This is Peach Versi, I have not seen it bloom yet. There is also the gingers and the cupids blush next to her.

Ha ha Rita, I went to Ebay after viewing that Alocasia from Tropic but no luck although that's not to say I did not find another plant or two to buy while there;o)

The soil mixture I use for several of my Aroids are from my compost pile with aged horse manure, orchid bark and perlite although it did not work for Alocasia purple cloak which croaked and A. Zebrina reticulata has been a slow grower. Any tips/tricks if you grow either of those would be much appreciated.

I have not owned this plant very long and can not find alot of info. about but I like it and thus far seem's to be easy. Has anyone else here tried growing this plant?

That is beautiful, Rachel!

We Have new leaves, and some blooms on these.
The above flower is misspelled.. it is Nicandra.

Debra, you sure have an extremely nice tropical environment around you! I have enjoyed viewing all your pictures. Was that sweet black E.E. plant that you showed on the previous thread from the Colocasia I sent you?

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Yes Maam, and I am glad you got to see it. I also saw the pretty peruvian Daffodil. I am glad it bloomed for you!
Tropicman gave me this little tree year before last. I thought it was some kind of ficus. It was much fuller inside over the winter, now it is releafing and has a flower !

Here is the bloom I almost missed. If I hadn't of cleaned off the front porch gareden area, I would have missed it.
He didn't know the name of this little tree, and now I want to know.. LOL

My tall Dracaena is flowering each night now and filling the whole place with a sweet vanilla talc fragrance. Wanted to get a photo today but last nights flowers were withering. So got out tonight in the dark with the camera and got these shots.

Standing near the plant taking the photo the fragrance was quite overpowering,

Close-up. You can see tomorrow nights flowers still in buds.

A week ago while in a nursery I saw a lone plant that I'd wanted ages ago but had never found. It was growing out of a pot with something else in it. And it was the intruder. No name on it. The main plant was supposed to be a close relative of the ZZ plant. So I bought the one with the "intruder". It's a "Giraffe's Knees", Gonatopus boivinii. Still haven't found out what the main plant in the pot is.

Its a little hard to see in this picture but I froze my poor Clivia this winter. It had no leaves left and I thought for sure it was dead. but now its showing new growth and blooming away...what a hardy plant!

My cashew is flowering now with small fruits starting to develop.

This is one of two plants I got in a swap the other day, Lasia spinosa.

And this is the other plant, Urospatha grandis. Swapped them for a couple of Typhonodorum lindleyanum.

That's strange, mine have very dense clusters of flowers. I'll get a photo of them tomorrow in the daylight. When mine flower you can be expecting to see the mangos flowering shortly after. The cashews been flowering a couple of weeks and now the mangos are a mass of blooms.

Dartmouth, NS(Zone 6a)

That cashew is 3 years old from seed. This is its second time flowering...and It has twice as many blooms as it did last year. (which is still not a lot) I'm guessing the clusters will get denser with age? or maybe its light. I have it growing in an east facing window with no added artificial light. It seems to be growing well...Its also been blooming for a few weeks

No Debra none of them have rippened but they are getting big.!!!!

Puerto Rico would be a nice place to have a garden. The imagination runs wild.

This is one of my Cashews, red one. Also have yellow ones. That's the colour of the Cashew Apples, which doesn't show up until they start to ripen. As you can see, the small fruits are just green.

Been working on a new garden. Because my soil is so poor I've been "manufacturing" some for the new garden, which also helps to raise its height.

One side has a thick log as a border, the back will end up tapering back to the old ground level. The ends will continue to get more added to them so that the garden will get longer over time.

The area is well shaded and near my dam. The walking area (too wide to call a walk way) is between the dam and the new garden. Another never ending/never completed project added to my already huge list of never completed projects.

Trying some Begonias in the new garden. It's a bit of a gamble with the high temperatures here and our fluctuating humidity. We can get dry winds during the dry season which coupled with the high temperatures are deadly for some plants

Thumbnail by tropicbreeze

This is the second of the 2 Begonias in the new garden. Fingers crossed they'll be okay in the shade and the humidity provided by a couple of small ponds there.

In another part of my place this Thunbergia has decided that despite winter, it's nice enough to come out again. In fact, I think it's the drying out that seems to make a lot of plants stop growth and flowering. If I give them a good drenching on top of their normal light sprinkling they often burst into flower again. My 'Cat's Whiskers' is another that responds, but with white flowers the photo never came out well.
