Wow, your electric bills are REALLY low. July was $365 August $290
It's 96° right now with 29% humidity
Talk about HOT, hubby was working on a tin roof
Today's Weather in your Garden - 77
95° in boston so we are probably about the same. Dug irises for my neice this morning & came back in about 11 am. We have a fairly cool house & by being quiet & watching the tennis I have managed to do without a/c. If the cummulating heat makes it too bad this evening I will have to move into the room with a window machine. Planned menu so don't have to run the stove may help.
My bill was way high last month also..no A/C on yet, fans are going, but I can see putting it on for tomorrow's record breaker....UGH.
We might be comparing "apples to oranges"; households vary on what is hooked up to electric, gas, oil, etc.
- and how big an area you're trying to cool down
No, it's right, Bill. Used the a/c more than ever before and had the pool running 24/7 for about 5 weeks trying to solve the problem.
It's going to be stupid hot again today with higher humidity just to make it feel more oppressive. Watered the seedlings and pots, fed the birds and filled the birdbaths early this am. That will be the extent of my outdoor activity today I think. Current temp is 79 degrees with a very light westerly wind.
78°, wind WNW 3.1mph, Rh 56%, hazy sun
Severe weather warning due to poor air quality again today. Going to be a hot one.
Looking foward to the cooler temps this weekend though...I can make it thru a couple more days...hopefully we get some drenching rain here, I need it desperately
It's 87° already 45% humidity
We need rain as well. supposed to b e in the 90s again.
Yes, Earl's current guess track takes him close to the coast.
87 now, with 62% H. Yuck.
We just have to get through 72 hours of heat and/or storm damage, then "all clear."
A line of dialog from "Will & Grace":
"Oh ,for god's sake...grab a bottle, hunker down, and pray for daylight!"
I can tell there is too much ozone in the air....my eyes are burning.....I have the air on downstairs, but not up here in the dogs' room....will wait until later to put it on up here. It was stupid hot today----ran around with my Mom all afternoon, glad to be home.
Hit 93. 89 now, with 45% H.
Seems like each update has been bringing the storm closer.
temp 88 this afternoon, but air very oppresive. I finally had to retreat to our A/c room this afternoon. the 3rd day of heat always gets to me. DH mail the iris box to OR. They said that they have weeds because of rain. We manage without water.
oh goodness don't talk about weeds... I need an army to help me get rid of them
me too!
Air was very heavy today it hit 96° here
Only hit 89° here, but I was nice & cool with the a/c @ 77°.
Still predicting 95° for tomorrow. I can do without that.
Hit 92 here yesterday and will see the same or better today. YUK!
We have not dared to mention 'Earl' around Tarsha as we didn't want her to worry. So last weeked when she asked me about the weather for this weekend I just said "Looks like rain Friday night but 70 on Sunday." Well we knew we couldn't hide Earl from her but why make he worry for nothing, right? There was no hiding it completely and last night she posted this on her FaceBook page.....
"Dear Earl, I am not too fond of your arrival this coming weekend, but if you MUST come, please have your belongings out by Sunday morning. Not even YOU could ruin our wedding day, nothing can, but you could hinder my beautiful wedding pictures and I don't like that. Thank you. Sincerely, a very nice and environmentally kind bride-to-be :)"
LOL Thats MY girl!!!!
Our local weather mann said today(Thurs.) will be the last hot day this year.
I am holding him to that, our electric bill is horrific.
Supposed to be a cold front moving in,temps will be in the 60's and 70's for the weekend and holiday.
earl could hit the cape and islands or come very close tomorrow. this guy seems to keep moving westerly and surprising the forecasters.
hot again today.
78°, wind SSW 2.6mph, Rh 68%, hazy sun
Wimpy hurricane Earl is well off the coast here, hoping for some rain at least. (lol)
Last hot day before we feel the effects of Earl. Want the rain not the wind. Hope he stays far enough away to not cause much trouble for anyone. It does seem to be moving quite fast at least. Temp 81 degrees already and sunny. Not much wind, calm before the storm I guess.
Dear Hurricane Earl:
Many people have plans for this weekend, so please be a sweetie and steer eastward, away from land. Thanks
Mandatory evacuation of all OBX. We'll fall back to a friends' in Great Bridge, Va. We are not moving our stuff, since we're here another week and conditions are still iffy. I expect we'll be back tomorrow. Ric
Great message Celeste.
They say high of 94 today
Cute, Celeste. I'll take some rain.
87 with 63% H. Gross again. Looking forward to 70's on Saturday!!!
Very cute from Tarsha....she has her Mom's outlook! Air is soupy right now....will go out later & stow garden furniture. Good luck, Ric.....
Earl is a monster! Stronger than Katrina when it hit land.
There are hurricane warnings for parts of MA.
Eeeek!
A hurricane warning is out for part of the Massachusetts coast including Nantucket as Earl bears down on the Eastern Seaboard.

Patti's off the Island, right???
Just thought of something. Does homeowners insurance cover damage to the garden?? I don't mean just removing a downed tree, but will they pay for lost plants??? I doubt it.
I doubt it, if it's not put down as a rider to the policy it's probably just the house alone.
