Dear Lord,
When the shadows start to be long, guide us to Your Light.
By faith we ask for wisdom

Woohoo...me, me, me!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I never get to be first!

Well, I wish we were at 80's again. 90's here this week. Just too hot in the sun to spread manure.

I picked up two Homestead purple verbena to go on the waterfall mound to replace those double wave petunias that bit the dust. Bertie's come back every year and they just have a wow factor this year, so I hope mine will be perennial, too. They should blend nicely with the two waves that are left...I hope.

Glad to hear you're feeling up to being in the garden, Jaye. Kel will be telling you to get your sweet lil hiney inside when he returns!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Reloading "Bounce" sheets onto my hat and pants belt!! Goodness.. I use them more for the garden than in the dryer!!

Oh my...Kel wants some Mexican tonight. Cookie, I'm about to tell him to convert to Islam so he can get a Mexican wife!! LOLOL!!!!

We know how sweet Sistah Judy is.. but you got to agree with me, that Bertie's sexy in her 'hot rod'!!

Off to the gardens.. BBL!!

LOL Judy looks as if she is hanging on for dear life

I am having a hard time getting in gear, after camping for a week. I spent all day yesterday laying in my dark cool bedroom watching movies and reading a book. We are going to be in the mid 90's all this week. I need to do my yard work before I go to Curves and then spend the rest of the day sewing in a cool house, lol.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Yum-Mexican sounds delish!!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Yum....we're having Mexican tonight, too. Burittos!

Bill finished up the pork on the last tortilla with sour cream and a little bbq sauce...OMG he LOVED it!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Tostadas at this house tonight. Kim cooked the beans yesterday for the refried bean part and is currently making her version of the ground beef stuff. Tell I am a real expert, don't even know the names of things--oh well, I can eat them. LOL

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Jaye whats the bounce for? Im lost ....

Leftovers here tonight.. My visitors just left for the night but the big puppy is comming back tomorrow so I can dog sit while my best friend takes all her kids to kings island..

Donna, the Bouce dryer sheets are good for rubbing on yourself to keep mosquitos away
Somewhere in my mess of papers I have a list of all the things you can do with dryer sheets
We are having Stuffed Game Hens yum yum have not had them in ages

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!!
Coffee's on.... and I feel like toasted English muffins today with some sugar free blueberry spread!

Susan ... any news on the house???? Missing you girl.

Donna... if only kids could be caged!! LOLOL!! Bella must be confused when she saw that!
I tuck in Bounce under my hat and my waist band. They have provided some mosquito relief, when I remember to do that!

Cookie, that's a neat idea!! So Bill get to enjoy the last morsel eh?
That's one dish you could fix easily for the family reunion.
I'm thinking of doing slow cooked country ribs with salsa verde. I know Kel will love those on tortillas and sour cream a la Bill!!

Maid M., you're lucky to have a live-in Mexican chef! Please order a plate of carnitas for me!

Should be indoors today, but we're starting to get a heatwave for the next 2 weeks, and I have so much in the garden to finish!!
Putting my hat on and will try to brave the heat for a couple of hours.

Sue, don't wilt please!!

Love you guys, bbl!!!

Good Morning Ladies,
But not such a Good Morning here at my daughter's house. I am babysitting Taylor as my daughter and grandson are at the hospital. The Good Lord has come to take my grandson's grandpa home. He has been fighting cancer for about 6 months now and I don't think he will be with us much longer.

Bob is such a good man. Always had a smile and gave hugs all the time. His family gave him a birthday party on May 15th and over 200 people showed up. He was on cloud nine that day, but it did wear him out. But he said it was worth it to see all of his friends all at once and probaly most of them for the last time. He is going to be missed big time.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Cinsy, saying prayers for you and family! Praying he does not suffer too much! (((((((HUGS))))))

Thanks for the breakfast Jaye! You be careful in that sun too!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So sorry to hear your news Cindy.

One order of carnitas placed. You will have to be fast as that is Kim's favorite also.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers for an easy passage Cindy. No matter how prepared we are it is still a shock when it happens. I'm so glad he had that special day.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry about Grandpa...must need a new angel in heaven!

I was thinking the same thing about that pork, Jaye. It is so easy to make and so yummy.

We've already decided to get several of those tubs of chicken salad at Sam's to have on hand. Can't beat the price or the taste!

Bertie and I returned to exercise class today and they were all so happy to see us. Guess they will be coming to our houses for tours and lunch on the 27th. Hope I can keep the house clean from all the visitors before they get here! We always walk a mile outside as part of our exercise and it's usually after we warm up, but today we walked as soon as we got there. We figured the earlier we walked the cooler it would be.

I have to admit that I'm stalling going outside. It's hot...tomorrow will be worse with a heat index of 106. Sigh...

Tonight I'm going with a friend to her garden club. She lives here in Franklin by my MIL/FIL and when she said something about her garden club, I said I didn't know Franklin had a garden club. She said it's not in Franklin. The name of the club is "Here and There Garden Club", cause the members are from all over. So knowing me, after tonight.....I'll have a new garden club to be a member of! Tonight they're making hypertufa troughs. It will be a hot one for that....I'm anxious to see if they do it the way I did!

Okay...tried a new recipe (Robyn brought it to the RU) and it's ready. I wanted to eat and let it settle before the club meeting. It's Tator Tot Pizza Casserole. The one she brought was awesome!

Thank You Ladies,

I went to the hospital to be with Bob during his last moments with us. Even though he was unable to respond he knew I was there by raising his eyebrows. Later when my daughter arrived and she let him know she was there he grinned at her. He passed at 1:45 this afternoon with many of us at his bedside. The saddest thing was his daughter was not there. She left after seeing him this morning and no one has been able to get ahold of her. My daughter called her cell every hour on the hour and she would not call back.

My biggest worry now is my grandson. He has been giving my daughter a lot of trouble. Taking off in the middle of the night, bad attitude etc. Now with his grandpa gone i'm affaid that he will get into some serious trouble. When at the hospital today, I walked outside to have a talk with his dad, and there he was SMOKING!!!! I told him don't be doing that, put it out. He said "Do I really have to put it out?" I said "YES"!!!!! and turned around and walked back into the hospital. I did not say anything to my daughter. She doesn't need this. She said to me this morning "Mom, I am so sorry for all the trouble I caused you when I was younger" I told her "It's alright we manage to pull through it" She has turned out to be a very good woman, wife and mother. I'm very proud of her.

Thank You Ladies for being here and listening to me. You all are my ROCK ^_^

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone! Coffee is ready, and english muffins with flavored cream cheese today!

It is going to be another HOT day, so please be careful!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Cindy-it is possible that she had said her goodbyes, but just wasn't strong enough to be there for the end. Not everyone can bear to witness the passing of someone they love so dearly. How old is your grandson?? And how does he get out at night?? Just wondering....

I miss the authentic Mexican food from the SW. Especially homemade tamales-YUMMMMM. In AZ and in Fresno, you could get them on street corners from little ladies that sold them by the dozen if you knew the right corners;) We always got them from people Chris worked with. My BFF Barb is Mexican-American and her Mom is either 1st or 2nd generation here in the US-I should get some recipes from her huh??

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

((((Cindy))))

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Tamales are a Christmas item here. Hard to find any other time!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Man-that would suck. Not in AZ and Fresno-the times we bought them from the peeps Chris worked with it was around any holiday. But yes, they are a big Christmas deal too:)

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Sending prayers for you and your family Cindy.

How about a pretty red mandavila that is finally blooming.

Good Morning,
Stacey my grandson is 15. Yep that is the troublesome age. As for him getting out at night..............he just takes off walking. Most of the times he calls his dad to come get him. My daughter is not a strong person. Right after Kain was born she went into a deep deep, depression. It was awful. All she wanted was me. I could not leave her sight and she did not want to have anything to do with Kain. Finally after a couple of months with help she started coming around. But then Kain's dad started doing drugs, wouldn't come home after work. Then he lost his job. After 2 years she left him and moved in with me and my husband. I told Doug that I wanted to run away to a deserted island and live like Swiss Family Robertson, lol. He said "Well then you'll have to learn to like eating fish and deal with hurricanes" LOL

Tamales, yum yum...My daughter is half Mexican and I spent alot of time with her dad's family. One time I helped make Tamales. Boy I tell ya it is not an easy job. But boy they sure are good.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Tink how I wish you lived closer!! Kim loves tamales and I haven't quite acquired a taste for them yet. She could eat tamales with you and carnitas with Jaye.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/art/1824903790.html

Marion, how close are you to jacksonville.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am about 150 miles from Jax. Oh please, don't even tempt me!!! I have trying not to look at the site as I will be assisting Kim going back to school this fall to get her Specialist Degree.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

My Mother was a fabulous cook but there were a few things that she didn't like and didn't cook. One of those was tamales. My Dad loved them and he would go downtown once a month to shop and bring home either tamales or oysters from the farmer's market there. He loved them both and Mom would have none of either! that was the only time my Dad worked in the kitchen.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thought I have no time to check the threads... but the smell of Tamales and Carnitas lure me back here!!
I'm ready for oysters too :D

((((((Cindy))))) My condolence and I know he will be missed by your grandson. I hope he will have another positive male role model.

Will be back this evening. Some paper chasing to do.. stay away from the heat sistahs!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Tamales I miss taco truck burritos, and Ceveche!

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

There were a couple of ladies who'd come to my late hubby's workplace each morning with homemade breakfast burritos made with real tortillas, not the store bought ones.. HUGE burritos and tasted so good! I'd eat half and save the other half for the next day lol..

Hey..I just realized that the "Search Forums" was finally working again.. woohoo! Now to go find houseplants that are indestructible! lol..
