The last thread seemed to zip by...here is a link to it http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1110929/#top .
I have been noticing the birds enjoying the sunflowers and wild flowers in the field so thought I'd start with a pic of a male American Goldfinch.
Edited to say that I've got to resize my pics...didn't know they would be THAT big!! Will be back with more in a bit!!

Daily Pics. Vol. 333
Rose, Those are excellent shots!! The Barn Swallows are adorable and the Goldfinch pics are beautiful!!
Thanks for starting the new thread!
HA! Love those three birdies. It always amazes me how wide the young ones can get their mouths open!
Dellrose, you are right (Great shots also as ever), but swallows are cute, I caught a few in my time (early years..) and it was always like holding a bunny for me. Those short legs and adorable faces.
OMG!!!!! What awesome shots Rose!!! The finch on the sunflower just says summer to me! The swallows are just too cute!
Well.....here is my only owl shot from last night! After last night I know know what this sort of hissing sound I have been hearing is!
When I took Buddy out at 11pm last night one flew across right in front of us..and again I wished they would fly just a little higher! lol
Wonderful shots nanny!
Wow Rose, what a gorgeous start, thank you. I think the first two photos are just fantastic and I do hope you've saved one of the adorable swallow babies for the DG contest. Awesome captures, all of them.
Nanny, you did a great job with the owl. It's beautiful and so exciting to see. Hope you'll get more pictures. The juvie red-bellied and orioles are just the cutest little ones-more great photos.
Thanks Hack!
What a hoot, nanny.
Rose, as always, your photos are superb, but that one of the Goldfinch on the wildflowers is one for the contest.
Rian, from the previous thread, your Sunbird is spectacular.
Nice shots Margaret. Must have been neat watching the Gannet's.
ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM,ok Rose I want to print your pictures those are beautiful shots of the finches and the barn swallows are soo adorable, yes I agreee with margaret about the sunbird soo pretty. And nanny I would have peed my pants LOL great shot,Iam hearing momas and juvies all over the place ,i missed the 2 male orioles taking turns at the jelly feeder, we do have 2 pr nesting above.Margaret are you getting ready for the next round of nest watching ??? Ive been thinking its getting close...
Wow, the Gold finches on the first two posts are delightful to see. Rose thank you for the new thread. Nan you surely had a nice week birding, and to have found the Owl! How exciting for you. LOL with you Tamara about what you've said to Nan. Oh do look for Margaret's threads on the Osprey on this forum, looks like we are in for a nice season of the Ospreys. Thank you, Margaret.
Nan, it's so nice to see that you've so many juvies Orioles. I missed seeing the RBWP juvie, it must have transformed into the colorful plumage of adulthood, which made it hard for me to differentiate them among its parents who I named Mitch and Mizzy. I love all those juvenile birds, some are somewhat homely, but adorable regardless. Yesterday I saw Moma Cardinal brought her young here to feed her. I wish I could have capture a pic. of the two together.
Margaret the Gannet and gull shots are nice even from a long distance.
I'll post a Cardinal youngster pic. I saw yesterday. Just as I type, a pair of those juvies arrived at the feeder with Papa Cardinal. Other pics. will follow:
Here is the pic. of the youngsters pair this morning. A female on the left and male (on the right) maybe? Papa is also teaching them to be warry of the photographer behind the window. Thus they arrived here briefly, then left. Ahhh, then just now the Parents arrived. It's going to be a good day. :-)
Margaret, at least you were able to get a photo of the gull and gannet. They look good to me.
Lily, your juvie cardinals are just adorable. Cute finch, chickadee and heron too.
Here's the juvie Brown-headed Cowbird that apparently was raised with the orioles. He first watched the orioles and then yesterday had his first drink of the sugar-water.
Nature is awesome! I was wondering what the juvie Cowbird thought of the nectar drink that it has the first taste of? I'll return this evening for more pictures. Have a wonderful day of birding everyone.
Duc, we crossed posted. Poor baby Scrub Jay; it does look skinny.

Margaret, like ducbucln said, the Silver Gull and Gannet look good to me, also.
Lily_love - sweet pics, esp. the one of the young male House Finch at your feeder.
ducbucln - I wonder how long the juvie Brown-headed Cowbird-Oriole is gonna get by on the sugar-water?
'Til later,
Hack
I have seen only 1 juvie cowbird here so far which is amazing. I can't even gues how many orioles we have I have only had 3 quck glimpse of the juvie RBW...they just don't come very often before they are chased off by the parents it seems.
The owls came back last night so we watched them for a bit while they hunted in the yard 2 houses down from us. It is just to cool!
This female Eastern Towhee was oblivious to fact that I was standing there taking her photo one night.
Thanks Hack, here come our resident Mallards pair. There are two pairs in our local lake. But rarely I see any baby. Some authority in the birds world informed me that these ducks are domesticated for so many years. They lose their instinct for rearing their own ducklings. What a shame of that loss.
Rose, the Goldfinch on the flowers are beautiful, and the barn swallows so sweet. Thanks for the new thread.
Nanny, how I wish I could have seen what you saw. I'm still hoping to see an Owl. And love the juvie Orioles.
The Gannets shot is still very good Margaret.
Lily you have a better shot of your Heron, then I did Sunday. I can't hardly see it, cause it's so far away. Nice house finch and Dee.
What was the reaction of the juvie Cowbird with the sugar water, Duc, poor thing must think he`s been adopted. :)
A Ring -billed gull and an Osprey in the background.
