Evelyn is on a trip to a reunion.

The remark is usually meant as a back handed remark. I always thought they meant with a little refinement, learning, you would turn into a diamond. It is always stated by some smart ***. It has been years but I still remember the tone it was said.

I think the individual was just simply jealous. I was the first female mortgage loan officer for Transamerica Corporation. She was a underwriter and still is and I shot the moon and succeeded Probably still makes her mad that the miner's daughter with a high school education left her with her college degree in the dust....

Well I got that off my chest.

DH is having pace maker implanted tomorrow am so I need to start thinking about bed.

You may not be aware, but my Dad, Trois, worked for NASA in the 60's. He had nothing but a high school diploma, and years of self taught practical electrical engineering. On my birth certificate he's listed as a TV Repairman.
He taught me I don't need to have a Diploma to achieve my dreams. As long as you can comprehend the directions you can do just about anything. His job at NASA was teaching and changing out the old vacuum tube computers for the newer electronic ones. I got that tid bit about him second hand, from another DG'er who knew him. When I asked what he did for NASA, he just said he helped them track the orbit of the Moon. May have done both. He was out of the country for several years during my childhood, working in Bermuda, at a NASA tracking station. It's amazing what you can do when you really want it.
As far as office Jealousy, I'm well aware of it.
I applaud you for making it easier for me to make Office Supervisor before my 30th b.day. That and my even younger boss, who told me I was wasting my time on menial tasks, and set it up for me to take the Civil Service Exam, which I'd missed due to a surgery.
Very few women mentor other women and it's a real shame.
Now if only we could get equal pay for equal work and be promoted on merit alone. The world will change.

Thanks Sherman and the rest of you. When I left to go home, he was flirting with the young nurse. He was still stoned from the drugs. I should of had a video camera. After 40+ years together, I think he will be just fine. Just needs to get his heart rate correct so he will not be so tired.

Hi all - great quotes from everyone, I have copied most of them into a Word Doc I am keeping with other quotes I hear.

Sharon - how is you husband doing, now that he has had the weekend to come down off the big drugs? It's amazing how fast they get everyone on their feet again these days, isn't it. No lying around on hospital beds - get out there and start moving around. My dad had a pacemaker installed several years ago. He has an irregular heartbeat and had started having problems with that. He's healthy - walks 3 miles a day since his early 60's (83 in Dec) - just needed an adjustment. Hope this 'tweaking' helps your DH!
