Zebra Longwing's haven't shown up here yet.....can't remember when they did last year, but they do seem to come later than the other BF's
DAILY BUTTERFLIES Page 77
mjs...you might put that one on the plantfiles database.
Plantfiles or bugfiles ? I went and looked and monarchs are in the bugfiles...lots of other neat butterflies tho !
PlantFiles would show how it is a host plant
got it............lol....I'm a little slow sometimes !
Mjs that is a great pic with the monarchs! A liiittle personal though is this an R rated forum. Lol. I have only spotted one longwing this year but not surprising as I don't have much shade. However am wondering where my peacocks are as they are usually abundant here around this time.
Sorry I meant to suggest the bugfiles for the mating Monarchs.
EFG...That is a cutie...not sure what though.
edited to say....it is a Common Wood Nymph (Cercyonis pegala texana) ....found it on the www.dallasbutterflies.com site.
Look under "on the wing" over in the left hand side.

Well it's not Aphrodite or Great Spangled, Lily. And from all the pix, I'd say shelia's spot on with the VF. beautiful!!
and why don't you ask Nanny what that dark one is. *snicker*
LOL, okay, my friend Nan please help your buddy out. lol.
You all are not funny at all!! lol
Trying to decide what mine is...Pipevine I think as that seem to be what I have the most of!
I will try to figure yours out!
Thanks Sheila on the id for Wood Nymph,
Nan:
Your first photo is an Eastern Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes) Note the solid row of spots on the hindwing -- Spicebush has a near solid row, except on gap. The second photo is a Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor).
