Beautiful blooms Helena. All your blooms are lovely this yr as usual.

Thanks LiliMercy and Jackie. I got 2 more plants into the ground this morning. Yes, I'm much happier with my vines this year, better blooms and healthier vines. Took a pic of the this one again before it wilted.

I love the unusual blooms of your Sazanami Jackie.

Your maroon and purple bloom is really striking.

Debra,
I just love your Rudbeckia. I had the yellow flowering one this past summer, and just pary it has self-seeded. For some reason it isn't very keen on doing that - had only one plant from the previous year's plant...

Tony - Interesting that you are planning to pinch/prune your vines to make them thicker ... and shorter? I think that is a great experiment. I might try the same idea, with some of my new grow-outs! :-)

Helena - Your first post reminds me a little of Purple-blue Henka that I grew last year. Yours blooms are are really lovely! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7002439

This one I love!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7962228 What a neat color and ray pattern! That's neat that those two were on the same vine! Love it!!!

Another gorgeous bloom! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7962240

And your mutant Fuji no Monet is amazing! Another awesome vine!

And all I can say about this one is WOW!!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7963062

Jackie - I love this photo and the pattern and color on this vine! Beautiful!!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7963062

And I think your Fuji no Monet looks fabulous! What a nice ray pattern you are getting on those!

Debra - This is a knock-out! What is it? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7963945

Your purpureas area looking great, too! I hope the rain storm didn't damage your blooms as you feared. Always a missed photo opportunity when that happens! :-(

I think this year we should do an I. nil seed swap. I have more than enough I. purpurea seeds to last me a lifetime. But I am seeing some grand I. nils that are just make me smile with their beauty!

Emma,

I just love your "Black Queen" and "Mai Sugata " Cross.

I have 2 blooms on a cross I did last year, but only one flower opened up enough for a half-way decent photo. More buds on the vine, so I hope to get a better photo of this one later this week. :-)

Blue Kikyo. These I. nil blooms and vines are much smaller than the big bloomers! But still lovely all the same. Thanks Doug!

Purple Speckles is finally producing pollen. My theory - when the vines started dying or nearing the end of their life-cycle ... they start producing viable reproductive parts to reproduce seeds as is the nature of survival of the next generation (F1)! :-) So I expect some seeds from this one afterall. :-)

My Kikyo Ice is a very short vine. It's not getting much taller. I think I'm going to move them to a hanging basket and see what it will do.

Silver Wolf blooms. As you can see, the rust fungus is all over the leaves. This usually doesn't hurt the blooms or seed pods/seeds. I have always cleaned my seeds by briefly soaking them in a mild solution of bleach water and/or wiping/rubbing them with chlorox wipes to remove/kill any rust spores or any other possible disease. And then I make sure that they are totally dry before bagging and tagging them in ziploc baggies. It is probably a good idea for most folks to do this as a safe-guard to prevent spreading plant diseases. Rust is pretty common in hot, humid climates around the world.

Nicole - Nice Kikyo Ice. I have one growing as well. It has yellowish-green variegated leaves. Are your leaves variegated?

This is Heavenly Blue that had it's vine severed by a rodent. Still growing and blooming like nothing happened. LOL!

And here is the vine seriously rooted in water. I guess I need to pot those roots, huh? lol

I laughed when I saw this photo of a Blue Speckles bloom. Something (probably a moth caterpillar) must have taken a big bite out of the bud. This is what the bloom looked like - stripes, speckles, holes, and all! :-D

This is interesting. I am growing another pot of Sidare (weeping JMG). See the mini-vine in the photo in the top right. I have collected seeds from the first one I grew this year and some of the seeds are very small. I am wondering if they might also produce the Sidare in miniature form. Wouldn't that be cool? I could grow them in small hanging pots. I am going to be growing some of them out to see what happens! That would be perfect to have some mini JMG weepers! ;-) I really like this cultivar a lot!

Thumbnail by beckygardener

I am still getting an occasional bloom from the original Sidare. It's a tough little cookie to continue to hang in there when most of the vine is looking pretty much dead.

Some seriously beautiful blooms Becky and Emma.

Becky love your cross from last yr and that colorful Blue Speckles.

Emma, love Kanoko and no Kasumi
