted some seeds early summer and now I have plants, (to bring in) sigh. Why I torture myself is beyond me, but then I to go to tropicmans house and see his 300 pound bananas and coconut trees and tree sized plumerias and well, you know my stuff is tiny, except for my brugs and my hibiscus. My regular tropical hibiscus I bring in every year, this year I gave my double peach and double red away, hope she brings it in, she put it in the ground.. it will never survive a winter here.
None of my gingers bloomed yet, how long before they should be brought in?

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Beautiful blooms, Debra. I love that pink hibiscus.Debra, would you like some of the tuberoses when I divide them? What in the world does tropicman do with those huge plants in the winter? I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my thai black banana....maybe lay it down in the crawl space???Debra, what kind of begonias do you have? I have a couple red dragon wings, that I plan on bringing in.I would love seeds of your Goji berry, when ya get some.
I hate those cucumber beetles! They love my painted lady blooms, too, Elizabeth. I did dig and pot up most of the elephant ears. All but the regular green ones, anyway. I pulled the little waterfall up, and cleaned it, and have it ready to bring in....I'm getting there, slowly but surely.
Here's Painted Lady this morning with more blooms.

Good Morning
Sheri, that's so sweet of you too offer, I am starting too cut some Brug clippings, if I can't find your Addy, you'll have too Dmail it too me, give me about 3 weeks
I will be sending you a Box, the best way I have of rooting them this time of year is with peat moss, you just have too keep it moist, not soggy

Debra, I do do the same thing torture myself, but this year I am getting rid of some of the Huge plants, so I don't have too take them in Mostly the houseplants & the Brugs that I have more than one of, I have 3 Strawberry Creme, they got over 6ft tall, I am just keeping one of those, anything that has too be brought in just bring it in before it Frost, last year it was November right before Thanksgiving here

Elizabeth

Hamilton, OH

Dee
your Painted Lady, looks great, my EE's didn't do good at all, next Spring I will have too buy some, then put them out, you'll have everything ready when it's time, you have done a lot this year remolded the house you live, mowed all that grass, put in new flower beds, sold your house, that's a lot too get done but Yippee you did it
I could only wish I had gotten that much done, this week end my DD & I are having a Garage sale, I hope too sell some plants when we do have it, I am lucky the Garage is back on the other street, they are starting too tear up my Street out front, they're putting in a new sewer line, then they are going to resurface the Street, then they are tearing out the sidewalk in front of the house, putting in a new one, I am going too hate seing that bill for that, they will put it on my taxes, but Hey I have plenty of parking
so we can park the car out by the Garage while they do the work, I'll take photo's after it's done

Elizabeth

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

It has been a busy summer, here, Elizabeth, but things are about to slow down.
Don't buy Elephant ears...I'll be glad to share mine with you. I can either send now...as soon as I get the rest dug, or send some in the spring. I have the regular green ones, black stem, elena, and coffee cups...no need for you to buy any girl.
Sounds like you are gonna have a mess out front for a while.Thank goodness that you have that nice driveway and garage out back! Hey, Elizabeth, did you put that cool light of yours out this summer? Was it palm leaves? I can't remember, but I know that I was drooling over it..lol
Dee

Hamilton, OH

Dee
you're not going too believe this, I put an ad on Craigslist, too try too sell some of my plants, I got a call from a lady this evening, she coming tommorrow too look at what I have, my add read for the serious collector, Dee it was palm leaves, no it's still in the garage, I would like too sell it, I don't have company often enough too put it out
I talked too my neighbor this evening, he is sad that I will be moving, we agreed that there's nothing wrong with my sidewalk, so he is going too take Pictures of it, there's a street not too far from me that has the sidewalk up 5 inches from winter heaving, a serious fall risk that's not marked too tear out. anyway he is going around taking
photo's of the one worse than ours, I am going too miss him when we move, he loves my plants, he ask me if he could take photo's of my plumeria when it's in Bloom
I told him be my guest, I'll have too give him one too plant in his yard. when i move, O.K. I'll not buy any EE's, I have some Brugs that I know you don't have, you know I'll share with you, I so wish you lived closer, can you imagine the walk way in between our house's if you did

Elizabeth

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Elizabeth, you could set some plants out for sale in your garage sale. I did that one year and sold every one of them.
I have some EEs for you too.. some lime zinger and well a bunch is all I can say. I have big dipper, illustrious and some other cool ones. I am potting up the ones I am keeping, all of them have set pups. I also am only keeping one of hat I am growing. I am not giving any away to people here in Kansas except Bonnie and Don, they both grow brugs. My sis in law Dana has three I have given her, she does real well, but all the rest I have given away have been ignored or destroyed from lack of interest I think,, and that makes me sad. I am going to offer up big sticks for postage this fall, but I can't wait until frost to bring in cuz I can't work under stress and that is what would happen.
Dee I will save you all some of those goji berries. They sure grow fast from seed is all I can say.
Salvias are all busting with colour here as are the asters and sweet joe pye weed. here is a bloom from one of the duplicate Isabellas I have.

But sometimes ...most times it's ivory with a peach heart ???
So it changes according to conditions, but it's a strong healthy grower and was my second American cross seedling .*Lucky me*
This is how it is most times.
It's 8/9ft tall and the blooms are fragrant and long lasting.
(Sorry to waffle everyone, but you all know how proud we are of our babies ^_^ please excuse)

Elizabeth, I think you found a tomato hornworm...host plants are members of the nightshade family, and it turns into a sphinx(hummingbird)moth. Was it BIG? I have one of those big black and yellow garden spiders, that has woven a big web on the corner of the pergola out back. Now, I'm not crazy about spiders, people, but it reminds me of when I used to see them all the time when I was a kid..lol...so I just leave her alone and watch her. They sure seemed alot bigger when I was a youngun'..lol Elizabeth, if we lived next door to each other...there would nothin, but a bare path between our homes.
Chrissy, those blooms are beautiful!
Charleen, isn't Painted Lady a beauty?...So is your banana! Don't be a stranger...we miss you!
Dee

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Chrissy that is a gorgeous plant you grew from Brenda. I grew three of her corsses, but silly me I gave them away.
Not doing that anymore. Now I don't have any of her seeds..
Charleen we have missed you! Painted lady and banana are awsome as is your bog garden.
Dee, you really made my day today.
I have alot of named brugs. I am giving away the noids except for one, the original I got that was mis ID'd and I fell in love with it and came to DG. Too bad I lose the tags, All of the brugs I have gotten have been named at one time. Oh well..

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

Debra, I am glad that I made your day. I tried to send things that you might not have. Sounds like my pickins' worked. Now, if I can just figure out what to send to Elizabeth...lol I've got some goodies figured out for Charleen. It is so nice to have someone to share your extras with, when you know they will enjoy them as much as you do! I know all about Noid, previously named brugs. I have several with faded beyond recognition tags...like Elizabeth says, it's pencil tagging for me from now on.
Gordon, how cool is that ..a mule school.Charleen, I think you should take Charlie there. He could show them how a good mule should be treated...spoiled silly!
Elizabeth. That will really creep out your GD...lol. But, I bet she will like watching him go thru the growth cycles.I know you have plenty to feed that feller!
Dee

Beautiful blooms, everyone! No charleen, it doesn't get any better than brugs, EE's and gourds.Love the EP.I really like the black stem, too Charleen. It's a good strong grower. That little pink stem one wouldn't do anything for me.Looks like it is happy with you! Girl, your brugs have done great this year...wish I had some Charlie poo..
Elizabeth, I did have a good time with the grandkids. We made a bunch of little ghosts, for hanging in trees, for Halloween, for when they go camping .Every year their family goes camping at Turkey Run state park. They do it up big there for Halloween. Everyone decorates, and they have all sorts of contests. The kids just love it . Oh course the 12 year old was too grown up to help us with the ghost. She had better things to do ...like gab on the phone and text..lol
Dee

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Dee, want me to send you a box of poo? I've got another to send the first of the month.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The brug blooms with the passies are awsome Charleen. I wish my monster passion vines would bloom soon.
It is raining here now, I am glad cuz the brugs needed all the tiny worms washed off.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Debra, I hope we get some rain. I have to water my brugs everyday. I see where one has a hole chewed in it.
Suns bright and it sure doesn't look like rain, they are calling for it this week end. I pray so. I think those are Gordon's passion vines up there, all I have are wild , going to have plenty of seed if you want, let me know.
Charleen
