70° It would be nice if we could keep our cloud cover as the iris society is having its members auction today. 2 poor little dwarf dahlias have bit the dust as well as some of this spring's germinated iris seedlings. Anyone know a rain dance.?

Even though the temps are up to 80, the low humidity is making it very comfortable here. I enlisted Hank to escort me out to the veggie garden as my personal assistant, armed with a wheelbarrow and a trash bag to begin the onslaught/marathon weeding session required.

Ohh no Victor, they were heading east and we were heading back home, since I was busy driving and we were moving in opposite directions I couldn't very well stop and make a u-turn just to take his pic, but don't worry, we saw him for you. (hee,hee!)

Thank you--the auction was full of friends all the way from VT & Maine to us Mass. types. We had a great time & a 3 min shower of very fine rain.

Hey!! You know there was a polo match that we just missed as we drove there! It was being held at one of the stables close to Bridgehampton & was open to the public, I would have loved to have seen that! Yipee!!

Great fun; hockey on horseback. There are polo games here.

We didn't know they had them here so close, when we saw the sign my eyes opened wide! lol! It was held in the am, ( I guess so that it's cool enough for the horses). I have to find out their schedule, that's one game I'd really like to see!

The humidity that started to return yesterday is in full force this morning. Got some more watering done and there is a chance of showers later this afternoon and evening. Sunny now and a temp of 82 degrees with a light southerly breeze.

Getting sticky hot. Almost time for the ac.

Like what have I done today? Bed striped, bed, living room vacuumed, and 3 loads of laundry hung out. Next wash kitchen floor and then start the dang bathroom.

I always do the icky-ist jobs first (the bathroom), so subsequent chores get easier and easier.

We all work different, even in the gardens. In there I work right to left. In the house (depending cleaning, painting etc) Cleaning I start from the outest points and come in. If I was remodling/painting, it would be top to bottom inside to out.

Yep makes perfect sense. Doing hard cleaning this week too my daughter's b-day party is Sunday

We had about an inch of rain last night starting just after midnight. DH checked the ground and found that the far away iris beds were still quite dry. However I think that our new seedlings (germinated this spring) were probably greatful. Some had very short roots compared to others.
