so sad about the whale and the Owlette = { ,Great shots everyone ,rose what is that long beaked bird ?? nice shot,Margaret love both your photos worth framing ...
Sorry to hear about the Owl, Nanny. So sad about the whale Little things.
Wonderful pictures everyone. Margaret, to me it is a BEAUTIFUL Fairy-wren!
Thanks Donna and Tamara. The Fairy-wrens are such elusive little things. I was telling my friend, who lives right by here how lucky she is to have Fairy-wrens (and an osprey nest) at the bottom of her garden. I was describing how they sound, so she might be able to pick them out when they're moving through the undergrowth. If you can imagine a tiny, delicate little gossamer bag filled with tiny little ball-bearings and then you gently shook the little bag, the sound you would get would be close to the sound made by the Fairy-wrens. When I next saw her, she said she'd told a friend of hers who lives down south of my description and the friend agreed, that's exactly what they sound like. On this description, she has now been able to locate them at her place.
Another Silvereye.
Hack cute baby thrasher. I love that big eye.
Lily, glad you found a nest.
Nanny, glad to hear you're not seeing the HOSP. Cute picture of the finch and oriole family. So sorry to hear about the owlet.
Burn, super photo of the redstart. Loved the picture of the sparrow on the globe.
Rian, sad to hear about the whale too. Looking forward to pictures from your trip.
WildRose, great photo of the osprey. Love the fuzzy head on the Green Heron.
Margaret, fantastic photos of the Silvereye and wren.
One of our Bald Eagles was showing off his catch as he kept circling our house. I was hoping he wouldn't drop the fish on me.
The Silvereye is beautiful Margaret. Great shots!
Duc, Wonderful shots of the Eagle w/ catch. That Oriole baby is sweet!
Thanks duc. LOL about the Bald Eagle dropping its catch on you.
Thanks nanny. Good shot of your beautiful Cardinal.
I was down at the osprey nest before sunrise today. The following three dreadful photos are of our beautiful Port Lincoln Ringneck Parrots, also known as "28's". I think we're headed for an early spring. (Can you have spring without having had winter?) These were quickly snapped as three of them we engaged in play.

Wonderful shots everyone...too many to mention but I sure enjoy seeing them all. Nice to see our daily thread moving along and Margaret it is always a pleasure to see your birds. Burn...that shot of the Sparrow on the globe is priceless! Nanny, Rian and Lily...so very sorry. We are expecting a storm to show up soon so wanted to post before it did.
Here is a not great shot of a Green Heron flying over. I had thought previously that I had seen them on the pond and now I am sure that is what I have seen.
nice shots dell,I too have a few of the red winged blkbirds....The chipmunks ate every sunflower seed I planted 3 times.. I have 2 sunflowers !!!!
My God, Rose, I almost inhaled a peanut when I saw that first photo of the Dickcissel. It took my breath away.
Oh my goodness, these photos just keep getting better and better. It always amazes me how Orioles build their nests on the very tip of branches--great contractors! LOL
Margaret how wonderful to be able see such a colorful bird in the wild.
Rose, that singing Dickcissel deserves a frame for a wall hanging! WOW!
Nanny, you're right, you can't go wrong with the beautiful Cardinals.
Margaret, your photos of the parrots are wonderful! Your photo of the Galah is absolutely gorgeous. I guess you could have a spring without a winter. We certainly went through winter here and skipped the warmer weather of spring going right into summer. Very strange!
Rose, beautiful photo of your juv. Cardinal. Great shots of the GH and the Indigo. Fantastic captures of the Dickcissel. Excellent photo of the Jay baby too.
Hugger, glad you're seeing the pretty Orioles.
My juvie Cowbird is still following the juvie Oriole, but both look healthy.
Margaret, the shots of the "28's" are just spectacular!!
Rose....that first Dickcissel is breathtaking...and the rest are just as awesome! That juvie BJ is adorable!
duc...LOVE that last one!!
huggergirl, I have been trying to watch were the orioles fly too in hopes of spotting were they built their nest. I may have to wait until fal and the leaves fall. I have found a couple before in the fall. Great catch!
