Coming from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1101642/
So with the last ten days or so being so hot and muggy and only thing doing in the garden has been mandatory watering due to the lack of rain I have turned to the annual making of lists for what I will "need" to order for this fall and next spring. Are you jotting down goodies too every time people post on the photo thread?
Here are a few things I am thinking about for additions and or replacements for things holding a spot that maybe don't thrill me any more.

Then there are some echies like 'Hot Papaya' and 'Milkshake' that I really need. Oh and fall bulbs of course, more daffs needed.
What have you ordered or want to 2010 #9
those are nice pat
Nice I REALLY like the DL.
I've been planning which new bulbs I need for fall.
Looking for peaches and maroons.
Loving those delphs!
Ditto on the DL. YUMMY!
Nice list
Does anyone have the Dutch Iris Oriental Beauty???
Such a difference in colors....which is it???? The brighter blue or lighter???

Quite a difference...don't have it, so I'm no help.
No help here either Jen, sorry.
Went to nursery this afternoon. Here is the goodie list:
hardy hibiscus 'Luna Red'
coreopsis 'Presto'
monarda 'Petite Wonder'
monarda 'Petite Delight'
agastache 'Pink Pop'
hyssop 'Sonoran Sunset'
daisy 'Broadway Lights'
Now all I have to do is get them planted. Maybe next week since it will be bit cooler and wait until late afternoon. Need to yank out a couple things to make room too. The two hyssop were smelling up the car so nicely all the way home.

Nice choices.
We just cut down a dead burning bush. There were little ones coming up nearby that I pulled out before DH could see them and want them to grow back. I may be pulling babies for awhile, I don't know.
Replacing it with a Quick Fire hydrangea.
ut oh have to go look up pink pop
Pretty colors in the list, Pat. As I was weeding the new bed, I could see I need more per. geraniums & heuchera.
Thanks, hope they look as nice in the bed as they do in my imagination. Will take a pic after I get them all in the ground. First need to rip out a big old nasty hosta and overgrown daisies that have been making me cringe for a couple years now, finally reached the "I can't stand it any more!" stage. It will be enjoyable digging them out no matter how hot it is tomorrow. ^_^
I thought I was the only one who let something live two years (or more) beyond what it should....I keep walking by a clump of DLs that I hate......
LOL, I was staring at a clump of DLs this morning and thinking I really need to 86 those suckers. They came with a bunch of generic DLs years ago and by the he time they bloom it is just like now, hot and muggy and I think I will dig them out next spring and then I am not sure which clump is the ugly ones so then I wait, they bloom and I say I need to dig them up when it gets cooler etc, etc. Maybe tomorrow while I am in a destructive mood.
Nice selection Pat, love monardas!
Jen I don't know those from experience but Scheepers photo looks photo shopped while B&Bs looks like a picture straight of the camera, so I would trust the B&B to be accurate. So far I've found them to be really honest with their photos. They don't seem to try and make the colors of the plants look different than they do in real life.
Great selection, Pat
Thanks Meredith
Your welcome, did you notice that there is an additional photo? I clicked on it and it looks more blue than the first. : )
i picked up a varigated hydrangea at hd on sale from $27 for $6.96 - have no idea where it will be planted
Ya, and the second photo looks REALLY purple instead blue
Cool Wha! My DH said he would like a red tree, I was thinking the only ones I would really want would be a Japanese Maple, are there any that are supposed to get quite tall? Or are they all slow growing dwarfs? I know you can probably think of stuff off the top of your head where it would take me hours of googling to figure it out. :)
Yes, Jen it is more purple than blue, isn't it? The first pic looks practically white lol. Maybe that's after it bleaches from the sun?
how tall meredith? anything you get would be smallish now and grow - the standard bloodgood would be nice or its close cousin red baron (i like this better). really depends on how high and also the light conditions it will be in.
I would say the ones you suggested are the right height. Thank you, I think he wants something pretty tall because he sees the neighbors trees and says it. I am not sure what hers are but they are tallish and still pretty young and don't look like JMs. I love the dissected look to the leaves on JM's. There aren't a lot of pics of the Bloogood online, so maybe I'll ahve to wait to see them in person before choosing. I don't think he cares which one I get as long as it is red! : )
There's a dark red river birch.....my son's inlaws have a clump by their pond, & it's stunning.
Thanks : ) I think he wants something that's red all season... We don't actually want the ones my neighbor has, he just like show they are red all season. : )
i also have a red birch here for you to check out - do not think it is a river birch type.
Meredith you will start with a small tree 4 or 5 feet tall that will get to about 15 feet over ten years.
These birches stay dark red all season. My JM Cindy is holding her color well through this heat.
Robindog I have about 7 pink per geraniums in my hold beds if you want to come get them!!!
Thanks, Frank, but I won't be getting up to ME until the middle of Sept.......not sure where Hallowell is.....going to visit my stepson in Kport, maybe get up Midcoast if my friend is able to go with me.
Hallowell is 40 minutes South of me and about an hour and a half North from K-Port.
NICE!
Those are some nice fans!!
Nice Big Ones! I just got an e-mail that my Daylily order from Alcovy is on the way! She said they are beginning to go dormant there but should produce new growth once I get them in the ground. They are in Georgia and it must be sweltering hot down there, because it is here! I never ordered there before so I am hoping they are good, they had a couple reviews in Garden Watchdog and they were all positive. So I figured I'd try since they had a Daylily I couldn't find anywhere else. The shipping was kinda high, I thought.
Thanks Wha I can't wait to see it! And Robin I searched red birch and I ust have been looking at the wrong plant in the pf because they were pictures of green leafed trees. I'll have to ask a nursery and see if they have any... Not sure where the best place to go would be. I'm sure Wha knows! :)
i got mine at hd - that is hit or miss though it just happened to be there meredith
Yes, sometimes I am lucky at HD, lately they haven't had squat!
Picked up a few new things at the garden centre ^_^
weigula 'My Monet' to replace the 'Wine and Roses' which was kilt
vibernum trilobum 'Bailey Compact'. I wanted a vibernum opulus but this spot is a little shadier so I thought I'd try one that LUVs Cowtown.
aruncus dioicus (goatsbeard) - a bigun
aruncus aethusifolius (dwarf korean goatsbeard)- a cutieputootie little one
campanula 'Dickson's gold'
epipremnum aureum (gift from Moo) which will live inside in the w*i*n*t*e*r
nice list there dnut - i have monet although not a fav for me
