Guess not Debra, that is what you sent.
I really like it and so does hubby. Will it make it through the winter? Do I need to bring it in?
She's about to...52
Love that Tiki pot LK. That cracked me up.
Fruity your #7 looks vaguely like Henna. Thanks for the heads up on the bulb thing. You'll be getting mail from Bubba for that one. :0)
Gently raining here right now. Lots of storms around, but so far they are missing and we are just getting a nice rain.
Hi all, Susan, so glad your coleus are doing good. Yes, the cuttings came from Nita. LOL they were so small I didn't think they would ever root, and now mine have outgrown everything I've put them in.

#'s : 2,3,4,5,
8,9,10
15,16,17,19
19,20,21,23
25 & 26
Dang, you are going to have a great ru......
fotv, swapping then sounds perfect and I think we only have one duplicate.....yeah! LOL Anyone else let me know. I will take some pics this evening.
Linda Kay, Love that planter, that looks like dread locks....LOL I probably didn't spell that right.
Last night was the trip home from the other world (which is not good)! 112 heat index, bumper to bumper traffic, no one is moving, a lady rolls down her window next to me, and says, "Dear your tire is really low". I try looking, her lane moves and another guy pulls up while I am still sitting and say "Your tire isn't low it is FLAT". Yeap I could see it pulling from the rim..........Call DH 45 minutes away and give him the really good news! 10 minutes later, I finally got to pull over to a parking lot, and WAIT! The good news about downtown is there is an incredible amount of people to watch! Bad news about downtown if the heat index is 112 it must of been 120 with all the concrete. DH must of been a really good boy because by the time he got there a big old black cloud had rolled in and dropped the temps at least 20 degrees and it didn't rain. It was like the black could was waiting on him to finish.....other bad news I am alot poorer now! I had just bought 2 new tires and the rears were good...."were" I guess is the key word in the phrase. Oh well, just money I wasn't planning on spending....
Which Coleus do we have in common, happ? Anyone who can make it to the RU on September 25th, come on over.....no flat tires here.

If I remember correctly when I use to drive to NC (goldsburg) it was just a 24 hour trip, if I can find 3 drivers, we can do like when I was alot younger, poorer, and stupid. We drove to Panama Beach FL for the 4th of July weekend. We drove to a 1/4 tank of gas, stopped, filled up, switched drivers, one person would go in the back seat and sleep, the other two would talk, repeat, until you hit your destination....rofl. Partied all weekend, got back in the car, dove back, and went to work on Tuesday. I don't remember my head hitting my desk falling asleep on Tuesday, course now it would probably kill me....
fotv, I thought the lime green one was the same but I have decided it isn't. Mine is solid lime green. I took pics but they came out all the wrong colors. This camera has the flash come on before it is dark, if I turn it off, then it keeps it open so long I blurr the picture.....still trying to learn the pit falls. Actually trying to teach the human behind it I guess.
We have spray planes, I sure haven't seen any spray helicopters! Usually they are much more expensive to operate, than a plane.

Faye, what are all the letters and numbers behind the names? Sorry to ask, but I know nothing about lilies!
mwe neither. Lillies, I have about 4 kinds. LOL
Linda my creeping jennys and creeping sedums survive the kansas winter. I gotta get some of the succulent sedum that creeps nd blooms. That one u have will bloom too, yellow flowers. I wanna go to the ru, * whine*
Joyce, poor you, oh gosh I felt bad for you just reading that. *hugs*
I will take a few pics of my coleus pots and u can see if there is anything you want, mine came from gebhardts, except for my KONGs, and the ones I wintered over and the ones I started from last years seeds.
Morning everyone.
Hope you all have a great day. It is Friday and the week-end will be here soon.
Not that I want to tempt anyone but there is a tropical swap going on........
Course I am right there since I have zone envy so bad.
Debra thank you for the hug...LOL at a younger age I would of total freaked out being in the traffic, there is a lot to be said for age. If I could stop aging now or a few years younger, I would be quite content..... ;D I am still freaking about the money....rofl. sortof laughing, think of the flowers I could of bought.
Debra, some of my coleus came from Arnolds and the others from home depot, except for my fav which came from Windy Ridge Nursery up by me. Want any of mine? Course that would help if I would post pics! Will do this weekend.

Wow, I had no idea all the variations of a lily! Thanks.
Figured that was more than anyone cared to know about daylilies. I was really glad to learn about the proliferation. I have daylilies that do that but didn't know you could root them.
114 heat index tomorrow! Suppose to be a break on Sunday, it would feel chilly at a 100! LOL
Whew............A big thank you happ. for the daylily info. I had no idea, except for the names, I copied all the other info when I searched for colors. ANDDDDDDDDD...I did not buy these lilies, my friend gave them to me.

Bat, Bird, and Butterfly House swap ending today, sign up before it is too late?
Linda Kay, I would love to but I am in 3 swaps already. Terrified I am not going to get everything done. Think this winter I will work on projects like bird houses or the such for swaps in 2011, I love doing that kind of thing. I need some around here.
113 heat index is just stupid. I was watering with the hose and standing still and sweating. I have changed clothes 3 times today. Can't stand wet clothes.
ok, got pic of the coleus.
Rustic Orange, this has got to be my favorite, got this plant last year, it was this size in 2009 wintered over , it did drop leaves but jumped right back when I put it outside. We had high winds and hard rain last night and it still looks nice.
Sedona
Thought I had posted this one. I bought it late in the year at home depot. It takes the sun really well.
I have had it bigger before and really liked it.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS....rolf. Least I can't remember any more.
edited to say doesn't look like we have any dups fotv.
This message was edited Aug 14, 2010 2:22 PM
Love them all.
I didn't see any dups either, happ, and would love to try yours. I took cuttings of the ones I have today and will mail them to you when they're rooted, shouldn't take but about a week or so. Same goes for the Chocolate Mint, Debra. I'll mail yours with the Coneflower seedheads. Talk about amazing plants, they already have new buds after pruning them back pretty far.
Caladium "Little Miss Muffet"...found it's name purely by happenstance while browsing a catalog last week-end. Some of the much larger leaf varieties are getting leggy. Just wondered if I cut them back if they'll have time to flush again?
I took 9 cuttings from each, so fotv I should have some to send....LOL I don't know how good I am at rooting plants so I don't want to over commit until I know they will survive. If I don't kill them, I will have lots to share everyone. Course that is a really big IF.....LOL Right now they look pretty good. It has been 24 hours....rofl
Little Miss Muffet is a cutie.I have had my eyeball on a thailand caladium but they just won't put it on sale.... I have grown to really like caladiums. Some of my white ones have brown spots, I am guessing lack of water or too much sun? The caladiums that are in the pot with the bird of paradise that I used bayer rose all in one are huge beautiful and growing like weeds.....Not big on insecticides but almost lost the white bird of paradise so I am being very careful with it, I figured the rose stuff would kill the caladiums.
Pretty pretty Debra, if we all swap we should end up with a nice collection for alot less money. I am either going to buy a heat mat or make a Christmas rope in a box, something to keep the bottom roots and soil warmer, I just have this feeling that is why I keep losing my starts. They do great until dead winter right before I have any hope of spring...LOL Rustic orange is a brute and it just kept on going for me.
edited to ask fotv, how is that new baby lab doing? Sam removed some of my new plant tags for me, guess he thought they were in the wrong spot. Tricked him cause they were on iris and the name was still written on the leaf. DH thought he was old enough to stay outside unattended......well that lasted about 3 weeks before Sam went back to gardening.
This message was edited Aug 18, 2010 11:25 AM
Happ that is funny!! Sam the gardener. What a hoot!
awww.. too funny. Duke dog has been smelling something, prolly a rabbit , in the gardens, he keeps getting his head caught in the little wire fence. I can't leave him out there un attended now. I like gardening critters. Really guys, the best coleus I have are at Danas, I will take pictures in a couple weeks, I can get cuttings from them, they are knock outs.
I came home and went ut to gather seeds , and ended up pulling out several periila and cleome plants off the north fence. It was just too crowded and my poor border dahlias are struggling for some sun. I planted seeds of these and up they came. I didn't keep any strawberry fields gomphrema from last year, I gave them away in my seed grab bag offer, no one has told me if any came up for them.
Those are cuties Debra, do they always bloom this late?
Couldn't help but laugh thinking of Duke with his head caught in the fence, I could see Sam doing something like that....rofl.
Sam the lab is diffently a gardener. He doesn't bother anything else well except for the cushions on the swing that he ate. He did eat (read) one of my gardening books last year, and he enjoyed it sooo much it he pulled out pages and distributed them all over the garden.....uhmmmm maybe he was giving me suggestions.....rofl. Least this year he isn't taking the plants out of the water garden like he did last year, or at least not yet.
We have had two beautiful days today back in the 90's. I did get a lot done, but I am lacking rain and need to plant. How is it in Wichita? Did you get rain in that last storm? I got maybe 10 drops.
We got a 24 hour soak in the last weekend storm. It knocked a branch out of the neighbors tree and it fell onto the Brug row and took out a few leaves, but no stalks. Gomphrema Strawberry Fields bloomed until forst for me last year. I suspect this one will too. I am saving the seeds from it.
Going over to Danas next weekend for BBQ and a swim, so will get pics of the brugs and plants over there that I gave her.
My little Blcak EEs and the large tuber begonia were looking bad, so I unpotted them and found the pots to be water logged. I took them out cut the leaves off and have them wrapped up in paper towels and in a baggie until I figger out what to do next. I am going to take Kylies Pink out this weekend, she is struggling in the front corner of the porch Garden. Can't remember who wanted some of her, so plz dmail me. Flamenco is Y'd, about 7ft tall and budding. CG is budding. PV has Y's finally. Off to bed early up at 5 thirty for work and then off to emporia to pick up college girl for one last trip of stuff. Then I will take her back on Sunday. You should meet me there Joyce, If you would I would take the oleander root ball and the brugs you want.
I would meet you but I have a birthday party to attend. I would be disowned by the family if I miss it.
Beautiful garden. Those ee's look really happy.
I hope to get rain tomorrow. I need it.
Life is good!! DH started back to his new job today and I am working my way through all the loose ends that have been piling up while he was off.
I have to show this pic of my lavender moonvine that Deb sent me the seeds for. This was the first bloom a couple of days ago. I can't tell you how tickled I am that I managed to grow this from seed. :0)
I counted 15 buds of about the same size on Maya this morning. If they can all hang in there that should be an awesome flush. It has cooled down some here and we have had over 3 inches of rain finally in the last week.
Oh, that is so pretty! Lovely color!
