It's so humid here, it's hard to take pictures. We've had a couple dozen white ibis hanging out on at our pond the last couple afternoons. Look at all the babies!
Daily Pix #337
I'm glad the kids are there. I have never seen ibis--egrets up here.
Borders, the babies are so cute! Hope you're able to get more pictures of them soon.
That is cute!!
Great pics everyone....I have a question:
Do anyone know why some birds have red, other yellow and some black irisses (eyes)? I was wondering if it has something to do with their environment and what they feed on....or is it just so, as they say.
Genetics, natural selection - I'd image it has a lot to do with the success of being found attractive by a mate, that way the genes for eye color are passed on.

Here's my last one - not a bird, though.
While I was sitting, waiting for a bird to present itself - the dripping water into the bird bath got my attention. So, I played around trying to capture the moment the drop hit the surface - took a lot of snaps, because it was HARD to do.
Anyway, I finally got this one.

Burd, nice shots...the house sparrow, is that a female...
Nanny, great photo of your Hairy and the Catbird is so close. The Downy is another sweet looking bird.
Hack, nice job with all your birds. Great timing on your water drop!
Burd, more great photos. Love the baby Cowbird Grackle and Wren. The Flickers are such pretty birds. Love that sparrow with the partial leucistic coloring.
This Wrentit has been in the garden early each morning.
We were out on the deck eating lunch when my husband said to grab the camera. This White Pelican flew right over us-good thing I was sitting down or I'd have fallen backwards. Most of the pelicans have flown off to cooler areas, but we're still seeing a few.

Very cool duc! I love the Pelican and the Wrentit is real cute!
Margaret... very nice start! Always love the osprey but that honeyeater is striking! Lots of great photos already... too many to catch up on individually! Nice job everyone!
We have had wicked hot weather lately! Fri, Sat, and Sun we had actual temps of 104-106 with the heat index at 118 all three days! I still had to get out some on my time off and take some photos!
All of our osprey have fledged now, but some will still hang our around the nest, hoping Mom or Dad will bring them something!
This young fella was sitting on the nest eating a fish, while Dad watched from a tree nearby.
