This Tufted titmouse was working on a seed in the canopy, out of the rain.

Duc, I really can't say for sure if they are all juvie PM's or not. But they way they acted when the adult males flew by...I think maybe so. I am just becoming more familar with the Martins!

how about some Blue Birds.....female

Once again, I'm too far behind to comment on all the photos I'd like to. However, I've got to say, Duc, that they are amazing photos of the Grebes in action. I take my hat off to you (well I would if I was wearing one) for managing such shots from a kayak. I went out yesterday in my kayak and took a few photos, but deleted every one of them.

Here's a static Kookaburra.

Oh how I love that Kookabura, Margaret. Great pics. everyone, I'm way behind myself. I'll need a couple of days to catch up with all the pictures.

I don't have much to contribute but this Great Blue Heron tries to escape my pet's harrassment;

White-fronted Terns, not Caspian! ;-)

Resin

We have Caspian terns here (Sterna caspia)....which is the white-fronted tern?

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Beautiful kookaburra!!

Enjoying all the young Blue Jays around!

Hack, your cardinal looks like it would prefer the sun. We sure could use some of that cooling rain.

Nanny, your bbs are beautiful. Your jays are cute and the doves look so happy.

Margaret, keep practicing in the kayak. Maybe your river was moving a little more than our lake was when I took my pictures. I just plain love the sound of the water when we're out there. Your Kookaburra is one of my favorite birds-honest! I love all the different colors and the look on their face reminds me of my juvie jays-so innocent.

Lily, your heron is pretty. Do they leave much mess on your dock? They sure do here on the roofs of boats and docks.

I think this is a juvenile Coot. Found it and some adorable smaller ones on the lake the other day. Unfortunately my photos of the babies didn't turn out very good. Oh well, that just gives me reason to look for more.

This Lesser Goldfinch stopped by the garden on its way to a feeder.

This young Scrub Jay sure looked all fluffy.

Caught this Hooded Oriole waiting his turn at a hummer feeder. Normally they just go straight to the feeder and push the other birds away.

The ones in Bootandall's pic, above (I'd assumed that was what you were talking about!)

Great shots all!

Duc, Love that Goldfinch.

ducbucln and MargaretK, you two are braver than me. I'd be scared of flipping the kayak (or canoe, also) and ruining my camera stuff.

Ouch, that would really hurt.

Trust me Hack, it's no white water kayaking that I do.

Port Elizabeth, South Africa(Zone 10a)

My bad, I talked about burd's pics, higher up..but thanks for the other of bootandall. What surpises me is that we see Caspian Terns inland, never big groups, but I've seen some 800km away from the coast.

Blenheim, New Zealand

Its great to see all the appelling and scary birds. I've never seen terns inland !! but then I have never seen most of the above either. boot .
Fantail

Nice one boot!!

PERTH, Australia

Boots, that's gorgeous. Is it a Fantail?

I was so dreadfully disheartened by a series of shots I took of two Ospreys at the wildlife sanctuary south of the river that I deleted them all. To console myself I went down to the northern edge of Fremantle Harbour this afternoon. There was an osprey sitting on top of a (short) lighthouse. I was actually too close to the bird, but if I'd tried getting farther from it, I would have ended up in the ocean.

Beautiful Osprey Margaret!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Margaret, the Osprey's look was how I felt yesterday! One of those hairy days. I'm glad you're safe and sound and didn't fall into the Ocean. Here is Lord Byron, the Redheaded Woodpecker visiting the feeder.

He is truly stunning, Lily.

The Fantail is very cool!!

Yup....Eastern Towhee male, Lily... good pic!

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Love the Towhees.
I can't believe how busy my feeders were this morning, as hot as it is.
House finch, cardinal, indigo, and tufted titmouse here.
The brown-headed nuthatches, chipping sparrows, and wrens are all over the place too. I even saw a black-and-white warbler for the first time. no pic of him, though. haha

How nice to have Indigo Bunting comes to the feeder Julie. The T. Titmouse is singing away isn't it. One of my fav. resident birds. A young male Cardinal this morning.

nanny_56 - I really liked the looks of your female and male Blue Birds.

MargaretK - your Kookaburra is a unique looking bird! AND that close-up pic of the Osprey is fantastic.

Lily_love - I trust your pet enjoyed itself playing with that Great Blue Heron, lol.

ducbucln - yep, my Cardinal would probably have preferred the sun. AND your pic of the Hooded Oriole is super!

f_chisolm - wow, what a great shot of the two Juvenile Green Herons.

bootandall - well, I can certainly see why it is called a fantail. Nice pic.

Lily_love - that is one of your better shots of Lord Byron. AND nice capture of the male Eastern Towhee. I haven't seen one for a while.

JulieQ - great variety of birds you have there. I especially liked the Indigo Bunting.

Well, I finally got me some decent shots of some Ruby-throated Hummers.

I placed a coat hanger wire between the feeders and they landed, giving me time to work.

Here's one, I'd say it was either a female or maybe a juvie.

And if you're wondering, it's raining here again.

Hack, my JB (jelly bean) thinks he's king of the hill when he chased after the Herons. lol. Here is a nice setting for the GBH;

Now, this one I know is a male, but not sure if it is an adult or a juvie.

AND that IS a very nice setting for the GBH, Lily

I caught it in flight, but the shutter speed wasn't fast enough to stop the wing action.

The hummingbirds are so sweet!

Here's a male Cardinal.

PS, Lily, I think they are sweet too, just hard for me to photograph.
