I have always cleaned my seeds by briefly soaking them in a mild solution of bleach water and/or wiping/rubbing them with chlorox wipes to remove/kill any rust spores or any other possible disease. And then I make sure that they are totally dry before bagging and tagging them in ziploc baggies. It is probably a good idea for most folks to do this as a safe-guard to prevent spreading plant diseases. Rust is pretty common in hot, humid climates around the world.
