Thanks Donna and Tamara. The Fairy-wrens are such elusive little things. I was telling my friend, who lives right by here how lucky she is to have Fairy-wrens (and an osprey nest) at the bottom of her garden. I was describing how they sound, so she might be able to pick them out when they're moving through the undergrowth. If you can imagine a tiny, delicate little gossamer bag filled with tiny little ball-bearings and then you gently shook the little bag, the sound you would get would be close to the sound made by the Fairy-wrens. When I next saw her, she said she'd told a friend of hers who lives down south of my description and the friend agreed, that's exactly what they sound like. On this description, she has now been able to locate them at her place.

Another Silvereye.
