Garden Photos #30

South Hamilton, MA

Our poor little dwarf dahlias dried up in the drought. I suspect the pansies are gone as well. This rain might revive those, but I doubt it.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks ge. wha I find peony hoops work like a charm on rudbeckias with floppage. Like this (but WAY cheaper at the hardward store) http://www.leevalley.com/en/garden/page.aspx?p=58904&cat=2,43319,33282

O that is so sad about your dahlias irisMA :(

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i could do that or stick a post in and wrap with some green garden wire from HD. i had about 20 plants so it is a pain to do them all. i do it for coneflowers, deph's, some HH's and a few others. need to draw a line somewhere.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I like the hoops cuz I just leave them in all year and tuck the plants in when they come up. They support the seed pods in the w*i*n*t*e*r too and my fav thing about them is their seed pods.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Now that's more like the right price!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

your welcome Celeste... it is a nice one

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

LeeValley's wire might bbe of a heavier gague but for the price of these I'll deal with a bent leg. I grasp the attached leggs low in order to push them deep into the grouns.
I used to buy supports from Walt Neiche's but I dont think they sell products anymore, just has a garden newsletter. The supports were expensive.Twenty dollars for a five foot lily ring.

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Thanks Robindog. Sorry to hear about the mildew. Our Summer was really dry and that helped a lot. Last year lots of my plants had been affected by it.

Thomaston, CT

Pixie, I can't bring any live plants home from Bill's, because I'm heading to Kport for awhile, but thanks for the thought!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

All lovely pics you guys. Pretty Stella and gaillardia pics. That cosmos is just amazing JoAnn.
Geranium Rozanne is a tough plant. They get really large. I had to move one of mine because it had outgrown it's place and with the heat and drought did not know if it would survive, but It is re-growing in it's new location after I ripped it to shreds really. Some plants want to survive no matter what torture the gardener inflicts on them, love that.
